24.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 15 - Early make. This photo is from my range/collection when I was studying at Box Hill Tafe. Such a flashback! This one was a real learning curve not only in techniques but also in my ability to finish no matter what. #flashbackfriday #diplomacollection #earlydays #studentlife #naomicheriestudio

21.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 13 - Game changer. This guy right here. Sorry for the slight gushy post but Kirk has changed everything for me. Friends for years, he helped support me through my final years of school. When my marriage broke down he gave me a place to stay while I sorted my life out. When we realised that we wanted more than friends, we worked as a team and got through it together. It’s been 2 years and 9 months of love, support, encouragement and life. There is so much more I could say but I’ll leave that for the wedding. #myrock #myeverything #love #whenyouknowyouknow

18.01.2022 Dear Jemala Fans, The longevity of wool. This is a 40 year old sweater, which has been regularly worn! I doubt that a sweater made from artificial fibres would last this long. Wool is how you reduce your carbon footprint and help save the environment!

18.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 20 - When I’m not sewing. Outside of sewing and my other part time job I enjoy a few things. Coffee is one thing that I really really enjoy. Some of the other things include Blues Brothers (Melbourne Crew), Gardening, fishing, watching Melbourne Storm @storm play, travelling, family and just relaxing with Kirk. #purplepride #reallywhenaminotsewing #lovelife #naomicheriestudio

17.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 9 - Work in Progress. This project has been in progress for a little while. When I first received my two new ladies, they were covered in white paint! I tried to use pins on them but the paint was just too thick. So Jan 2018 saw me start the process of redoing the cover on one of the ladies. They are still both unnamed (my other two ladies are Manni and Quinn) but I do hope to remedy this soon! #workinprogesspic #recoveringmannequin #purple #almosttwoyearsinthemaking #naomicheriestudio

14.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 11 - Inspiration. If I am creating a new collection, or just a new garment, I will usually look for a fabric first. I love creating one off pieces this way. But to get to my true inspiration I can go past getting into nature. Throughout my life I have visited a few places not only in Victoria but New South Wales and Tasmania. These places inspire me to be peaceful, kind, gentle and they teach me how to reconnect. I look forward to exploring and finding many more places to get inspiration from. #nature #redwoodforest #loveaplacewithnoreception #metime #naomicheriestudio

14.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 14 - Oh No! This one is a little bit of a throwback to when I was studying at Kangan Institute. It had been a long day already and so I didn't keep a close enough eye on the bobbin winder. From memory, I laughed because I would have otherwise cried. Lesson learned. #sewingmistake #IhavenoideahowImanagedthis #advdipcollection

12.01.2022 Working Wednesday! This is my first time trying a PDF pattern. I normally do all of my own patterns and drafting. This time I wanted to make a romper/play suit for myself. Not sure on this style for myself so I decided to trial this pattern. It’s a big game of Tetris getting all the pieces in the right spot. I will post more updates on this one soon! #romper #naomicheriestudio #workinghardwednesday #patternmakers #makingformyself

12.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 8 - Stash. Like any good Fabricologist I try to organise my stash. The downside to storing this way is accessing the fabrics towards the bottom! At a glance I can usually pick which box I need or get inspiration for a garment. #fabricologist #stashpic #ileftsomuchfabricattheshop #naomicheriestudio I know I missed a few days (thanks migraine!) and I hope to catch up with those missed days soon!

11.01.2022 Newest project here at the studio. Taking a white T shirt and giving it a pop of colour for Easter! #fabricpaint #lovecolour #lovepurple #colouringin #madeinmelbourne #naomicheriestudio

11.01.2022 #bpsewvember day 18 - Hem. One of my favourite hems to do. On all of my Adv Dip collection I did these lace hems. They were a little time consuming but worth it in the end. #laceedge #lacetrimhem #sopretty #naomicheriestudio

09.01.2022 Wildlife carers are calling out for pouches, wraps and blankets to help care for the injured and rescued wildlife. I am offering up my time, machines and thread to make these items but need help getting fabric. If you have any spare fabric to donate or would like to buy some please get in touch. I am looking for these fabrics: 100% natural fibres (hemp, bamboo, cotton, silk) in woven and knit fabrics. Flannelette, light cottons or jerseys. Breathability and softness are a mu...st. These are to be used for pouch linings. For the outer pouches anything from light cottons to fleeces and wools. Please nothing with metal/metallics or glitter. These need to be easily washable.

09.01.2022 Custom order! This lovely skirt was commissioned for a dress up Christmas party. A few meters of tulle, some elastic and lots of thread it had come up a treat! #christmasdressup #madeinmelbourne #tulledream #custommade #naomicheriestudio

07.01.2022 #bpsewvember Day 3, Technique. Two of my favourite ways of manipulating fabric are Origami and Draping. The dragon scale origami would have to be my favourite sample I created whilst doing my diploma. I am yet to use it in a garment but I look forward to when I do. I also love draping on the mannequin, particularly lace. You can take a nice garment and really make it pop. Drafting really gets my brain working but draping brings out the creative heart. #fabricmanipulation #draping #fabricorigami #naomicheriestudio

07.01.2022 #bpsewvember day 10 - Tools. These are just some of the tools I use regularly throughout my day. I always have these within easy reach, in particular the quick unpick. Those I have several of around. My favourite item would have to be my Juki sewing machine. #toolsofthetrade #needsofaseamstress #sewinglife #juki #naomicheriestudio

04.01.2022 I hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter! Lots of hot cross buns have been consumed here after finishing off the T shirt. A new alterations customer brought around these gorgeous biscuits when she picked up her daughters altered christening gown. The rest of the weekend has been spent with both sides of the family, relaxing with a few games of mahjong. Stay safe everyone and enjoy your holidays!

03.01.2022 A quick repair this morning for one of the South Croydon pups. His hoodie pocket came unstitched over the weekend. A quick clean up of stray threads and it’s on its way back home! #repaired #quickstitch #southcroydonbulldogs @southcroydonfc

02.01.2022 Day 2 of #bpsewvember. Three facts about me! 1. When doing my diploma I loved drafting and pattern making. 2. I used to race cars on dirt track speedway. 3. I love weimaraners The photo I’ve put up was my beautiful girl Lizzy. #threefactsaboutme #whatilove #naomicheriestudio #patternmakingdrafting #speedwayracing #weimaraner
