21.01.2022 Many are willing to drop over $25k at a wedding, but scoff at a midwife that charges $6k for her services, or a doula that charges $1k, or a birth photographer that charges $1500. If you want a solid birth team of professionals present, be willing to invest in your team and your birth! I’m also here to tell you that neither of these options have to cost you much at all. 18.01.2022 LOOKING FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: Photo shoot for Breastfeeding Awareness 1.- Enthusiastics breastfeeding mothers that are interested in participating on the... photoshoot and, 2.- Breastfeeding supporting community members (young and old, men and women) that are willing to participate in the project A few weeks ago I read a mama's post about not feeling comfortable breastfeeding her baby here in town, and she was hoping that Bellingen has a place where mums could breastfeed their baby in a quiet private place, which I totally understand. At the same time, this post brought me to question why mums should be hiding or tuck away to feed their bubs. This is a totally natural and beneficial way of nurturing our young. These mums should be supported and encouraged. So I thought of a creative way to raise awareness within the community and make breastfeeding mums feel supported, part of the community and acknowledged for the great work that they are doing! This is not a new idea, I know it has been done before but I thought it would be great to do a local version. My vision is to organise a photoshoot of the breastfeeding mothers in this community, hopefully we can get good numbers to see the representation within the community and mainly get 2 shots, one from breastfeeding mothers and the second shot of the breastfeeding mothers surrounded by members of the community that are supportive. If you are interested please can in touch with me and I'll set a date for the first few weeks of December.

17.01.2022 So special getting to enter the postpartum bubble of my birth mentoring client, witness her fitting into new her skin as a mother and meet her gorgeous newborn ...bub. We debriefed her birth experience, accompanied by a slide show of epic photos and video clips taken by @nambuccabirthphotographer. Before I left I put some nourishing treats and dinner in her fridge for tonight. Laura travelled with me through my birth mentoring journey over 6 sessions in her pregnancy. I admired her willingness & open mind to learn about the ultimate conditions for physiological birth, navigating the hospital system and ultimately, come to know herself the birthing woman. We also spent a session on planning for postpartum. Laura made many shifts during our time together, letting go of limiting thought concepts and bringing her courage to the surface. I'm not surprised one bit that she had a birth that she feels proud of. I loved hearing the replay of your powerful birth roar, Laura. 13.01.2022 I'm seeing a number of posts lately, discussing what certain hospitals 'require' of birthing women. 'You can labour upright, but we require you to lay on your b...ack to deliver the baby'. Or 'if you have any risk factors, we require you to have ergometrine'. Fortunately for us, we don't quite yet live in a living version of The Handmaid's Tale, and we as women retain bodily automony. If your hospital 'requires' something of you that you're not comfortable with, find a new care provider, or simply remind them policy is not law, and quite frankly, you can do whatever the funk you like. Every policy requires your consent, and you're free to decline absolutely anything - your body, your baby, your choice. The end.

Nothing is staged. Sure you could do a family lifestyle shoot and play around on the beach, but you still know you’re there for the photographer. 06.01.2022 When should you book your birth photographer? ASAP. It is much better to book your birth photographer sooner, rather than later. ... Firstly because most birth workers can only take a limited number of clients each month. For me it’s just 1 or 2 birth clients - that can be solely birth or birth/doula combined. Secondly, it will give you time to get to know your photographer. To get comfortable with each other because after all, they’re going to be sharing your birth space with you! A space you should consider sacred. The energy of every other person in the room with you, WILL affect how you birth whether they intend it to or not, so it’s really important that you feel safe with them. Thirdly, I can’t speak for all birth photographers, but with me, I can get you connected to all sorts of support and resources that you’ll find helpful along the way. The more time you have to prepare for your birth, the better! And lastly, the sooner you book the longer you have to pay off the session fee. Most birth photographers happily offer payment plans just like I do, so that you can budget your birth photography into your finances easily. Documenting your birth has so many more benefits than just pretty pictures to look at. Looking back at your photos will reduce stress, increase oxytocin, give you a clear understanding of your birth story and timeline to help you work through any questions you may have and of course with a print package like mine, you’ll also have an heirloom keepsake to pass down through the generations, empowering your children. 05.01.2022 Being pregnant comes with SO many changes. Emotionally and physically. You’re shape-shifting. Your entire body is changing shape, preparing for one of the biggest and most important roles of its life. Some women adore being pregnant, others, not so much.... Whichever way you feel however, comes the opportunity to embrace your new body and beauty in a different way. There is nothing more stunning in the purest form than the pregnant body. Sometimes the challenge for us when we are with child is to see ourselves as others see us. How our children see us, or will see us. How different would we feel if we embraced and appreciated EVERY change to our body? My belly is growing... Wonderful! That means my baby is growing too! I have stretch marks - Thank goodness! My body is stretching to make room for my healthy growing baby. My breasts don’t fit in any of my clothes anymore - Fabulous! My breasts are getting ready to nourish my beautiful baby. One of my greatest joys is helping women see themselves as beautiful. My promise to you if we work together is to help you see the beauty in yourself that I see in you, that your loved ones see in you, and that you deserve to see in yourself. xx See more
