14.01.2022 CLUB LEGEND - Neil Nooz Lodding In 1964 Nagambie’s Neil Lodding represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics and 56 years later you can still find him encouraging local youngsters to get involved in the sport that’s so close to his heart. Neil rowed in the coxed pair with Bruce Richardson and cox Wayne Gammon, where they finished 2nd in their heat and repechage and second in the Petite final. He also had the rare experience of celebrating his 21st birthday in the Olympic v...illage where he shared his cake with athletes from around the world...how many people can say that!? You could say rowing is in his blood after his father and grandfather were both Kings Cup Champions in their hay day so it was no surprise that he was a natural, taking up the sport at age 14. Neil still coaches at the Nagambie Rowing Club and is an active committee member. Neil is one of Australia’s first Olympic hero’s and we are so lucky and grateful to have him around our club and coaching our next generation of rowers to the Olympic standard. Thanks, Nooz! 09.01.2022 A few weeks ago Nagambie rowers were lucky enough to have professional athlete and Olympian rower Lucy Stephan at the club. Lucy has been a member of the Australian rowing squad since 2013. She is a two-time world champion and Rio Olympian. In March with the postponement of the Olympics Lucy relocated to Nagambie from the National training center, Penrith to self-isolate her boyfriend Michael McNamara and his family. After restrictions lifted Lucy put some of the local rowers... through their paces with a training session that may have been a bit more intense than what they are use too... but they all loved it! The view wasn’t bad either. Thanks Luce!
