Dr Oliver Lau is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who treats general eye conditions including cataract, pterygia, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, eyelid malpositions and uveitis. He strives to provide holistic, patient-centred care and to empower his patients by explaining diagnoses and treatment options in plain language. He collaborates closely with other healthcare provider...s as he believes this is essential to achieve best patient outcomes. Oliver is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He has published extensively in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. He has been a reviewer for an Agency for Clinical Innovation/NSW Health Eye Emergency App for smartphones. After graduating from medicine at the University of Sydney, he completed internship and residency at Westmead Hospital. This was followed by a senior resident year at Sydney Eye Hospital, where he was awarded Junior Medical Officer of the Year. He subsequently undertook training in ophthalmology in the Sydney Eye Hospital training network. Following this he was selected as the senior ophthalmology registrar at Concord Hospital, where he was responsible for teaching ophthalmology registrars, as well as medical students from the University of Sydney, junior medical officers, and emergency department staff. 23.01.2022 We are excited to welcome Dr Ramakrishnan to the Narellan Eye Specialists team. Dr Ramakrishnan is a medical retina specialist and cataract surgeon. She completed her medical training and graduated with honours from Monash University in Melbourne. After completing a Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmic Sciences, she undertook her specialist Ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital. On completing her specialist training, Dr Ramakrishnan pursued her interest in remote and th...ird world Ophthalmology through the Fred Hollows Fellowship. She worked in remote indigenous communities in central Australia as well as in rural communities in Nepal and gained experience in managing complex cataracts and advanced diabetic eye disease. Following this she undertook a Medical Retina Fellowship at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where she specialised in diseases of the retina including age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, anterior and posterior uveitis as well as genetic disorders of the eye. During her time at Moorfields Eye Hospital she was also involved in research focusing on the management of macular disorders. Dr Ramakrishnan is committed to providing the highest quality of care through integrating a patient centred approach with evidence based practices. Dr Rossiter-Thornton is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with expertise in the treatment of cataract, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and eyelid conditions. He is proficient in simple and complicated cataract surgery, and iStent insertion. He studied medicine at Sydney University, graduating with Honours, and subsequently attained two Masters degrees while acq...uiring extensive surgical and ophthalmic training. He completed his ophthalmology training under the auspices of Sydney Eye Hospital, and has worked in many of the hospitals in Sydney, in addition to rural and remote locations in Australia such as the Northern Territory.
