Aside from putting huge pressure on Australia's native animals and fragile ecosystems, Australian farmers lose more than $100 million to feral pigs each year. But secretary of the Lower Blackwood Vertebrate Pest Management Group Barbara Dunnet says current efforts to reduce their numbers are inconsistent. She says without full time funding, populations are going to get out of control and action is needed urgently. "Most of the land in the Lower Blackwood is bush," she said. "You've got 87 per cent of the Nannup Shire is government land, 67 per cent of Margaret River and 87 per cent of Manjimup shire. "So the ability to control the pigs without consistent funding is becoming a problem and the problem is growing." What do you think is the best solution?

Especially for our festival Together with Dillon, Brendan, Nigel, Addison, Emma, Mark, Duncan, Phaedra and Rod... we spent a day at Cheeky Monkey Brewery & Cidery brewing beer! We had a massive lunch and delicious beers, shared some laughs- and together made some CHEEKY NANNUP- New World Pale Ale. 08.01.2022 A Total Fire Ban (TFB) is declared on days of extreme weather or when widespread fires are seriously stretching firefighting resources. This is separate to the ...prohibited burning period enforced by local governments during the bushfire season. The need for the ban is assessed throughout the day and the ban may be revoked if weather conditions ease. A Total Fire Ban is declared the evening before it is to take effect and runs from midnight to midnight. When a TFB is declared it prohibits the lighting of any fires in the open air and any other activities, such as use of an incinerators, welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting that may start a fire. Other activities that are banned can be found on the attached factsheet. The ban also includes all open air fires for the purpose of cooking or camping. Exemptions may be allowed for some industries and activities with conditions applied.
