25.01.2022 UPDATE about the 7th WNC videos.

23.01.2022 Second sesssion of the INF online seminar this Sunday! This will be at 3pm AEDT (Melbourne) time.

20.01.2022 Amazing work from everyone who was at training today! From learning the basics for gorei to zen nihon kata you all stepped up and put in a huge effort. Now go enjoy the rest of the weekend!

20.01.2022 I want to say a big thank you to everyone who was at training today - from the senior students who took a lead in running part of the class, to those who assisted with the beginners course and to everyone who went away with a bit more knowledge/skill than they came in with. You all make getting out of bed on a Saturday morning just that little bit easier knowing how enthusiastic you all are.

18.01.2022 Hello Everyone! As promised - we are uploading ALL of the WNC and goodwill videos to youtube. It takes a lot of time, sorry about that.... Good news - Almost all of the ENGI is already uploaded. Feel free to look around.

18.01.2022 Video from Session 1 of the INF Zoom seminar - next ones will be 11 Oct (Shikake-Oji) and 15 Nov (Zen Nihon Kata).

18.01.2022 Hi everyone - sadly, due to the new cases arising the MBK has shut down training in the dojo effective immediately. Hopefully the number get back under control soon but in the meantime, enjoy a little sleep-in kihon.

18.01.2022 A big thank you to Michael, Caelan, Luca and Steve for demonstrating at the Otsuka Taikai today - well done!

17.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing people back at the dojo this Saturday - remember to arrive between 10-10.15am in order to be checked off on the safety checklist and to help with the pre-training clean. You MUST have signed the Covid Safety declaraction from the MBK before you can be allowed back into the dojo. Check your email for the link.

16.01.2022 Lovely to see those of you who could make this morning's chat and stretch session! Tune in (same bat-channel) next Saturday to catch up with your budo buddies and work those muscles a wee bit :)

16.01.2022 Welcome back to the dojo!

15.01.2022 Congratulations to all of you who attended the ANF seminar this past weekend! You all out in an amazing effort and hopefully amongst other things, discovered you are capable of things you didn't necessarily realise you were. A big thank you to all of you for assisting before, during and after the event - a huge shout out to Michael and Steve for taking on the jobs of opening/closing the dojo and assisting with the shuttle runs, to Donny, Caelan, Adam, Luca for pitching in with registration and clean up and to everyone for making our visitors feel at home.

13.01.2022 It's with great sadness that I have to say that our founding sensei, Mrs Reiko Nagae, passed away earlier this year in June. I was only informed of this on Sunday after receiving a communication from her daughter via one of the MBK members. Our thoughts, belated as they are, are with her family and friends. Mrs Nagae gave so much to us here in Melbourne and while I personally was only fortunate to receive her instruction for a few years before her return to Tokyo, her kindness, patience and generousity of spirit are well-treasured memories. I hope we can honour her memory by continuing to practice naginata with the same spirit of kindness, openness and fierce desire to improve ourselves and those around us that she brought to us here. Thank you Nagae-sensei and rest in peace.

11.01.2022 Great turnout and fantastic effort from everyone today - I'm always very appreciative of your willingness to take on new things and celery each others improvement. And a big thank you to Michael for surprise cake - a lovely treat for post-training recovery!

11.01.2022 Dates for the 2020 INF seminar in Turin, Italy have been released!

10.01.2022 Hope everyone's had a good restful break - training's back on tomorrow!

10.01.2022 It was great to train with some of you after such a long break. I hope you enjoyed the getting back into it again and that my words of wisdom such as 'rotate the boat', 'rotato' and 'scream inside your heart' resonate deeply with you.

10.01.2022 It's not unexpected but the INF committee has finally decided to cancel the INF seminar to be held in Turin, Italy this July due to everything in the world being in quarantine. While this is a sad turn of events, given the current state of the world we're glad the decision has been made for the continued health and safety of all practitioners.

09.01.2022 Hi everyone, Due to the concerns regarding potential transmission of COVID-19, the dojo has been closed by the committee for the next month. Never fear, however, I'll be attempting to post some suggestions of practice you can do at home or directing you to some great online videos/material relating to naginata. Be safe and good health to you and yours.

09.01.2022 A very big thank you to our senior practitioners for stepping up to run training yesterday. And kudos to all who turned up in the height of Melbourne heat!

08.01.2022 Just a reminder that due to the VKR first aid session this Saturday we will not hold be holding our usual Saturday morning training. Instead, for those who are able, there will be a 2 hour session on Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm.

[ENG] Every saturday the KCB dojo broadcasts a Naginata class, from 17:30-19:00 (LIS). The goal of these classes is to promote the practice of Naginata in Portugal and it is done under the supervision and support of the APNagi. Despite being aimed at Portuguese students, we always have many participants from other countries joining our practices. We are always glad to be able to have people from abroad attending our online Naginata classes. We are now sharing this playlist that will contain all future APNagi livestreams for everyone to watch. The video from the class is unedited. It is the full class as it was originally transmitted. We are (very) happy to receive feedback about the class, the choice of angles for the filming, the content, essentially about anything that can be done to help improve the class for their participants and people that might watch the class later on. If anyone wants specific content about something in particular, you can contact us and we will try to provide it (limited to our techincal understanding of Naginata, of course). See you soon! #naginata #livestream #youtube #budo #onlineclasses

07.01.2022 Fantastic to see so many people at training today - a little bit of bogu, a little bit of zen nihon and shikake-oji kata and a whole lot of great energy!

07.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who participated in the Gasshuku today; it can be difficult when we're working with a very fluid session structure and you all stepped up to help teach our visitors in a big way. Next week - seminar prep!

07.01.2022 This week's at home training video. https://youtu.be/AAlfdS74eWQ

06.01.2022 Sorry for the late notice but there will be no naginata training this Saturday. Go, enjoy the long weekend!

05.01.2022 At this stage we're likely to be able to restart in-person training on the 14th November. There will be restrictions that the MBK will confirm before we return and at this stage we are unlikely to be allowed to run a beginners course or invite non-members in until the end of the year. Keep an eye on your emails and I'll update here when we have something more concrete.

05.01.2022 The VNR exists to continue the practice of atarashii naginata in Victoria and help to increase knowledge and understanding of the form. There will be regular posts regarding the theory and history of naginata as well as updates on events and training sessions. We ask that you be polite in your posts and responses to others; we reserve the right to remove any comments or posts that we feel are hurtful or disrespectful to others.

04.01.2022 Unfortunately today's session this was a shorter than expected return to training! Due to the escalating lockdowns in the surrounding suburbs the dojo is being closed to training again, effective immediately. But oneday, someday, we shall return (like that weird smell in your bogu). Stay safe!

04.01.2022 Some lovely coverage in Nichigo Press of the recent seminar. http://nichigopress.jp/nichigo_news/monthly_news/174335/

04.01.2022 Wonderful to see so many people in the dojo today...and targeting Caelan and not me! Speaking of which, a big thanks to Caelan for leading the class for the first senior-focus half session - I'm looking forward to seeing what all our seniors decide to focus on in the future!

03.01.2022 So, those of you I have (current) email addresses for should have received one last night regarding training suggestions for at home. If not, or if you're a non-VNR naginata-ka, feel free to watch the YouTube playlist below. I'll keep addding things and feel free to ask questions or make suggestions and I'll try to post them online. Be safe and keep moving! https://www.youtube.com/playlist

03.01.2022 For any of you who've been asking about it, here's your chance to try jukendo /tankendo.
