25.01.2022 Staying connected with Cultural Tutor Dujon Niue who Zoomed in for our Cultural Repertoire class with Certificate III Developing Artists last week.

25.01.2022 We were so proud to support the amazing actor, singer, songwriter and writer Elaine Crombie in her powerful and moving performance of Sydney Theatre Company's The 7 Stages of Grieving last night. Written by Deborah Mailman and NAISDA Dance College Director Wesley Enoch, this gripping production includes new scenes looking at what has changed in the 26 years since the play first opened, and how far we still have to go. #NAISDA #dance #sydneytheatrecompany #performingarts

22.01.2022 If you're a dancer or choreographer experiencing financial distress, Actors Benevolent Fund might be able to assist. They understand the unique situation dancers face as a consequence of the physically demanding nature of your work, and the challenges presented by COVID-19. 21.01.2022 Today, NAISDA Dance College reflects on Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week as we move toward braver and more impactful action through our privileging of Indigenous Knowings. We endeavour to play and work in the space in between Indigenous Knowings and Western Knowledges; accessing, sharing and shedding our vulnerabilities without judgement. Finding our own space and place as a College, and as individuals within the collective, involves truth-telling to open up the bundle of possibilities in our storying of First Nations sovereignty: the foundation of a rich and deep connection to our understanding as a nation and our place within the universe. Join us. Artwork: Giddigool by J Samuels, 1986 #NAISDA #SorryDay #SorryDay2021 #Reconciliation

18.01.2022 After its world premiere last October in Brisbane, followed by screenings at film festivals across Australia, Firestarter - The Story of Bangarra opens in cinemas from today. Don’t miss this award-winning, remarkable documentary which presents an intimate look at the determination, pain and triumphs that have shaped Bangarra for over 30 years. This is a vital, none-more-timely film that speaks to Australia’s complicated past and present yet remains hopeful for the future.... A must watch. 17.01.2022 It was wonderful to welcome staff and students from NIDA's Directing for Performance and Writing for Performance courses onsite to meet NAISDA Dance College Practising Artists and Trainers yesterday. The day’s workshop provided the foundation for a week-long creative collaboration later in March when students from both arts training organisations will explore and share Stories, ideas, skills and mediums to develop into original creative works.

17.01.2022 Phone lines at NAISDA are currently down, and we don't have an estimated time of return. For emergencies, please contact 0403 384 456 to speak with a member of staff. Our emails are working.... Thank you for your patience!

16.01.2022 We couldn’t resist sharing a few photos of the youngest addition to join our Cultural Repetoire class Marcellus, Cultural Trainer Selina Berthalia Rueben’s young son. He quietly took it all in his stride whilst mum led the class from the studio. Too cute! Thanks for letting us share these beautiful pics, Sellie!

15.01.2022 We love all the beautiful photos and videos coming out of our Developing Artists' recent Cultural Residency. Here, our female Developing Artists can be seen learning to weave with Senior Cultural Tutor Balatj.

11.01.2022 Our very own NAISDA Dance College Practising Artist, Janaya Lamb, is performing her beautifully self-choreographed solo at Ocean Spirit Rising over the next few nights If you have some spare time, head down to the Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour and lend your support! See below for more details.

08.01.2022 We start this new week at NAISDA Dance College feeling connected to our Culture and renewed in our Spirit. Last week's Cultural Residency allowed us to learn first-hand from Elders and knowledge holders, a practice which informs the development of contemporary Indigenous dance in Australia Share a part of the experience as we look back at some of the special moments

07.01.2022 Sometimes you just have to dance! This is what happens when you take Cultural Tutors Dujon Niue, Jeanette Fabila, Head of Cultural Practice Jo Clancy and Developing Artists to the recording studio. We record the Cultural Tutors’ songs (with permissions) so we can continue to practice the dances in class. Sometimes the Developing Artists just can’t wait that long.... As always NAISDA sends big thanks to the wonderful Rod McCormack for opening up his recording studio in Erina to us.

07.01.2022 Our Developing Artists and staff are on their way home from Cultural Residency in Nyinyikay. We’ll be sharing lots of photos and videos when they return; but in the meantime, here’s a short film of the women collecting Gunga (pandanus) for weaving.

05.01.2022 Our Cultural Tutors Tony Ganambarr and Marcus Lacey took our male Developing Artists out fishing. What a catch!

05.01.2022 We are happy to advise that NAISDA phone lines are back up and working. Thank you for your patience over the last week.

02.01.2022 Congratulations to NAISDA Dance College Practising Artist Janaya Lamb for her beautiful self-choreographed solo at Darling Harbour earlier this week as part of Ocean Spirit Rising’s storytelling, connecting us to the waters of Sydney Harbour. #naisda #naisdadancecollege #dance #performingarts #practisingartist #solo #performance
