21.01.2022 Summer time is just around the corner which means the need to give your pooch a wash is more frequent. Don’t forget to ensure you rinse all the shampoo out of their coat with clean water, to avoid residue build up on the skin. Happy Bathing!

17.01.2022 Toxoplasmosis and Pregnancy Toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by a parasite that your cat can be host too. A cat can contract this parasite by eating raw meat that may be infected such as rodents, birds etc. Human contagion only occurs when you are in contact with the faeces of an infected cat (if you touch the faeces and not having washed your hands well, ingesting the parasite through the mouth). If you are a mum to be, don’t panic and think of rehoming your kitty, however hygiene precautions should be set in place. The problem is limited to the faeces and litter boxes, so extra precaution is advisable to have other family members clean it, or wear gloves and wash you hands after cleaning.

17.01.2022 Most male pets that are kept for companionship, work or food production are typically castrated unless intended for breeding. Castration, the surgical removal of the testicles, is a common practice to prevent undesirable sexual behaviour, reduce aggressiveness and urine marking, and for population control. Castration eliminates the possibility of testicular cancer and greatly reduces the chance of prostate disease. Castrations can also reduce the risk of perianal tumours and perineal hernias.

11.01.2022 As some of you may already be aware, our beloved Dr. Debbie Brymner is hanging up the stethoscope, closing her notebook and bidding us all farewell as of today. We can only hope that life in retirement is fulfilling, relaxing, and full of new experiences for her. Deb’s contribution to our Morayfield & Narangba Vet Clinics, and the Veterinary industry as a whole, will surely be treasured. It’s difficult to say goodbye, but her legacy lives on through our clients and their pets. We wish you all the best Debbie, and look forward to when you’ll surely pop in to the clinic for a puppy-fix!

10.01.2022 Let’s talk ear cleaners.... Doggy ear infections become more common in summer as you probably find yourself spending more time at the beach or other areas to swim. Water and sweat like to gather in the nooks and crannies of our dogs ears, which is a great spot for bacteria to set up camp. ... Ear infections can be easily treated with vet prescriptions, however the preventative option is a the cheaper, less painful approach. We have a large range of ear cleaners for your specific situation. Come and chat to our great nurse team to have one on hand after a day in the sun

06.01.2022 It’s that time of year again where the sun is hot and the beach days a more frequent. Just a friendly reminder that dogs and cats with pink skin around the nose, eyes or generally everywhere are highly susceptible to sun burn and skin cancers. We sell Filta-Bac the antibacterial and sun filter cream which can be applied before walks or beach trips, or everyday if your pet likes to sun bake. Apply a thin layer around the pink areas of the skin.

01.01.2022 The cooling pads are back!! Last season we heard a lot of great feedback on these. Fantastic through the warmer months. They work to absorb the heat and expel it through the areas of the cool pad not being used, therefore it always staying cool. If your dog or cat loves the cool tiles, replicate that with this mat for outside too!
