24.01.2022 Fast stripes: when old is new again. I just need to work out how to get the sails done this way again. :)

23.01.2022 Nacra QLD State Titles is run and won. Over 40 boats from eight different Nacra classes attended what was originally the Australian Championship but due to covid was renamed the QLD State Titles. Being from Sydney, we had to self isolate for 14 days outside of Sydney over the Christmas break which we did at Byron Bay before we could get our QLD Border Pass but that also meant we missed the first day of racing and thus scored three DNS. The trip was well worth it though with v...ery close racing in many races and multiple race winners. It was great to be back in Hervey Bay after 30 years. The weather was perfect. Hot, sunny, nice wind. I enjoyed doing a 2 hour talk to the fleet reminiscing about our win at the first ever Nacra 5.8 World Championship in 1991 as well as speaking about the birth of the Nacra catamaran class in Australia and how that morphed into my success at three Olympic Games and the full circle back to being on a Nacra 5.8 in Hervey Bay 30 years later. 22.01.2022 It was 30 years ago today that we were in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia and won the Nacra 5.8 World Championship. Caroline, Bronte and I are back at HBSC this week to celebrate the 30th anniversary and today a fellow competitor presented us with the actual mainsail we used at the 1991 event. When old is not new again.
