19.01.2022 Never leave children or pets alone in a car With the forcasted high temperatures in the coming week you need to be mindful of the conditions that can occur in a... car. On a typical Australian summer day, the temperature inside a parked car can be more than double the temperature outside. That means that on a 30C day, the temperature inside the car can reach over 60C! A child or pet left in a parked car under those conditions for even a few minutes can very quickly become distressed, dehydrated and can die from organ failure. 75% of the temperature increase occurs within five minutes of closing the car Darker-coloured cars can reach slightly higher temperatures than lighter-coloured cars Large cars can heat up just as fast as small cars The colour of interior trim has little effect on the speed that the temperature can increase inside a car Having the windows down 5cm causes only a slight decrease in temperature with an outside temperature of around 30C What are the risks? -The temperature and humidity inside the car begin to increase while the airflow decreases -As the temperature increases inside the car, the child or pet can begin to develop heat stress and start to dehydrate -Young children are more sensitive to heat than older children and adults. This can put them at greater risk of heat stroke and other health risks More info https://www.mynrma.com.au//what-to-do-if-you-see-a-child-l #frnsw #preparedforanything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

18.01.2022 Hello all. Just a quick update in regards to our 2020 santa run. As we are all aware, this year has thrown up a lot of challenges for us, and at Nambucca Fire and Rescue NSWand we have been thinking very hard about how we can safely continue our annual run. We have been, and will continue to carefully watch the advice coming from NSW Health over the next two days. We have come to some unfortunate decisions however.... 1) We will not be handing out lollies THIS year. This is because unfortunately it becomes very difficult to keep kids from social distancing especially in the caravan parks when distributing lollies from the truck. 2) We will NOT be visiting the tourist parks this year. This is because for us to safely navigate the parks we require staff to be on foot to keep everyone safe, and again it would be too difficult to maintain safe social distancing in this instance. We are very sorry to do this to our visitors to our valley this year, and we look forward to seeing you every year. However this year we feel its in everyones best interests to only have Santa visit when he is dropping off your presents. 3)Santa will not be getting out of the truck for photos this year. While we are sure there will be some disappointment within the community, we have chosen to do this to try and keep everyone safe, and our staff safe while still taking santa for his trip.

02.01.2022 Two of our firefighters have been injured at a bushfire on the north coast today, when a tree fell across their truck. Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Paul Bax...ter said: On Sunday 10 November, Fire and Rescue NSW crews from the Nambucca Heads area were in attendance at a bushfire on Kian road from 10:30am. At around 3:14pm, a falling tree impacted one of our Fire and Rescue trucks. One firefighter was partially outside the truck when the tree fell, causing injuries to her head and neck. The impact of the tree falling on the roof also caused head injuries to another firefighter inside the truck. Both firefighters were attended to by NSW Ambulance paramedics and have been transferred to hospital in a stable condition. Fire and Rescue NSW remains updated on their recovery.

01.01.2022 Final week. Get in now if you are interested. Next intake will be next year https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/page.php?id=11

01.01.2022 12 months to the day.. This day shook 397 badly. And threw into stark relief just how risky this job can be. Thank goodness that everyone survived. The road to recovery is continuing for both our firefighters. But we are still looking forward to seeing them back on the truck soon.
