10.01.2022 DIETS SUCK AND THEY DONT WORK - Especially if you're over 35. Who the hell wants to be on a diet for their whole life..., not me! The fact is that everyone is o...n a diet. Whatever you put in your mouth is a diet. Dogs are on a diet and so are fleas. (Don't even ask me why I went there I was just proving a point) You see the term diet has been misconstrued. Now we just associate it with going without or starving, eating lettuce leaves and never indulging in that good old craving goodness. This is where the trouble begins and due to the fact that people often perceive weight loss and diets as a struggle, they never start or they just fail. In respect to that, it means we live our lives in fear of going without or failing. That makes sense considering most diets suck and don't even work. Especially if you're 35 and over. Who wants to fail again to have those around them roll their eyes at the mere mention of diet. I pretty much lived my entire life dieting, why?, I'm a Naturopath, I see myself as the human experiment. I would never give someone something I haven't tried myself, or wouldn't do. For much of my life eating healthy from the age of about 15, I always ate super clean. Priding myself on that as a lifetime achievement. I thought I knew it all. I was a master of nutrition. I got results with my patients like a crazy woman. It was magnificent. Then one day the diets just stopped working, I was stumped. What do u mean the diet isn't working? Its worked before? Why not now? I was 36 when this happened to me and the fight was on. All my patients were losing weight and I wasn't. What the hell is happening here? And then more and more people came out of the woodwork the more I paid attention to the diet failures. I had to come to the conclusion that what I was taught was incorrect. Calories in calories out- what a load of rubbish. What about hormones, cortisol, genetics, thyroid issues, beliefs around food, genotyping, the fat gene, neurobiology that creates cravings, nutrient deficiencies that do the same, what about that stuff that gets missed all the time. The reality of that was that what everyone gets taught was incorrect, why? Because basic doesn't fix the complex. When you're over 35, the forgotten age, we don't quite fit anywhere anymore. Were not past menopause but we know something isn't quite right because stuff isn't working the way it used to. We just done feel ourselves either. How the hell can we eat the same thing for a stretch of time and expect to keep losing weight if that is our goal. We don't keep training the same whether it is weights, martial arts, running or any other exercise if we're looking for results. So how the hell do we expect results from eating the same. We are adaptogenic beings. From our emotions to our environment to our reactions. So whos the dummy that says eat this and keep eating it - it will work. "Just follow the process, trust the process" - I swear to god if I hear that one more time someone is going to lose an eye. The process doesn't work, it never has. That's why the diet industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. Its made to not work. As soon as I realised this my mind was blown. I was part of that insidious industry that made women fail. Especially if you are over 35. The diet industry is not made for us. It's easy to cut down on food to lose weight if you're eating a tonne and maybe drinking all the wine. But what if you're not eating much? What if you're eating super healthy? Then what? Hell, I've had people eat one meal a day and not lose weight. I was sitting on the end of my bed crying one day, accepting the fact that no matter how healthy I got, no matter how much food I cut out. No matter that I trained lifting an hour plus a day and did a class. I was still fat. In fact, I was just getting fatter the less I ate and the more I exercised. That used to work but then it stopped. Soooo what do I do? Get surgery? Stay fat? Keep going? Give up? I thought....screw this life. I didn't want to diet as I had for the rest of my life. I didn't want to train for over an hour and a half every day and feel guilty when I didn't. It wasn't working anyway. Damned if u do, damned if u don't. So I decided to be a rebel. I decided enough is enough for myself and all my clients over 35. We deserve better, we deserve to not be a slave to this BS system. We want results. We want peace from the merry-go-round. So I hunted. I researched. I made sure I had the latest and the greatest. I collaborated my information as no one seems to do that in research. They do research and move to the next project. There's so much info I think my brain nearly caved in. I need my women to get results. I learnt many things. Weight loss is not about just your food and movement ( the world exercise also sux as diet does!) It's about you. How you feel about yourself, your relationships. Your place and purpose in this world. What you believe and what you love. Unless you get that stuff right. You will live in diet land, on the rollercoaster of guilt, shame and failure. That's the most important thing I have learned. You don't need some crazy 6 to 12-week exercise plan with the same freaking food the whole time. You need something that evokes excitement, change, adventure, calm and connection to yourself. So you can be a better you, partner, Mumma or businesswomen. You need to feel not alone and part of something. You see all that research - I came up with why you fail, how you succeed and how to do it forever. Within you and with your body as a whole. You need to truly understand why your body is rebelling on the biological level, why you're not getting results and learn how to fix it for good. Were not 20 and our bodies are different now. Lots of diets are done for you by men.....yep men. I'm sorry but how does that even work. Weight loss is not a bunch of exercise videos and a food plan to follow. It is a journey of the self...yourself. Hence Badass Beat The Bulge was born. Made for the invisible woman. I'm sure you know her. She goes through life feeling under-appreciated, not taken seriously, pushed to the side, saying yes to everyone for everything. Wondering what her true purpose is amongst all the activewear craziness, working and looking after everyone else. Were not the models in the ads. And thas ok. We don't need to be. What we need is results, calm, connection and confidence. Long term results, not ones that stop as soon as you stop your next diet challenge. Enough is enough - its time to be a rebel or it might just be time to be a BADASS. Time for you at last. To come first so you're the best for you and everyone you love. 07.01.2022 WHEN I SAY WAIT, THERES MORE -AND THIS HAPPENS. - BOOK 2 DONETIME TO GET DOWN AND DIRTY It looks like my year at cooking school and 27 years of looking after people may have just paid off. Not to mention my massive fight my whole life with weight, even though I ate like a freak and trained up to 2 hours per day, when I hit 36, it all changed. So i ate less and trained harder- wrong move it didnt work either. That made me sad and angry. ... So instead of just sitting there accepting my genetics, getting depressed and watching all these women, including myself, hate their bodies. Watch people buy crappy diet products and do crazy, unsustainable diets designed for them to fail. I did something - more research. Results-driven research has been a mission in my life. To make a change, to save people money, time and stress. In the long run, to save lives and protect against obesity, hormone imbalance, thyroid disease, depression and diabetes. If I see one more, raw food, vegan, calorie-restricted, rotational carb, high fat, shake, green goop, low fat, high protein, put a disease name on it diet, my head is going to cave in! I decided to make something, a system, that aligns with your age, not a diet made for or by 30-year-old genetically gifted humans or men. (did i say that out loud?) I decided to look after the women who work their asses off and lose a few kilos, then put them back on when they stop the crazy diet and exercise regime they are onthe women with crazy hormones who feel defeated. I decided not to do what everyone else is doing. Why? Because it does not work. If what people were doing worked then the weight loss industry would not be a multi-billion dollar industry right? We would not have an obesity epidemic. So I figure it is time to go against the grain and do something entirely out of the box. Something that no-one has done before. To win the war and create joy, confidence and results. To not only look as fab as we can but to prevent disease that shortens our lives. Can I get a hell, yes! So sexy Book Two is done - BURN IT UP. There is another book just about finished. Why so many? Thats what makes my system pure magic. The people that can not lose weight no matter what they do are my people. Its about understanding your biology, not just your hormones, not only your stress or even your food. Its about how you eat when you eat and what you eatgetting the metabolism to go crazy with the change, delicious food and not 50 tonnes of exercise. 03.01.2022 THIS ADVICE HIT ME LIKE A TONNE OF BRICKS I remember it so clearly, it was a Monday and I just got into work. I was freaking out because I was doing double training just to get some weight off. It didn't come off....I was getting so frustrated I just wanted to go on a food bender. ... I walk in and my sister who worked at my clinic simply said. "Do you think you just might be doing too much?" Then my brain went into overdrive. Of course, I was. I am such a dickhead. I was already a full time working mum...which in essence means I had two full-time jobs. I was running a super busy clinic and also training my butt off six days a week. So you know what I did. I had a break. I stopped for a few weeks for a reset. I focused on calm and going slow (because I live in hyperdrive) I really got my meal prep together and searched for all the things that were creating stress for me or that I was perceiving as stress and sorted them all out. Of course, my sister was right, it was cortisol. So what I did was make sure my day was calm. I started my day choosing calm and didn't over train. Well, what do you know.... I shredded by eating more, training less and choosing to be happier and calmer. It was life-changing. From learning this one simple thing I have been able to help so many women lose weight, be happier and less stressed. All because of this one little hormone. It's amazing how many women go for help and get told to eat less and train more. Only compounding a problem they already have. It's very confronting not getting results no matter what you do. It's to the point of feeling depressed about it. Stress in any form on or in your body will stop you dead in your tracks and leave you in exactly the same position you started in. You will feel defeated and frustrated. Not knowing what to do next. The best thing you can do is be observant and really truthful with what is creating stress for you, even if it's your exercise. Ask yourself how you are going to correct it and what action are you going to take. How are you going to find your calm to be happier and in the long run lighter. What do you need to address, confront or change your view on to make it a stress-free reality? Make it happen. x
