25.01.2022 Grass seeds digging in between the toes would not be a pleasant experience, as 'Whistler' here knows, but his mum has now bought him a new set of boots! Very fashionable too, with zips and velcro, and a racing stripe! Now 'Whistler' can safely and securely head back to the park for walks with his owner. It remains to be seen as to whether 'Whistler' really appreciates his new boots, or whether he will try to lose them at the first opportunity...or whether his mum can even get them on again before each walk :) Those feet may be moving targets!

19.01.2022 Stay calm and love your pets! Prepare a pandemic protocol. Ensure to wash your hands before and after handling your pets and their bowls, and don't kiss or sleep with them during the COVID-19 crisis. Keep up their healthcare; your vet is open. Feed and water as normal, wash and dry bowls as normal, walk the dog as normal. Limited by constraints you say? Go around the house 10 times, or up and down the balcony or the verandah. If a bloke can run a marathon on his balcony, just... imagine what a dog could do. Use your creativity. Be prepared and plan. Think of all the things you can do together. Clean the house, tidy the garden, cut grass, start a herb patch, sew, read....Happy owner, happy pet. Happy pet, happy owner. Concerned about your pets contracting or transmitting SARs-CoV-2? Human to Human transmission remains the ONLY significant path of viral spread according to Dr Rachel Korman of Veterinary Specialist Services based in Brisbane. Read Rachel's take on the test positive cat in Belgium and the 2 Hong Kong positive dogs, all with COVID-19 positive owners. https://www.vss.net.au//cat-tested-positive-for-sars-cov-2 Stay calm and love your pets! They need you now more than ever. Include them in your protocols for home hygiene control, and enjoy their loyal and devoted company. See more

17.01.2022 KOALA MATING SEASON IS HERE!! Take care on the roads. These guys are out looking for girls, and have NO road sense. Our koalas are PRECIOUS! No other country has native koalas. We must not lose them. This little man was brought in with head trauma, and was sedated, treated and stitched up. A BIG THANK YOU to Steve, of SQ Parcel Service, who found and delivered him here early in the morning, and also to Murray, of Koala Rescue, who drove from Caloundra to collect him for on-going care. Hopefully, he will recover and be released back home. Please support Koala Rescue Service. Hotline 0423 618 740.

16.01.2022 So proud of her puppies! Meet Frenchie, who was delivered of 6 healthy pups by caesarian here at the clinic this week. Mum and family are doing well. So cool!!

13.01.2022 How beautiful!! And the pups are lovely too :) .... Two dappled Dachshunds, snuggling up to veterinary assistant Katelyn. Both pups are pre-sold, but we just wanted to show them off to you, and the breeder said we could. So...enjoy!

13.01.2022 Have you been keeping on top of your cat's vaccinations? This is the cat flu season, making it even more important to check that your cat is up to date. 'Kidden' here loves to make himself at home in the clinic, looking very comfortable as usual.

10.01.2022 Reduce Risks of Transmissible and Zoonotic Disease Basic Hints from your Veterinarian: 1. Cough or sneeze, runny eyes or nose, fever? Stay home if you are unwell, especially if you have respiratory symptoms. Don't put others at risk. Call your doctor who may decide to organize a test referral. 2. Wash hands frequently using soap, especially if you are out and about and touching counters etc. Carry your own soap/disinfectant container, or use the available units if clean. 3. K...eep a mask or face cover handy. Wear it if needed. You have every right to do so, within the law for where you are. 4. Wear and change disposable gloves if and as needed, particularly if constant washing is difficult. You have every right to do so. 5. Keep a disposables bag handy, to put your own used Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in and seal as filled. 6. Immune compromised or have medical conditions already? Stay home if you can. Call friends, neighbours or charity groups to assist with supplies where appropriate. Groceries can be paid for over the phone or on the internet. 7. Avoid shaking hands. Stay Safe. Keep your loved ones safe. Look out for each other.

09.01.2022 Meet gorgeous Grace, a little Jersey calf who has been hand-raised since being born premature and then breaking her leg. Grave is very brave, and travels for her check-ups on the back seat of the car. Despite the splint, Grace loves to run and play and is doing very well. What a good girl!

08.01.2022 A BABY FOAL!! Well, a foetus actually, but a 4 month foetus by by the dates and size, and what a little beauty!! Went in, had a look; yes, there's the fluid in the amniotic sac, and the placental wall...where is the foetus? I'll just bounce it a little - and whoompa, up she (honestly, no idea what the sex is) came!! Like JAWS. What a stunner! Enjoy the moment...a little pleasure as we move towards our greatest challenge as a country, and the world as a global community, Many ...must be front line soldiers once again, putting their lives on the line. Show respect, follow instructions, pre-empt and avoid danger, take care of yourselves and each other. We must stand together - at least 2m apart. We need each other, not a lawless society. Be strong. Thank you Researchers, Thank you Medicos, nurses. For your upcoming trials, God Speed. Stay safe. See more

07.01.2022 Paralysis tick cases continue to come in to the clinic for treatment. Remember to check your pets daily for paralysis ticks. Scratching all over is best, and your pet will usually love this, as it is like getting a massage from your best friend every day. Very relaxing. The ticks may be walking across the coat or already attached by their probosci (mouthpart). Ticks can attach anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the head and neck. Come in to see us about the b...est preventative treatment available for your pet. We have a suitable range of medications available immediately for purchase. Ticks can kill. Don't delay. The picture shows engorging female ticks that have been removed from a pet. Note the long mouthparts and the bunching of the legs near the head. Cattle ticks have short mouthparts and the legs are spaced down the length of the body. Call us if you find a tick attached to your pet. See more

04.01.2022 More beautiful puppies in the world!! Tasha is very proud of her little ones, having a rest in their very own picnic basket, after being delivered by caesarian a few days prior. All went well, and the puppies are growing fat due to their mother's milk on tap.

03.01.2022 Three beautiful Maine Coon kittens - bright-eyed and ready for action. Watch out curtains - here we come! Delivered by caesarian here at the clinic when mum was in a bit of trouble, these kittens have gone ahead in leaps and bounds. Interested in Maine Coon kittens? Contact us here at the clinic and we can put you in contact with the breeder of these little kittens - soon to be rather larger when they grow up.

03.01.2022 Getting down and dirty after recent rains, driving to and from the Eastern Branch Road of the Brisbane River to see a patient. Photos below show the gamut of changes over the last few months, from the severe drought conditions on 'Gibbarnee', to fires in the paddocks started by dry lightning strikes, to the sheer pain and stark beauty of the drought, to the current green drought situation. Livestock are now improving in condition, and spirits have lifted, but the river still... has not had a flush, let alone run. Previously dry springs, recently graded to deepen, provide limited but life-saving seepage water. Such a change from the devastating floods of 2010-11 where the river raged from it's source just above the property, powering through the gorge and scouring out all in its path. The up-rooted trees still lie amidst the now drought-stunted re-growth. Well-described in Dorothea Mackellar's poem My Country: 'I love a sunburnt country A land of sweeping plains Or ragged mountain ranges Of droughts and flooding rains.' So harsh, so tough, so beautiful. The Full Gamut:Our Country
