02.01.2022 More words than usual so for those who will persevere with this post I am wondering if people might like to comment here What do people need right now from artists? Selling art is important to artists so they can continue to firstly support making and creating. But buying art may be the least of people's priorities in our current world. Art has many purposes not the least of which is to bring joy to others , perhaps to think a little differently about our world and to impr...ove others quality of life. What else does an artist have to offer? Artists are very good at persevering in the face of knockbacks. You dust yourself off and try again. Come up with another plan and try again. I ask myself simply how best to persevere and with what? What is the best response and best use of whatever limits we have on our resources? Secondly artists are creative. So the next question on my mind is how can we re purpose our creativity to to impact on shared problems. Novel response to this novel experience. What new ways of going and what might they be. In sum it begs the questions how can art best serve us. Our role in educuation maybe very important and to adapting to our circumstances. Arts practices geared up for on line service delivery may be of worthwhile if the airwaves cope with the myriad of things being offered and may help people stay postive and peaceful. But dealing with other issues maybe of more concern? My hunch is many people have a lot on their plate and may not have space for too much of this. Any comments appreciated from those who have time to check in here? The photo was taken 7 years ago when I was in a group of artists interested in learning. We were not needed to have social distance then and I was working as a volunteer. The process is never one way. The idea is called both ways learning. That day I learned what we do can bring a darn big smile to someones face.
