21.01.2022 Second cultivation, looking good

19.01.2022 Woohoo! Early finish. Been waiting for this for the past fortnight. Reckon Ill get 5mm by the end of the day and if I get another 5+mm on Thursday it will be cultivation time. Not counting chickens just yet, but feeling hopeful .

18.01.2022 This farming caper is replete with its fair share of ironies and silver linings. So today, after 17mm of rain, the paddock was too wet to continue cultivating. On the upside, I replaced the shredded plough tire, fixed a split distribution pipe from the bore and fixed a leaking water trough; whilst appreciating the virescent landscape. Tomorrow...? Back on the tractor :)

17.01.2022 It’s not bucketing down, but nice & steady

17.01.2022 Todays sunset. Been rather muggy, windy & dusty. Kept the flies off at least :)

17.01.2022 So close to finishing cultivating, but then one of the plough tires got shredded. Thats OK, finish it off tomorrow. I can hear the pitter-patter of rain passing over, hopefully it gets a bit heavier overnight.

12.01.2022 Me sowing on Monday day & night. The onboard headlights stopped working years ago, so strapped a couple of LED magnetic work lights to the tractor. Kept me going till 9pm before calling it quitz. It was a good days work.

07.01.2022 The past week has been fantastic. Managed to free up the Coarse/Fine selector that had been seized, new HT nuts & bolts for various plates & cleaned out the hopper, ready for this years sowing.

All the timber has been sourced from fallen limbs. No trees have been felled to stockpile this resource. Replanting native species to increase the farms bio-diversity and habitats, is an integral part of managing this farm. Last year we planted 1,500 native trees/shrubs, which also provide the additional benefit of mitigating soil erosion and improving beneficial, below surface microbial activity.
