22.01.2022 If we do things with tension in our mind, whether it be exercise or practice, we just add to the tension. For it to be of any benefit we have to relax our mind. Abandon the commentary, embody the breath and give your full attention to whatever it is you’re doing. When we train in this way, not only are we bringing more joy into it, but we have more energy, more space and are less likely to injure ourself. Anything can be yoga if we do it with meditative awareness. Whether they be big or small, whether we are aware of them or not, they are there laying dormant waiting for the right trigger ~ someone to say the wrong thing or touch us the wrong way & before we know it, we are overcome with anger, sadness or self doubt. 12.01.2022 Everyone has their own path in life, and if we don’t travel in the direction that our heart leads us, we will lose our way. Sometimes when we are lost, out of fear we stay exactly where we are & this is how we become stuck. While it’s not about arriving in any particular destination or achieving some distant goal, it is important to live in alignment with our purpose if we want to enjoy the journey and make the most of this fleeting opportunity. So if you feel lost and uninsp...ired, let go of your fear and take the first step in a direction that stirs your soul - if you are a creative person, create; if you are an adventurous person, explore; write that book; enrol in that course; move; heal; teach; learn; give...whatever it is you love doing, do it. Sometimes the path may be unclear and you have no idea in which direction to travel ~ that’s when a practice like yoga and meditation can be helpful. By quietening the mind and creating more internal space, we get to know ourselves better and start to see more clearly where we need to go. Our path isn’t always easy, it’s not meant to be - if there were no challenges we wouldn’t grow along the way, but if we are grounded we can navigate the most difficult paths in peace. 10.01.2022 For many of us, our normal way of living is to be in a constant state of doing & thinking ~ always rushing from one thing to the next, never present, either projecting into the future or obsessing about the past. People talk about being busy like it’s a badge of honour, but when we live this way, we become sympathetic dominant (mostly in our fight or flight), which takes a toll on our nervous system and our spirit. The mind becomes dull, we are more prone to illnesses such as... autoimmune diseases, adrenal fatigue, anxiety and depression. But we can heal our living through yoga and meditation ~ by slowing down, learning to breathe properly, living from the heart and listening to our body so we know what it needs...we can become more parasympathetic dominant (in our rest and digest). When we live this way, we start to feel better, our immune system becomes stronger, we have more energy and our inner light which previously went out, now shines bright.
