24.01.2022 Face masks to be worn in indoor areas in Greater Melbourne Area Dear All Value Clients,... Starting from 6pm AEST tonight, there will be new restrictions in place in the Greater Melbourne area. For more information, click here. As part of these directions, 'face masks will need to be worn indoors, unless an exemption applies'. While massage therapy clinics are not specifically cited in the directions at this time, the Association recommends that both therapists and clients wear face masks. These restrictions will be in place until at least Friday 4 June. It is recommended but not required by the State Government for Victorian massage therapy clinics to implement the Victorian Government QR Code Service. Starting 28 May, the Victorian Government QR Code Service, which is free for all Victorian businesses, will be the only accepted QR code service in Victoria. Regardless if your clinic implements the Victorian Government QR Code Service or not, please ensure you are keeping proper client records. 23.01.2022 News update!!! To all value clients, The DHHS Have Not Yet Provided Clarity on Yesterday's Announcements... The announcements by the Premier yesterday were very confusing for our members in metropolitan Melbourne and as such, I contacted the Chief Allied Health Officer yesterday seeking clarification as to whether massage, remedial massage and myotherapy are included in the current easing of restrictions. Whilst we are not included under Allied Health officially, our industry is included in the Chief Allied Health Officer’s portfolio. The Chief Allied Health Officer indicated she was not able to confirm whether or not massage, remedial massage or myotherapy are able to return to routine services and that she is trying to clarify this. At this point in time she advised that our members are not to commence routine services until confirmation is received and it is important to note that the announcements have provided some easing of restrictions but it is not a formal move to the Third Step. Further correspondence has been forwarded to the Chief Allied Health Officer this morning requesting massage, remedial massage and myotherapy be included in the easing of restrictions. Please be assured we are doing everything we can to obtain clarity and to support our metropolitan Melbourne members. This is not what we wanted to hear nor what we expected. 21.01.2022 News update to all Value clients, Victoria Reopening Announcements In this afternoon's press conference, the Premier announced a wide reopening of many industries tomorrow at midnight. At this stage, massage, remedial massage and myotherapy have not been directly quoted but it is our understanding that metropolitan Melbourne members will be allowed to return to routine service from Tuesday 27 October at 11.59pm.... Massage & Myotherapy Australia will notify members as soon as we have received confirmation from the Department of Health and Human Services. Additionally, the premier announced that there is currently a 'dark opening', meaning that staff required to make the business COVID safe and ready for trading are allowed to attend the work place immediately to prepare for work to be able to begin midnight tomorrow night. The Association is extremely excited to announce that confirmation has been received from the Chief Allied Health Officer confirming massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists can return to routine practice as at 11.59pm this evening, Tuesday 27 October 2020. This long-awaited announcement for our members and the industry is something we have been fighting for, and we are delighted that our members can return to their work in providing care to our Melbourne community. However, members are reminded that you must have a COVIDSafe plan in place, this includes both the therapist and client wearing a mask at all times (more information about COVIDSafe Plans can be found below). On behalf of the staff and the Board of Directors I would like to thank you, our members, for your patience and support whilst we traversed our way through the myriad of confusing announcements to obtain clarity and facts to keep you informed. 12.01.2022 Victoria to enter seven-day circuit breaker lockdown Dear All Value Clients,... The Victorian Government has announced a seven-day circuit-breaker lockdown beginning Thursday tonight 27 May at 11.59pm and is currently set to end on Thursday 3 June at 11.59pm. More information can be found here. As part of this lockdown, there will only be five permitted reasons to leave the home: food and supplies; authorised work; care and caregiving; exercise for up to two hours and with one other person; and getting vaccinated. During this circuit breaker lockdown, only authorised health services will be permitted to continue treating. At this stage massage therapy, remedial massage therapy and myotherapy are not listed as authorsied health services that are permitted to treat during the lockdown. It is very unfortunate that we find ourselves in this position once again and we understand how difficult this will be for our members as well as all Victorians. We have provided a list of support services that can be found below. If you ever find yourself struggling, please reach out. Victoria, we will get through this! To all value clients, On Saturday 12 September, the State Government announced personal services that can be performed while wearing a mask will be allowed to resume when metropolitan Melbourne enters the Third Step of its Roadmap to Recovery (which will trigger on 26 October 2020 with the stipulation that Victoria reaches a <5 new cases state-wide average over 14 days). Our understanding is that massage and myotherapy will be included no later than this Thi...rd Step to re-open, however, we continue to seek clarity. More information about the Roadmap to Recovery can be found here. Third Round of Business Support Grants Announced On Sunday 13 September, the Government announced a new round of Business Support Fund Grants to assist businesses that are struggling or have been forced to close due to COVID-19 restrictions. Applications will be open soon. Support has also been announced for sole traders, with more details coming at later date.

To all value Clients, Metropolitan Melbourne Update on Working Restrictions Under the Second Step As anticipated in our last update, the State Government have not outlined any changes to the working status of remedial massage therapists and myotherapists under the Second Step of their Roadmap to Recovery. According to the Department of Health and Human Services Victoria website, permitted industries under the Second Step include:... 'Any other health worker providing services required under a Chronic Disease Management Plan, a care plan endorsed by NDIS (including self-managed plans), TAC, Workcover or DVA - if care is required to prevent a significant change/deterioration in functional independence necessitating escalation of care (e.g. a requirement for specialist input/review, an increase in care needs and/or alternate accommodation, avoiding a hospital admission or emergency department presentation).' This means the current directives, that have been active since the beginning of the Stage 4 lockdown, remain in place. Routine services are still not permitted and you can only treat a client if: They are on a care plan endorsed by NDIS (including self-managed plans), TAC, Workcover or DVA; and Their condition will deteriorate rapidly if you wait until after the end date of Stage 4 restrictions to treat them It is our understanding that a letter from a GP on its own is not sufficient. You may only treat if the above criteria are met. As part of the announcements yesterday, it was revealed that the Third Step will no longer trigger on 26 October 2020 but as soon as Victoria manages to reach an average of five or fewer new cases per day and fewer than five cases with an unknown source over a span of 14 days. At this stage, the Government is estimating that will occur closer to 19 October 2020. These are difficult times for everyone and the Association will continue to advocate on behalf of members and keep you informed of any updated facts as they are provided to us. Update on Mask Wearing in Victoria The Association has confirmed with the Department of Health and Human Services that under the current directives, it is still a requirement for massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists to wear a mask while treating in Victoria. It is also a requirement that any clinic staff who interact with clients must also wear a mask. Additionally, it is strongly recommended that clients wear masks while being treated and at minimum they must have a mask on them at all times. Massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists are within their rights to request that their clients continue to wear a mask. Metropolitan Melbourne Update on Health Services During the Second Step A letter delivered to the Association by Victorian Chief Allied Officer Donna Markham has indicated that remedial massage and myotherapy will not be opening more widely when metropolitan Melbourne enters the Second Step of its Roadmap to Recovery, which is due to occur on 28 September 2020. Full details will be released by the Department of Health, hopefully i...n the coming days, and the Association is currently advocating on behalf of members to be able to treat clients. In a briefing the Association attended yesterday, Victorian Chief Allied Officer Donna Markham stated that while the Second Step of their Roadmap to Recovery was a gradual easing of restrictions, it is still very focused on restricting movement. The Department of Health have reiterated that health care providers, with the exception of indoor group classes, will be allowed to open more widely in the Third Step, which is due to occur on 26 October 2020. We will notify members when official notification is received. These are difficult times for everyone and the Association will continue to advocate on behalf of members and keep you informed of any updated facts as they are provided to us.

08.01.2022 News latest update!!! To all value clients, Update Regarding Restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne... Further to our email this morning, we have now received confirmation from the Chief Allied Officer that massage therapy, remedial massage therapy and myotherapy are not included in the easing of restrictions this means that you are unable to return to routine services at this time. This is not the news any of us wanted to hear today and we are fully aware how devastating these restrictions have been for our metropolitan Melbourne members. At the end of this email is a table of support services that can be accessed by anyone who is experiencing financial issues, anxiety, stress or depression. The Chief Allied Health Officer also recognises and acknowledges how difficult this has been for you, our members, since the commencement of the Stage 4 restrictions for metro Melbourne, and the impacts of the restrictions on the provision of care and services and she personally appreciates the valued services to many in the community. The focus of staged restrictions has been on ensuring public safety and controlling the gradual increase in the movement of individuals within their community, including limiting the number of health practitioners who may be providing prolonged interpersonal care and services. The Chief Allied Health Officer has committed to keeping us updated and has also advised that at this point, it is likely further restrictions will be eased prior to a move to Third Step restrictions, which are stated to happen on or before 11.59pm 1 November, 2020. As your professional association we will continue to advocate on your behalf to have you returning to work earlier than the next goal post that is set for no longer than 12 days’ time, and will communicate any updates to you as they arise. 08.01.2022 News Update, New Restrictions Announced for Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria ... Dear Prawphayom Napan(Gina ) Yesterday, the Premier of Victoria announced changes to the current restrictions in Victoria. Metropolitan Melbourne is now in Stage 4 lockdown and regional Victoria will be moving to Stage 3 lockdown at 11.59pm on Wednesday 5 August. More details about these updated restrictions can be found here. See below for what these new restrictions mean for massage therapists: Metropolitan Melbourne Currently in Stage 4 lockdown. It is not known at this time how Stage 4 will affect the working status of massage therapists. Our understanding is the Premier will be making an address later today on how Stage 4 will affect all workplaces. We will let our Victorian members know about the working status of massage therapists under Stage 4 as soon as we have clarity from the appropriate Government bodies. Regional Victoria Regional Victoria will be moving to Stage 3 restrictions at 11.59pm on Wednesday 5 August. Under Stage 3 restrictions therapeutic and remedial massage can continue. Mitchell Shire Mitchell Shire is currently in Stage 3 restrictions and will not be moving to Stage 4 at this time. Under Stage 3 restrictions therapeutic and remedial massage can continue.
