21.01.2022 Pretty little orchids Captured in the limelight Of night-drawing sun A vainglorious moment,... You were a choir of angels Swelling the firmament Sunlit voices of renewal In joyful celebration, And I heard your song And I celebrated too, This spring fueled conceit This most glorious occasion I knelt down, in adoration To record through the lens Your vainglorious moment Photo & poetry by Nancy Wilkinson #perthlife #perthisok #perthnow #loveperth #westernaustralia #kingsparkperth #naturephotography #poetsofinstagram #poetryislife #springtime

20.01.2022 Three days bushwalking trails in Denmark Western Australia with a small group of Y Striders friends; 23km section of the Bibbulmun Track, a section of the Nornalup-Albany Heritage Railway Trail and the Wilderness Ocean Walk. At this time of year the trails are rather special. The wildflowers are in full bloom; so pretty, varied and prolific, covering hillsides, dressing stretches of woodlands, alongside large outcrops of rock and skirting coastal trails. An absolute treat! @ Denmark, Western Australia

17.01.2022 Silhouetted Trees Silhouetted trees Cast darkness over the lake A mirrored reflection in the fading night Backlit by a pale orange glow... Of setting sun The night lake becomes a bird sanctuary as flock after flock of cormorant swoop low, then up and around, over the lake before adroitly landing on one of many trees dressing the little inland island Along the outer shore, foraging clucking ducks, ripple the reflection A spoonbill heron, stark white against the evening dim Creeps, with gentle motion, the river dregs With stealth, an egret balancing on one leg, gracefully poised, moves with quickness, her prey momentarily flapping the air While snoot and blue feathered water fowl forage the shore, this way, that way. Some ducks quarrel, increasing the velocity of ripple, sending shivers across the lake surface All the while, birds hither to and fro, land on a branch here, fly again, choose another branch, land, as beaks finally seek feathers to comb and settle The sky presents in softening hues from bright orange to a blush with rising mauve, darkening blue. It is peaceful, despite bird flight, despite bird cries. A sliver of moon and nearby Saturn, hang in a cloudlessly pure early night. A mosquito hovers, bites; distracting my reverie. Time to leave my night-lake absorption to feathered ritual. Despite the bite, my heart is filled. 10.01.2022 My photos of last night's Super Blue Blood Moon...love the beautiful colours in the sky earlier in the evening

09.01.2022 Memoirs of a Geisha, An Artist of The Floating World, The Ginger Tree...novels that I’ve read, set in Japan, which have cast a romantic view of Japan that undo...ubtedly belong to the pages of history. Japan has embraced western culture interweaving east and west in ways that are interesting, sometimes funny, sometimes cute but unique in modern Japan. One city though is renowned for its retention of traditional style in architecture and clothing. Graceful, culturally rich with quiet temples, shrines, beautiful gardens and is a taste of old Japan. This third posting is from Kyoto. See more

07.01.2022 The beauty of a a walk for coffee, to and from Kings Park, on a hot and humid day in Perth.

06.01.2022 Touchdown in Japan. Cherry blossoms, experiencing ‘different’ in Asia within a culture, a country, a nation with pride of good manners, cleanliness and order. T...he trains run on time and are very fast, the streets and railway stations free of litter or graffiti, politeness is paramount and we two travellers are, after one week, grateful for English speaking Japanese and those willing to go the extra step to help a foreigner. We are enjoying Japan. We are enjoying the food and we are very happy to see the beautiful cherry blossoms. We are happy that we’ve, mostly, negotiated travelling on the railway system without too many errors. (One express train took us miles past our destination) This first post from Osaka. See more

02.01.2022 We wanted to pay respect and to have an upfront understanding of the horror of the atomic bombing of Japan, by visiting a city devastated; laid derelict in tota...l destruction of everything. This awful tragedy immediately killed almost everyone within a 2 km radius of the epicenter, in 1945. An estimated 140,000 died within the first year and more since, of related illnesses. Today, the city is a dedicated peace memorial to the dead, with facilities to educate the world of the awful cost and consequences of atomic warfare. Today a city of beautiful parks and peace remembrance memorials, is renewed. It is considered one of Japan’s most desired places to live. This second posting is from Hiroshima. ‘War is the work of man. War is destruction of human life. War is death. To remember the past is to commit oneself to the future. To remember Hiroshima is to abhor nuclear war. To remember Hiroshima is to commit oneself to peace. ‘ Pope John Paul II

01.01.2022 Playing peekaboo with a beautiful Super Blue Blood Moon. My favourites photos are those of the moon cradled in the bough of the Norfolk Pine. However, the whole evening's spectacle was a wonder to gaze on.
