21.01.2022 Hi everyone, quick update on returning International Queenslanders and potential regional locations in Queensland. The Queensland Government is working through... options for quarantine hubs for international arrivals, including in regional Queensland. The Gladstone area has been identified as a potential to accommodate some returning people. NO GLADSTONE CBD MOTELS ARE BEING LOOKED AT. The people returning are Queenslanders and are just trying to get home. These people are families and friends who want to get back home. Some of these people have been trying to get flights home for months and have had them cancelled. Hotel quarantine is very closely managed by Queensland Police Service and Queensland Health, with assistance from Australian Defence Force personnel, to ensure proper support, monitoring and supervision of quarantined people and keep the community safe. At this stage, the government is considering different options and I will keep the community informed along the way. Along with stringent border controls, social distancing and robust testing, quarantine is one of the most important tools in the fight to keep Queenslanders safe from COVID-19.

01.01.2022 126 of 250 Reconciliation Yarns #inthistogether #250yarns250years #reconciliation Reconciliation Australia Reconciliation Queensland Inc Trevor Tim from Cairns.... Trendy Trev, Murri from the Curry born out in Cloncurry. My beautiful Mother and Father, Mum’s from Cairns, Erub/Darnley Island women who is with me in spirit. Dad born in the Curry, a Curry man and he always say’s that he is the Murri from the Curry, he always wants to correct me on that (laughs). Because I have protection and respect for his will, I will run with that, he can be the Murri from the Curry. Grew up in the Curry, lived in Mt Isa, went to primary school there and started high school in Cairns. Mum wanted to come back to Cairns, so we moved the family to Cairns where Mum’s old stomping ground is. Growing up in Outback Queensland, a shout out to my Dad’s side, he’s the eldest of 11, his mob, my mob connection to Waanyi/Gangalidda, Burketown, Doomadgee, Mornington Island, that’s my mob out that way. It was deadly growing up in the Isa (Mt), a big shout out to family there. A beautiful mining town, strong in football, Rugby League which Dad put me into at the age of 9. I love football all my life, played football out there, primary school there, Sunset Primary School, I became captain of that school. I did start high school out there, I did 4 weeks at Kalkadoon High School before moving to Cairns where I went to Cairns High, represent ‘Bulldogs.’ I love life, I am high on life, always got a smile on my dial. I had a beautiful upbringing with my Mum and Dad, so I have always been in that happy mode. I wake up in the morning, Yes everything is all good, I’m fired up every day, I’m gonna have a good day. I have a sober attitude as well, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke or take drugs, never have and never will, so high on life and I feel that I was put on this earth to sprinkle happiness, that’s what I do. I married my high school sweetheart, Jackie and been together for 27 years and have respect for all our beautiful women out there. I finished high school and didn’t go any further with university, TAFE or an apprenticeship, Trevor Tim eries, that’s the only letters after my name (laughs). I am open to learning; we are students of life, so I am always learning. How did you get into radio? I lined up for television and they said, No we can’t help you and radio said, We will take you, I have the face for radio as we always say (laughs). I’m one of the Board of Directors here at Bumma Bippera Media 987fm (BBM) and have been for about 9 old years. Back then I was doing a Sunday show, 2 o’clock in the afternoon playing music beats called Motown Sound, a big shout out to Brother Bernard David who’s now with Apunipima (Apunipima Cape York Health Council), him and I started Motown Sound doing the Sunday Gig doing some little yarns but playing like Stevie Wonder, Supremes, Four Tops all that sort of stuff back in the day. When this position (National TalkBlack) became available they asked me to do it. At first, I was like I don’t want to do that show, I’m just here playing music, but I got into it and it helped the corporation out, I stuck with it and been here for about 7 years now. We do get a lot of kids here doing work experience, there is a beautiful foundation here for a school based traineeship which has been set up well by management here, a big shout out to the Board of Directors as well who have organised a good platform for young people to come through and to learn this fantastic industry where they can go further. We have a good relationship with Bima, Brisbane Indigenous Media Association who have AAA Training down there and put all our young ones, First Nations Students through for them to get certificate III and 4 in radio. Radio is a good tool and a powerful voice for our mob. As First Nations People you look at mainstream radio and our yarns are not on there, so this is good to tell our stories, our yarns, to promote our music. BBM is a community radio so it’s open to all conversations, we just don’t interview black people, it is a voice for our mob, and we yarn right across the table with all people from all walks of life and all different industries. When we talk about the political arena, when all the campaigns are on, the elections, we yarn with all the politicians and potential politicians. The other good tool in this industry is we get to yarn with the likes of Johnathan Thurston and the other stars out there, so I get to yarn with some famous people even from overseas like Jimmy Cliff, the old reggae Brother and also Bob Marley’s son. That comes with the territory which is fantastic. Especially to our young ones out there who are all into ‘texting mode’ and what have you, the message for you to pick up is ‘YOLO,’ you only live once, if you do it right then once is enough. My message is, we all have a past, but it doesn’t mean that we have to live there, tomorrow and your future is a clean slate so you can design your life as you see fit. My Grandad use to always say, Jet airplanes do not have mirrors, focus going forward, focus on your future. Design your life and live life to the fullest, that’s my message. #postpositive #livepositive
