25.01.2022 Breastmilk, a living fluid, perfectly designed to protect, nourish and nurture your baby - all at the same time! How amazing is that?

24.01.2022 Night breastfeeds are so important for you and your little baby. It is also important for you to catch up with rest during the day so you don't become over tired.

24.01.2022 Please watch this little video. just a little tear to your eye!

23.01.2022 It's a no brainer! Breastfeeding makes a difference!

23.01.2022 A baby who is breastfeeding well is facing its mother, tummy to mummy, head is in alignment with the body and slightly tilted back. Lips may be curled out but you shouldn't be able to see them as the cheeks should be touching the breast. The cheeks are rounded and not being sucked in during the feed. The chin is tucked into and nose close to the breast. Look for the deep suck/swallow rhythm as this tells you baby is draining milk from the breast. You will feel tugging and pul...ling but no pinching or sharp pain. If there is pain detach baby and try again. Feed your baby as soon as you see the early feeding cues. Be patient, take your time.

23.01.2022 If breastfeeding did not already exist someone who invented it today would deserve a dual Nobel prize in medicine and economics. Breastfeeding is a child's first inoculation against death, disease and poverty, but also their most enduring investment in physical, cognitive and social capacity. (Hansen 2016)

23.01.2022 So important good for sharing

22.01.2022 Take the time to read the intro in this link and share ... breastfeeding saves lives With the rise of ultra processed food marketing and the use of pressure wo...rds to attract attention and make false claims, breastfeeding #immune function has been overlooked, neglected to the point where respect and value has been lost in the community. That needs to change, speak up share a fact with health professionals or others when you have a chance. Nothing will change unless we make it happen. https://scholar.google.com/scholar See more

14.01.2022 Today is the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week - 1st-7th August. A time to celebrate the art of breastfeeding, a beautiful way to nurture, nourish and protect a child from birth. Providing the ultimate foundation of nutrition from colostrum in the early days for as long as a child breastfeeds and beyond. But it is not just food. The incredible bond created between mother and child - the human dyad - is precious. The love, security and safety of being held closely with t...enderness and warmth can lead to emotional and physical strength and independence. On another note, the environmental impact of not breastfeeding is devastating. For example: The effect of destruction of world forests to graze cows and the damage by cows to the environment is immense and one that governments around the world should be addressing - now! Please join the LCANZ webinar this Monday night, 3.08.2020, to listen to the incredible Julie Smith discuss this subject. https://www.lcanz.org//lcanz-event-is-the-global-formula/

12.01.2022 "I went to school a little when I was a young girl so I can do some maths. But I stopped going to school when I was about eight years old. Some women are too as...hamed to go back to school. They say they are too old. I think they are wrong. You are never too old to learn. It is the future of our children." - Peka, 25, Côte d'Ivoire. 10.01.2022 Kangaroo Care in the NICU empowering parents..... Having a baby in the NICU can be isolating. And partners often feel like just a visitor as the birthing pare...nt may have a larger role like providing milk and having more frequent visits with the baby. Partners can be more involved by providing baby with much needed skin-to-skin contact in the NICU. This can help your partner have a more empowered experience, and bond with baby while playing a significant role for baby. Skin-to-skin contact has been proven to have remarkable benefits, especially for NICU babies. Skin-to-skin contact: increased quiet sleep state more stable thermoregulation more stable heart rate more stable respiratory rate oxygen saturation promotes longer nursing duration and exclusivity AND MORE! 04.01.2022 Breastfeeding anywhere, any time!!

03.01.2022 After being born a baby, when allowed the opportunity, will crawl up the mother's abdomen and find their way to the breast. Assisted by their incredible sense of smell, touch and taste. Like all mammals the human baby can find its way to the breast, attach and suckle. Supported by mother's instinctive nurturing and guidance. This can be interrupted with medical treatment but re-established with lots of skin-to-skin contact.

03.01.2022 So many reasons to give breastfeeding your best shot!!

01.01.2022 A great resource..

01.01.2022 'Judging from the infant's biology and evolutionary history, proximity to parental sounds, smells, gases, heat, and movement during the night is precisely what the human infant's developing system "expects," since these stimuli were reliably present throughout the evolution of the infant's sleep physiology. The human infant is born with only 25 percent of its adult brain volume, is the least neurologically mature primate at birth, develops the most slowly, and while at birth is prepared to adapt, is not yet adapted. In our enthusiasm to push for infant independence (a recent cultural value), I sometimes think we forget that the infant's biology cannot change quite so quickly as can cultural child care patterns.'Dr James McKenna, Ph.
