25.01.2022 HOLIDAY PLAYDATE - Tomorrow @ 9am JR Ford Park - Pelican Waters Everyone welcome... friends, family, siblings! BYO Picnic Rug & Morning Tea. (Reminder: There are no toilets at this venue)

24.01.2022 Leaders come in all shapes and sizes but thankfully whoever God calls, he also equips. Last week, the Year 6 badged leaders joined together to enjoy a special morning tea and time of fellowship. Together with Mrs Baker and Mrs Donohoe, the students reflected on Moses’ journey as a leader and how God listened and understood his feelings of inadequacy. Moses desperately wanted God to let him take his brother Aaron with him on his journey as he did not feel confident to speak... before Pharaoh. As the story unfolds, we see how Moses grew in strength and courage and no longer needed his brother Aaron to talk for him. The students were encouraged to draw on God’s courage this year and to look to fellow leaders around them who can support and encourage them on their journey. The verse from Isaiah 41:10 was given as a reminder to the students, ‘Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.’ See more

23.01.2022 Today, our Year 12 Students were very fortunate to have Senior Constable Matthew Thornton from Nambour Police Station to come and answer some of their burning questions regarding laws, crime and life in the Police. With a tailored focus on wellbeing, Matt was able to address the cohort with a measured balance of honesty, humour, sincerity and genuine care for the students in our community. We feel incredibly blessed by Matt’s ongoing support and relationship with our College and eagerly look forward to our future visits from him.

21.01.2022 Junior School’s last half hour for 2020.

19.01.2022 Prep had a wonderful opportunity this week to work with Mrs Chamberlain to begin preparations for their first ever NCC Art Show, The Sensational Sunshine Coast. Students were given the opportunity to view and respond to various well-known artworks, and then to practise some new skills using oil pastels and blending colours to create a scene they might find on the beach. The students all enjoyed this opportunity to show their creative sides and we can’t wait to reveal their ...amazing landscape artworks in our annual art show on 30 March - 1 April. Year 4 students have also commenced practising some drawing techniques in preparation for the art exhibition The Sensational Sunshine Coast’. They looked carefully at a photograph and began to sketch in the basic shapes of the background, middle ground and foreground. The students experimented with the use of the medium of pen and watercolour wash. See more

09.01.2022 After three full days of energetic, action packed, limited sleep and amazing meals on camp, then a return to school for two ‘normal’ days, it has been a bitter-sweet bite of reality and that’s just for the teaching staff. Our Year 7 camp was a wonderful time of FAITH, FOCUS and FRIENDS as the various groups connected over team-work adventures like canoeing and building catapults. Students also achieved personal goals in individual challenges like rock climbing and the mid-ro...pes course where they had to give their all - Ms English gave her all and left a piece of herself behind (leaving camp with a chipped tooth!). Of particular note was the ‘best meals on a school camp’ opinion by Mr Ford. Not sure about the thoughts from the girls but for the boys it was bliss! From scrambled eggs and sausages, cereals and fruits, and ham/cheese croissants for breakfasts, pizzas, pies and chips, burgers and ice blocks for lunches and oven baked chicken, beef lasagne and vegetables with desert for dinners, what more could a boy wish for. Most of the boys ‘rolled’ away laughing and talking. However, beyond all of these incredible accomplishments, adventures and appetites, the part of camp that will really make a difference as we return to school is the friendships that have been created and the comradery that has been built within the Year 7 classes. It was the fulfilment of personal goals for Ms English and Mr Ford to see seven teams powerfully encouraging their mates on the final day being challenged by the heights and depths of the ‘ooey-gooey, slippery-slidey’ Mud Pit Challenge! Being splashed with the overflow of muddy residue from the souls of worn-out sneakers was overshadowed by hearing our seven coloured teams chanting about bananas, orange juice and silver kookaburras. Mixed into this atmosphere were the screams of encouragement like ‘you got this’ and ‘you’re better than you think you are’ and a proud tear being wiped from Ms English’s eye. As we reflect on camp for another year, and plan to use these new skills back at school, it is with great anticipation that the teachers acknowledge this time as an outstanding experience of growth and challenge; pushing us out of our comfort zone and pulling us together as a cohort.

05.01.2022 Meliora Cogito or I strive for the best, perfectly sums up what we are aiming to achieve in our enrichment program, launching in 2021. As the Teacher Coordinator, I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work with our gifted and talented students. Developing a program that will extend and enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of the world, harness curiosity and promote a genuine love of learning is an exciting prospect for me. As a passionate and enthusia...stic educator, I come to this position with 17 years teaching experience in a variety of pastoral, academic and school leadership roles, in schools across Queensland and the Northern Territory, in addition to heading up a wide variety of co-curricular pursuits. Currently, I teach English, Christian Studies and Philosophy but also have a background across a range of Humanities subjects, PE and LOTE. I genuinely believe in the pursuit of holistic education for children, and know this program will be a wonderful addition to the academic, sporting and cultural activities our students at NCC already undertake. With anticipation, I look forward to sharing our 2021 learning journey with the NCC community. An application for the 2021 Middle School Meliora program is available on the parent portal. Applications are due by 30 November 2020. Mrs Alana Gread-Power See more
