25.01.2022 I made this four years ago and I post again. Let’s focus on hope today. #Permaculture

24.01.2022 The garden can make a huge temperature difference around your home. https://www.abc.net.au//making-your-home-resilie/12880698

23.01.2022 Have you been thinking about a gift voucher for a loved one? I had a query from a dear parent looking to give a voucher for a consultation in their adult child's garden - and it got me thinking. For me, this is not the time to make commitments that could be awkward to fulfil in the months ahead. Distancing is back on again, and family care always comes ahead of business. So please don't send money! But I do have something you could give a family member - and it comes with opt...ions for every budget and style. It's that little ebook, Starting a Garden in Adelaide. It's a springboard into creating a productive garden in our climate. https://nadjasgarden.com.au/free-ebook/ OPTION 1 - FREE, EASY, LOCKDOWN-PROOF: Send your loved one the link with your love, and they can download the book. No-one pays a cent. Get two for the price of one :) OPTION 2 - SOMETHING TO HOLD ONTO: Download and print a copy of the book (on recycled paper, please!) and if you want to go fancy, put it in a nice folder. Wrap it in a vintage tea towel or apron and give it to your loved one, along with the PDF link so that they can also explore all the linked online resources. OPTION 3 - GET CREATIVE! Option 2 + tuck in some little parcels of seeds harvested from your garden. (Parsley, coriander, celery, calendulas and poppies are busy setting seed around here right now...) Or give a big fragrant bouquet of perennial herb and flower cuttings. Either way, show them the propagation instructions in the book so they can make use of the gifts from your garden. OPTION 4 - A SPLASH OF CASH: Take either Option 2 or 3, and throw in a few notes for your loved one to use as they choose towards their new garden - it might be a consultation later on, or maybe some shadecloth or second-hand beach umbrellas to protect what they have already planted when those post-Christmas heatwaves arrive. Let them decide. I would love to hear about what else you're making and giving, especially gifts from your own garden and kitchen. Keep well - keep growing - keep sharing.

23.01.2022 Morning, gardeners. Autumn is nearly here. The sun is slipping a little lower each day. The year is well underway, and for me, it's time to pause and reflect. I love autumn. I love its long moments of calm and beauty. This autumn, I am taking long service leave to let it soak right in and to share it with my family. I'll still pop up on FB from time to time, but with longer breaks. ... 'Starting a Garden in Adelaide' is still available for free download and sharing at https://nadjasgarden.com.au/free-ebook/. Nearly 4000 copies are out there now. If you have been pondering starting or re-starting a garden, it's a pretty good place to begin that process, and to connect with our local gardening community via the many links in the book. Permaculture SA https://permaculturesa.org.au/ has a listing of consultants on its website - in case you need some more personalised help getting your garden organised while I'm pottering away in mine. May your autumn be restorative too. Nadja.

14.01.2022 It's all happening at Port Environment Centre :)

14.01.2022 If you live in a fruit fly outbreak area or suspension area, these ideas might help! Let us know in the comments what you're planning to prepare for work/school, and feel free to share!

13.01.2022 Stuck in a fruit fly suspension zone? The zones are growing. I didn't get a note in the letterbox either. I think we need to swap brekky with 'brain food' or recess. Put the fruit straight in the kid, and send the boiled eggs or pancakes or whatever in the lunchbox. https://www.abc.net.au//students-return-to-school/13095078
