24.01.2022 What does Progress look like? Progress often happens in small steps that we overlook and it is not always increasing a weight or improving a time! It can be how our body responds to movement and how easily it feels to achieve it! Shoulder Press - Week 1: 10kg DB for 10 reps Week 3: 10kg DB for 11 reps = Progress!... Single Leg Glute Bridges: Week 1: 10 reps - This is the worst thing I've ever done - why does my trainer hate me!?! Week 4: 10 reps - Still not my favourite but I don't hate my trainer quite so much = Progress Enjoy the Process!! Contact me for one to one or semi private sessions

23.01.2022 Out of Balance?? Life presents a huge number of choices! In an effort to accomplish as much as we can and as quickly as possible, we do not do everything well! More often than not, when our work and life are out of balance, our health and well-being suffer. Re-establishing balance is not done by embarking on an all-consuming health transformation that is short lived - it is about longevity and creating habits that stay when "motivation" is not to be found! 1 strength s...ession a week for 10 years is far more beneficial than 10 x 6 week transformations (yo-yo training and nutrition) in the same time period! Find Your Balance - Not Extremes! Contact me for 1:1 and semi private training and lifestyle coaching See more

22.01.2022 The Short Version: Unprocessed foods = less calories eaten (weight loss) Ultra-processed foods = more calories eaten (weight gain) The Science Longer Version:... Ultra-processed diets cause excess calorie intake and weight gain!! (Hall et al., 2019). Finally a randomised controlled study that shows us that eating ultra-processed foods cause individuals to consume more calories in comparison to eating unprocessed foods! - Ad libitum intake was 508 Calories per day more on the ultra-processed versus the unprocessed diet when matched for presented calories, sugar, fat, fibre and macro-nutrients. - Eliminating ultra-processed foods from the diet decreases energy intake and results in weight loss. - Increased energy intake during the ultra-processed diet resulted from consuming greater quantities of carbohydrates and fat but not protein. - Ultra-processed foods are theorised to disrupt gut-brain signalling and may influence food reinforcement (Small & DiFelceantonio, 2019).

20.01.2022 This is one of the many reasons the fitness industry is broken!! Training until you throw up is not the message we should be sending! It is why so many people don't want to exercise or move because they believe it has to be intense, brutal and all or nothing! This all or nothing approach to health, fitness and mind set is not sustainable or enjoyable. Do what you have the capacity to do in that moment! Want to go for a walk - do it! Want to do yoga for 10min - do it! Want ...to strength train once a week - do it! Want to learn to deadlift - do it! Let's focus on health and longevity not the unrealistic expectations of social media ideals of fitness! Remember, all you have to do - is something!

18.01.2022 Client and fellow Personal Trainer Morgan with some 70kg rack pulls!! Morgan heads off for surgery today with a great strength base for her rehab! Imagine what we can do with a fully functioning core!!

12.01.2022 Becoming stronger is a journey that should be enjoyed!! Smashing a deadlift PR is an amazing feeling but the training program to get there should also be fun! A good training program should challenge you but not overload to the point of exhaustion or injury! Trust the process #strength

10.01.2022 No arm- no problem!! There are always ways to train around injuries and surgeries! In fact moving as much as you can post surgery will help speed up the recovery process! Our lovely client Lauren Reid getting some squats in after shoulder stabilisation surgery!

08.01.2022 In 1500BC humans consumed 13 Trillion calories per day. In 2019 humans consume 1,500 Trillion calories per day! The population has increase 14 fold in that time where as our energy expenditure has increased 115 fold (Sapiens - Yuval Noah Harari)! Just some food for thought!!

04.01.2022 Chris Lennaen working his way to his goal of 120kg deadlift! Chris has kyphosis which is a rounding of the thoracic part of the spine. We’ve been working on strengthening the area around the scapulas (lats, rhomboids) along with glute and abdominal activation to reduce his pelvic tilt which can exacerbate the curve! Chris’s lifts are now looking technically better and stronger along with an awareness of switching on muscles and posture!

02.01.2022 Such a lovely drawing from Niamh! I’m glad someone thinks I’m the best gym teacher Not sure her mum Anna agrees after her leg session yesterday

01.01.2022 The fitness industry has to stop this bullshit!! Burn fat In your sleep No! Stop perpetuating myths about what exercise can do! Why not simply say that Metafit is a fun, high intensity exercise class! Keep it simple and more importantly keep it honest!! Stop targeting people’s insecurities and need for a quick solutions! No wonder so many people are confused about training and nutrition! #stopthebullshit
