25.01.2022 Dear nannies - thank you. To the nannies that never stopped working through the crisis, helping essential workers continue their important work, we noticed. As many others got recognition from coworkers, colleagues, and the public, we know you arrived at the home each day without that thanks and still got the job done. To the nannies who self-isolated at home in between work shifts to keep their families safe, putting yourselves at risk, your families are safer bec...ause of your selflessness. To the nannies that stepped up to become teachers and tutors, we know you deserved a higher pay rate, we know you didn't complain, we know you just got on with it and we know that you experienced the same amount of pressure without the public praise and thanks. Your dedication helped kids through the disruption of the school year and played a role in their education to come. To the nannies that provided much needed emotional support to families in crisis, your support and love probably got every family to the end of each week feeling like they were coping. We know that your families felt you take on some of the burdens and may not have acknowledged or thanked you for it. We know you were there for the kids, helping them through new and confronting emotions and even though they were little moments, you helped them cope. To the nannies who lost their job, and were stuck without government support, we hope you're doing okay! The job market is opening up and we hope to see you working again soon. We are here to help if you need any advice or support. To the nannies who stepped out of the workforce for their own health concerns, we know it was hard to put your own needs first. But your decision helped flatten the curve and you deserve to make the right call for yourself. --- Being a smaller industry means we often don't get the attention of the media or politicians but we know that all of the hard work done by nannies in this crisis was essential and we are so proud to be a part of such a fundamental support network for Aussie families. 24.01.2022 The Find Your Own Nanny digital course is going through some exciting updates. All users have received an extension and you should have a text notifying you on how to access the content of you need it over the next couple of weeks. We apologise for the interruption. The exciting new build is going to look less glamorous than this I’m off to juggle a temp nanny role by day and web development by night. Luckily I have an incredible team helping me! 24.01.2022 What a week! To every single nanny that has provided services to essential workers - . We know that working for any family is a risk. Be sure to take care of yourself this weekend. Pour a glass of wine, have a bubble bath, do some virtual yoga or FaceTime some friends. You deserve it! Just remember that your work is making such a difference to society as we try and navigate the health and financial ramifications of COVID-19. 24.01.2022 I found this photo recently. Hiding behind some very extroverted daughters you'll see my Mum, Cathy. This is her with 5 girls under 7 bathing a newborn in the tub. Yes, that's me, the attention seeker posing at the ripe age of 6 years old. Running a business sees learning the skills of every role that falls under the Nanager umbrella. I've reflected on my top skills lately and I'm proud that to this day, my top skill is working with children. I'm often asked how I go...t into it and then answer is simple... I was born into it! This is an appreciation post to my first mentor, Mum. I've worked for so many families and it makes me sit back in awe as I remember how chaotic our house was. I wouldn't have it any other way. I've had babies around me my whole life (not only am I the second eldest of 5 girls but also the 2nd eldest of 25 cousins) and so working with children has been with me my entire life. Jump to leaving school my Mum was working in childcare and I started fulltime work as an educator straight away. Working with children is something Mum and I have always bonded over. She taught me the art of how working with kids you're a little bit a parent, a little bit a teacher but most of all a mate. This week I officially placed my Mum as a Nanager and it made my heart swell with pride. They are a lucky family to have her and I'm a lucky daughter to call her my mother. See more
22.01.2022 We are experiencing such a large volume of new enquiries from nannies and families desperate for a solution at this crazy time. This week alone we have implemented nannies working remotely to help with the overflow of Skype interviews we are processing in preparation for what we think is going to be a very busy couple of months. This means that a lot of time this week has been dedicated to onboarding the new team and establishing efficient workflows to make everyone's exper...ience seamless. We are still ironing things out but from next week it should be a well-oiled machine. While we wish we could help anyone, we can't. Moving forward we will only be recruiting for shifts that are at least 7 consecutive hours per day. In order to help with the overflow, we wanted to introduce families to We Need A Nanny who is our preferred online matchmaking service for nannies and families. To help provide families better access to solutions, they've lowered the normal $75 fee down to $20 until Easter. Here's some tips on how to DIY a nanny search! We recommend that you still consult Fair Work Ombudsman to ensure that you are meeting minimum wage, NannyPay to support you in payroll set up and Boss Nanny to set up an employment contract. Make sure you verify WWCC, First Aid +CPR certificates, working experience with children and call two references that experienced them working with children. Please contact any of the above pages if you need any help! If you want us to recruit and hire for you, please fill out this form and the team will be in touch! https://www.nanager.com.au/family-application-form
22.01.2022 Now that restrictions are lifting the nanny job market seems to be waking up again with jobs and applicants increasing! This week has seen 4 times as many applicants come through compared to recent weeks. This is going to increase further as Government support shifts and parents start returning to work. It's been really surprising how many applicants put in little to no effort to their application or send through a completely outdated resume - trust me we notice this. Once... we do reach out remember, every interaction (emails, messages, FB posts) we have with you is influencing our decision prior to even interviewing you. It's never been more important than ever to have your application stand out from the pile. We've had the lovely Amanda (Nanny of Oz) jump on the blog again to share her insights on how you can put your best foot forward in your nanny job search.
21.01.2022 As another nap time draws to a conclusion we just want to give a friendly reminder that you are not there to entertain for the kid's every waking moment. Sometimes supervision is enough as they dive into their own mind, with some uninterrupted solitary play. Solitary play is key to helping kids evolve their creativity, imagination and if that's not enough, it'll give you some peace! Like many things, it comes with practice and the more they are used to it, the more you can rely on it. More ranting on the blog >>
21.01.2022 Has anyone used AI with kids? It's amazing to see the way this new technology is used in education. With kids engaging so much on their phones these experiences are a great way to offer that screen time effectively. This experience (built in partnership with ABC Australia and PHORIA) centres around how you can be more prepared for strong weather that we have been seeing lately. It was really fun to watch and interact with. Highly recommend you give it a try with the kids (aged 7 and up maybe for the reading factor.) Simply jump on a later model phone and use your camera to scan this QR code and then find a surface to watch it all come to life! Grab it here: http://abc.net.au/mtresilience

18.01.2022 As lockdown 2.0 kicks off we are still offering recruitment services for families. If you're a nanny seeking work please check out our new roles below (2 posted only yesterday). All families and candidates must highlight that they are following lockdown and social distancing laws and anyone engaging in services at this time must sign a COVID-19 waiver. This is to support you in understanding the risks and obligations to keep everyone as safe as possible during this time. We... continue to stand by both nannies and families that are opting out of nanny services during this time. It's everyone's right to decide how much they want to risk their own exposure. We are also very mindful that many parents are essential workers desperate for care and many nannies are finding themselves out of work, without the option for Government support. https://mailchi.mp/d18136d3808d/r91ewu9nvi-4232270
18.01.2022 Introducing Find Your Own Nanny - by Nanager. I've spent the past few months working on something pretty special. Of course, we are still here to recruit for those wanting our help! But for many it's possible to DIY your nanny search, saving you thousands in agency fees. 14.01.2022 This week has been a rollercoaster. Due to the drastic changes to everyone's lives we've seen an influx of jobs, lots of nannies losing their jobs and a wave of new professionals enter the nanny industry. This week we've implemented a team of remote nannies to help us Skype interview, changes to workflow to help families DIY their nanny search and started building a range of information resources for people trying to navigate the nanny industry. There are many conversations that I seem to have every day. So today I sat down and filmed it. Looking forward to getting these out to the wider community to help families find solutions and nannies find jobs. What do you need help understanding? Comment below

The past few weeks we spent the downtime working hard on a brand new product that's going to change the way families recruit and more importantly create more nanny jobs. Launching August 2020.... 10.01.2022 There is so much discussion in the community right now about what is the right solution for families as they experience huge disruptions to work, schools and childcare. While nannies are the perfect solution for many, families won't receive the childcare rebate towards their nanny. This makes nanny costs even higher in these challenging times (especially with the announcement of free childcare). But, while the costs are higher, so is the value. We got Amanda from Nanny of Oz on the blog to highlight the benefits of investing in a nanny service for your family, especially during COVID-19.

07.01.2022 Yesterday was a crazy day of confusion. There has been no official ruling for nannies and who can or can't continue work. I had a lot of stressed nannies calling me and while I couldn't give an official answer, I found a real theme to the conversation. Let's start remembering this for what it is - a global pandemic. Remember that we are all doing what we can to cope. Be kind to others and more importantly be kind to yourself. Until there is a ruling, everyone just needs to stay informed and continue to make the right decisions to keep everyone safe. Here are my top tips for nanny self-care during this time. >>

03.01.2022 Until further notice, we will be unable to recruit for new nanny arrangements in Melbourne . I think the DHHS and Business Victoria has given us a different answer every day about which nannies can and can't continue to work during stage 4 restrictions. Are there loopholes? Sure, but it's about doing the right thing and we want to be on the right side for getting Melbourne back to normal. I'll be checking every day to see if things change. In the meantime, the team... is going to spend this time sharing resources, tips, and whatever else we can to support parents and nannies during this time. Nanagers - you will still see jobs on the job board that have start dates in the future. Families are getting prepared for when stage 4 restrictions lift so we will be hosting virtual interviews to have arrangements ready to go as soon as possible.
