21.01.2022 . Thank you to the 7 students that turned up on Sunday for my first ever full day geometry masterclass . Such a pleasure to teach so many inquisitive, engaged minds. A full 8 hours day flew by for all of us, as they did when I first studied full days back in London .... I cant express how happy I am when teaching these topics - the conversations that naturally arise when drawing these forms is one of my favourite parts of the day. I feel the truth in Platos words, that studying these shapes, really does draw the soul towards philosophy... towards truth . It was also nice to know that I had soooooo much more content to teach than we had time for... so Ill be posting another date in December for another masterclass - very much open to new students as well as return students . 17.01.2022 After the success of yesterday's geometry masterclass, I'm wanting to run another one this month, on Sunday 24th November. But one thing that I'll be doing different is that this will be a Full Day class! Full day classes are how I began my geometry studies, and although the half day classes I've run so far have been great, I've been left with the feeling that there was much more ground to cover... and I feel that anyone that's been to one of my classes may have felt similar.... - So, this will be a masterclass on Sacred & Islamic Geometry - it will, as always, be a very hands-on drawing class mixed with a good amount of philosophic & esoteric theory. This always leads to some interesting dialogue opening up in the class This masterclass is open to all people, no experience required and all equipment is provided. I also recommend this class to those that have drawn with me before. 14.01.2022 have you ever wondered what a cube in the 4th dimension looks like? (and moves like?) well your wondering had been answered - here it is, a Tesseract, or a Hypercube much like the jump from 2D to 3D, where a cube is made of 6 squares, so a Tesseract is made up of 6 cubes, but these cubes morph and warp as the cube moves as it does... exactly 'why' the thing moves, I don't know, I suspect it would be the equivalent of rotating a 3D cube around and looking at the different surfaces - perhaps one of you know why?? but whatever the reason, it looks pretty nice doing what it does #geometry #tesseract #hypercube

12.01.2022 . This is a painting of Pythagoras of Crotona. A Greek colony in southern Italy, in which Pythagoras settled and founded a religious and philosophical (& musical) school . Pythagoras believed that all things are numbers. Mathematics is the basis for everything, and geometry is the highest form of mathematical studies .... what a legend . My first full day Geometry Masterclass this Sunday has now sold out. In this, and future classes, we will be looking at people such as Pythagoras - it was people like him that brought this eternal knowledge of number and geometry to Europe - from Egypt . He is also the grandfather of the majority of European wind and string instruments, including the guitar and piano . His work, and others who followed him (Plato, Aristotle, Euclid to name but a few) in turn led to the Islamic world translating their works into Arabic, giving them the mathematical knowledge required for astronomy, advanced architecture and of course, theyre incredible geometric art... something we will be drawing and studying in depth . It wasnt until the 12th century, due to the Crusades that Europe had its first contact with the Islamic world, introducing it, among other things, to geometry and mathematics . This remembering helped lay the groundwork for a period of rebirth of classical learning - known as the Renaissance. Birthing world changing artists such as Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo and other great turtles . This kind of history, I feel, should be standard curriculum in all schools. A history of the arts, creative thinking and genius based on eternal truths.... perhaps one day. . Although my next masterclass has sold out, there will be more for those interested. . 11.01.2022 . a look at my studio desk on an average day of use . handmade paper for a new birth chart, gouache paints, my zodiac woodblock prints, my tool box of all my favourite drawing tools, laptop & headphones for checking the chart info and many-a-tune to keep everything running smoothly .... And as a few of you have asked, Ill be doing a video soon of how to use a ruling pen, or at least how I use it, as am sure people can use it differently . 10.01.2022 . 2019 is almost at an end... its almost the 20s !!! . it seems so surreal. 2020 feels like its going to be quite the gateway year for me, as Im sure it does for lots of you too .... I now have the dates of my final two sacred and Islamic geometry classes for this decade - there will be one this Saturday 7th & also Saturday 21st December . 04.01.2022 Has anyone ever seen an image of an Analemma before? I hadn’t until recently, and I’m so glad I looked into what these images above were showing. An Analemma is a diagram (or in this case a combination of multiple photos) showing theposition of the Sun in thesky, as seen from a fixed location on Earth,at the sametime for around 30-50 days throughout the year - not the easiest thing to capture.... Most the pictures above would have been taken over a 10-12 month period - the camera at the same angle, at exactly the same time of day for each shot. The pattern makes a figure of 8 because of the Earth’s 23.5 degree tilt and it’s slightly elliptical orbit around the Sun, rather than a perfect circle. This pattern is called an Analemma. The Sun will appear at its highest point in the sky, and highest point in the analemma, during summer. In the winter, the Sun is at its lowest point. The in-between times generate the rest of the analemma pattern. Analemmas viewed from different Earth latitudes have slightly different shapes, as do analemmas created at different times of the day. Analemmas on the other planets have different shapes entirely! How good! 03.01.2022 While all this madness has been swirling around me here in Melbourne, it's been easy to lose my centre, especially when going down a wormhole of fear-mongering news websites. I have no idea what is gonna happen to this beautiful city, how the cards are going to land and when those damn borders are going to open. But I do know that I have my creativity; these last few months have been some of the most creatively inspired times in my life - I love where my art is taking me and... 02.01.2022 It seems that things are thawing out in some ways after covid more of you have been in touch about ordering birth charts, thank you - it's nice to be back in the studio painting again all we need now is Melbourne to not be the leper city of Australia, then maybe I can start my social life again - I think I remember how to talk to people in person. I've definitely however forgotten how not to wear tracksuit pants for everything though. That's gonna be a hard one to shift... 01.01.2022 . A big thank you to the 6 of you for turning up and going deep with your learning and drawing yesterday . I love how much philosophical conversation naturally arises when working with these shapes that are the literal building blocks of this (and possibly other ) realities .... Plato I feel is proven right again with his statement ...geometry will draw the soul towards truth, and create the spirit of philosophy... .
