23.01.2022 In the lead-up to the 75th anniversary of VP Day, we're asking you to share your stories and remember our remaining WWII heroes. Whether you were personally on the battlefront of WWII or have a family story to tell, this is a place for Queenslander's to share their memories, show their support and connect with one another.
23.01.2022 Please let me know if you spot this Young Veteran or his vehicle. He is a member of Kawana Waters RSL SubBranch. Last seen in Mountain Creek early this morning.
18.01.2022 KEITH PAYNE V.C. For those of you who may have missed the story of Keith Payne on SBS last night I recorded it and converted it to Video format. It runs for about an hour and file size is too big to post here. Let me know if you want to see it and I will get a copy to you by arrangement. I can do this video in all popular formats to suit most tvs etc and can also make it into a DVD. This story is well worth watching. Keith Payne is not only a legendary hero, his work to help other vets over the years has been incredible.
18.01.2022 Mrs Eileen Smith turns 98 years young today. A War Widow who has lived in Nambour most if her adult life. She is a wonderful lady, still has her marbles in order and can't wait to be able to go out any time she wants, once this Covid business is over (bless her honesty). Happy Birthday Eileen!
14.01.2022 Finally at last, for all of you Sub Branch people who have heard about my dog I have posted a photo of him. When I bought him from the pet shop, the owner said that he was an unusual breed of canine which had its origin in Africa..He is different to most popular dogs and makes sounds that seem more like a roar than a bark at times. However I love him dearly and he is always by my side. So, I very proudly present to you, Toby the Dog.
13.01.2022 Attention all Navy Veterans or WW2 history buffs. The Sunshine Coast Model Boat Club are running their annual Pearl Harbour Naval Regatta. This is a great opportunity to check out some replica naval boats, such as the HMAS Tobruk, HMAS Brisbane, USS Tennessee and many other military fleet boats. Many of these military boats are owned ex-servicemen. https://fb.me/e/3OtaNkuf2
12.01.2022 Today is Brian Klease's 80th birthday. While we are unable to visit him, as his care facility is in lockdown, our Sub branch has put together this "care package" that should see him through till we can visit him again. Happy 80th Birthday Brian from all if us.
08.01.2022 Farewell, Walter Wallace, for eight long months, surrounded by German and Italian forces, you served with your fellow soldier of the Tobruk garrison; withstanding tank attacks, artillery barrages, and daily bombings. You endured the desert’s searing heat, the bitterly cold nights, and hellish dust storms whilst living in dug-outs, caves, and crevasses. You were a defender of Tobruk, and did not surrender, nor retreat. Your determination, bravery, and humour, combined with the aggressive tactics of the commanders you served under became a source of inspiration during some of the war’s darkest days. R.I.P. Digger Wallace.
05.01.2022 With all the talk surrounding alleged war crimes in Afghanistan, let us not forget those brave soldiers who unfortunately never came home. Lest we forget. RIP Lt. Fussell.
05.01.2022 For all you aviation enthusiasts out there....Check out this URL. Spitfire takeoff and landing guide from WW2. I have been told that they were a mongrel to take of and land due to narrow undercarriage, long and wide nose one could not see over and of course fighting the swing of the propeller which in most models required full left rudder. https://www.key.aero//74484-supermarine-spitfire-take-off-

02.01.2022 The hard reality of COVID-19 impacts in business and the community. Sad news from the Caboolture RSL yesterday evening. The Caboolture RSL is a not-for-profit community club located in the heart of Caboolture and as of Sunday the 13th of September they will be shutting their doors for the final time. We would like to thank them for everything they’ve done for their community as a whole. The Caboolture RSL Club has served the community and operated from the current site for over 50 years but have decided not to renew their lease and to cease trading completely as of the 14th of September 2020.
