24.01.2022 Dear Nangiloc & Colignan School Community, What a great school community we have! Welcome back to the Prep to 2 students, it was great to have Miss Motts class back this week. Everyone was excited to catch up with friends and 100% attendance is a great way to restart in Term 2. We’re looking forward to welcoming the year 3 to 6 students on June 9th. Thank you parents and carers for all your hard work to support online learning. It's only been possible with your persistence ...and engagement. The online experience has been a challenging success and there’ll be lots of things we’ve all learnt. We have really enjoyed building stronger relationships with home and school, I’d love this to continue. I’m pleased that all our dedicated students have continued to make great progress in the core learning areas. It’s been impressive to watch their confidence and resilience shine through the isolation. Your children really value education! Thank you to our great teachers and support staff who have worked tirelessly during this time. You have met the challenges of online learning with creative enthusiasm. I respect how you just got on with the job. Although I think we’re all looking forward to spending time with our students and no more Zoom meetings for awhile... Thank you to Nicole, Daniel, Mark and all others for making our community garden thrive. Each week we would like to share the produce, please feel free to take from the table of freshly grown vegetables and fruit over the coming months. Stay safe with only two weeks to go before we’re all back and can begin the new normal. Look after each other, we're all in this together. Ben Crum Principal Nangiloc Colignan Primary School

16.01.2022 Dear Nangiloc & Colignan School Community, I hope you’re all safe and well. Unfortunately, we are back to ‘stage 3 restrictions’ which means remote learning for all students in regional and rural Victoria. We’ve made it through this before and we’re well prepared to deliver learning online. Working together and support-ing each other will be essential, something this community does exceptionally well. A full program of reading, writing and math will be offered to all students... plus any existing additional learning support. The students in years 3-6 will be familiar with the planning documents and expectations as these reflect the classroom routines. Miss Mott will contact Prep-2 families to communicate how online learning will look for the younger students. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support this transition, it will be a stressful time for many and we all want the best for the kids. Tomorrow will be a student fee day and we’ll have a practice run with Zoom at 12:00 on Wednesday. The iPads will be ready for pickup on Tuesday afternoon and we’ll begin regular lessons at 9:00 am Thursday. Wednesday afternoons will be our weekly pickup and drop off days for planning and resources. Please, don’t feel locked into these dates and times, it may take a while for you and your child/children to establish a routine that feels comfortable. The bus will not be running during this time so students attending school will need to be dropped off. If you require internet access please let me know as the school has extra modems available. Stay positive, we will get through this, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns. Ben Crum Principal

01.01.2022 Dear Nangiloc & Colignan Parents and Carers, I hope you and your families are all safe and well during these school holidays. Today the Department of Education and Training (DET) announced that Victorian schools should move to remote and flexible learning at the beginning of Term 2 (Wednesday 15th of April). The department has further clarified the situation with the following statement: ... 1. ALL STUDENTS WILL BE LEARNING FROM HOME, EXCEPT FOR STUDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES - Children on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. This will be available for children of parents who cannot work from home, and vulnerable children. What does this look like for our school? Our online curriculum and one-to-one devices makes us uniquely placed to deliver a programme that most closely reflects many of the key elements of learning; guided instruction, assessment, feedback, combined with hands-on practice with resources and materials. We will set up drop boxes at school to exchange student work (reading, writing and mathematics workbooks) and provide the necessary resources needed for your child's individualised learning programme. Tuesday the 14th of April is a Teacher only day, however if you would like some help accessing the curriculum or have any other concern please get in touch. I’m happy to sit down with parents or carers to show how our Nangiloc Google sites works. Individual devices (iPad’s) will be provided to all students and once connected to the internet they will have access to the schools online curriculum. They will be able to communicate face to face with their classroom teacher and classmates using ‘Zoom’. Students have access to a range of additional online resources. These can be found using the ‘Educational Alternatives’ link on the schools website. If you find others please share. We’re aiming to deliver a high quality online learning experience to the best of our ability, I’d really like to thank all the great work our amazing staff have done over the past few weeks. Our doors will remain open to support families who meet the above government criteria. It will be a challenging time over the next few weeks, but we will get through this! Stay safe and well. Ben Crum Principal Nangiloc Colignan & District Primary School
