24.01.2022 The countdown begins to the Easter Long Weekend! Our Gumnuts have been busy decorating our room with bright and bold bunnies and speckled eggs to get into the spirit this week! Today we made an egg banner for our room and hung some marbled, spotty, stripy and swirly eggs up high. Using bubble wrap, coloured paints and colourful paper cutouts, the children had a ball decorating their eggs and enjoyed getting messy with their educators!

24.01.2022 A few weekends ago our amazing team had a beautiful day by the water to say goodbye to 2020. It's been an interersting year, and it was lovely to look back and celebrate the good times while listening to laughter and stories interspersed with the laughs (and swoops!) of Kookaburras. Thank you all to our NELC family. You're a one of a kind team, and we can't wait to see what 2021 brings!

24.01.2022 We hope you all had a very happy time over the last couple of days! Just a reminder we're closed again on Friday, ready to start the new year on the 4th :)

23.01.2022 The Willows have been showing a massive interest in letter recognition recently, and have become super keen to practice writing their names and other letters they see in their environment. We combined this with their love of messy sensory play, and practiced writing in foam! Not only did we get to work on our letters, but also had some amazing language being used as we described how the foam felt as we covered ourselves in it too!

23.01.2022 Everyone loves a good marble run, especially that it was made with love by our director, Jake!

23.01.2022 A matching game was created when the preschoolers started finding leaves of various colours in the yard.

23.01.2022 This week our nursery children are looking into fun ways of practicing sustainability throughout our daily routine! Today we had a ball with a fantastic cooking activity, using fresh herbs from our very own kitchen garden! We love finding any excuse to play outdoors and today we had a lot of fun using our natural resources and discovering more about the interesting world of cooking!! We made some delicious coconut and mint muffins and cant wait to add them to our afternoon tea with some fresh fruit salad!! YUM!

22.01.2022 Today the Willows enjoyed sharing books together in rest time. Sharing books is a great way for the children to relax their bodies, and build relationships. The Willows had a great time using their imaginations to create their own stories using the pictures to help them. They know some of the stories so well that they were pretty accurate in their retelling!

21.01.2022 We had such a fun pyjama week! All week our educators and children we're so comfy all week, maybe we'll have a pyjama month next year?!

21.01.2022 It has been so lovely spending some quality indoor time with our littlest bubs this week. As the wind and rain blows outside we get to snuggle in the warm and focus on some quality bonding time with our friends and educators! Books, blankets, music time and cuddles on the mat make for a perfect day!

21.01.2022 This morning the Gumnut nursery children played a wonderful game of Hide and Seek with our educator Miss Viviane. The children are developing such beautiful relationships with their educators and peers, and it is lovely to see them all participating in group activities and bonding so well! Our nursery is growing each and every week and we love watching them develop these relationships through social interactions and stimulating play!

20.01.2022 The Willows have been working on our fine motor skills recently. Fine motor skills are essential pre-writing skills, as children build up the muscle skills needed to form letters. We've also become very interested in what letters are in our names. Today, we decided to use some 'magic' paint. Paint in zipped bags gave the children the opportunity to practice these skills in a different way. We used cotton wool tips to create different shapes, patterns, numbers and letters! W...e were all extremely excited to see what we could make, and there was amazing language being used as we named the letters, shapes, and numbers we made. We also watched our friends and got inspired by what they made! Lots of the children have asked if they can do this every day, and we've even had some requests to teach our mummies and daddies how to do this at home! We love following our children's interests when providing our learning experiences! See more

20.01.2022 Our Gumnuts love rabbits or as they like to call them bunnies! We even have a pet rabbit named Snowflake that the children love to look after. One of our educators Miss Marian wanted to share a story with our Gumnuts about rabbits called Funny Bunnies - Up and Down. We hope you enjoy

20.01.2022 Our littlest ones celebrated NAIDOC week today through an exciting hand painting experience! Using the colours of The Aboriginal flag, we made our very own wall mural and had a ball getting messy with paint! Happy NAIDOC week everyone!

20.01.2022 The Willows have been showing an interest in letters recently, and finding out what letters are in their names! This morning we decided to put letters on our toast using honey. We had so much fun trying to work out which toast was our piece by recognising our letters!

18.01.2022 This is the first week that some of our Nursery 1 class have fully transitioned into the Nursery 2 Room. The children are having so much fun exploring their new learning environment. Please take a look

18.01.2022 We hope all our fathers and special people had a great time over the weekend! We love you and all the special things you do for us <3.

18.01.2022 You're never too young to be learning about science! Today our littlest scientists were experimenting with the cup phones they made. They discovered holding the cup to your ear made it even easier to hear our friends. It was also great to practice taking it in turns to talk and listen. We love it when STEM learning and social learning come together!

18.01.2022 The Willows have been busy building relationships in our favourite way - getting messy! From working together to create marble paintings, to giving each other high fives to practice colour mixing, were learning that its so much fun when we help our friends!

17.01.2022 Today a beautiful butterfly hatched out of a cocoon we've been caring for for the last week. Such a magical experience to be a part of.

16.01.2022 As a community COVID-19 has affected us all to some degree. Here at NELC we want to make sure all our families - especially the ones at home - feel they are still apart of our community. To help achieve this each room will be uploading a video on Story Park each week - our documenting platform - that will include our educators reading stories, singing songs and much more. The videos will also include each rooms current interests. Please enjoy and share so we can spread love and positivity through out all communities that include young children

15.01.2022 Continuing on from last weeks sensory fun, we decided to explore the wonders of rice and paint this week! The children in Nursery 1 loved exploring the soft, squishy bubbles of paint beneath the glad wrap and had an absolute ball crawling through the multi coloured rice on our mat! As our youngest bubs start to develop their walking and crawling skills, we love to see them exploring sensory play and learning how to move their bodies in such a fun and creative environment.

15.01.2022 In the Nursery Room the children have been practicing their fine motor skills, picking up cotton balls with a pair of tongs. This experience is also a great way for the children to further develop their hand and eye co-ordination as well as self help skills

15.01.2022 Merry Christmas! We hope you and your family have a wonderful, loving, safe and relaxing time this holiday season. Just a reminder we're open every day apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day .

14.01.2022 Who else is excited for Book Week?

14.01.2022 In our centre, we value inclusion, and recently the Willows have added an Acknowledgement of Country to our morning routine. Here are some of the Willows thanking the Traditional Custodians of the Land.

13.01.2022 Today our very own Cameron did something very brave and shaved his head in support of the Leukaemia Foundation and raised over $1000! There's still time to donate too! The link is in the comments.

12.01.2022 Did you know that Durrah (our very own preschool teacher) is a published artist?! You can catch her beautiful work in the latest issue of Womankind magazine . Bring a copy in and Durrah will sign it for you!!!

11.01.2022 Recieving feedback like this makes our heart sing. Our educators love being recognised for the special effort they put in <3

11.01.2022 How wonderful would it be if all schools are solar powered?

11.01.2022 The children noticed that some of our Chinese New Year decorations had Chinese characters on it. This afternoon we offered them a chance to try out Chinese calligraphy! These characters look like pictures and There are many lines were some observations from the Maples!

10.01.2022 In the Nursery 2 Room this week our group goal is Exploring Cultural Identities. It states in the EYLF - Early Years Learning Framework - Educators recognise that diversity contributes to the richness of our society and provides a valid evidence base about ways of knowing. For Australia it also includes promoting greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being." To help facilitate this learning the educators set up an aboriginal in...spired painting activity outside that consisted of traditional aboriginal dot painting pictures, a image of the aboriginal flag, 3 tubs of paint and sticks that were collected from the garden that were used as a painting tool to apply the paint onto the branches. This is a fantastic way for the nursery children to be introduced to aboriginal culture.

08.01.2022 Sad post alert today we said a fond farewell to our long-time educator Cameron, as he starts his big adventure moving to Young next week. Cameron has been an educator with us almost since we opened our doors. Helping our centre grow from 1, to 2 and all the way to 6 classrooms, he's been such a great influence on the way NELC looks today and we're going to miss him very much. We're so greatful for the many years he's given us, and he can go forward in his early childhood... journey knowing we'll never forget the energetic, passionate, caring and loyal culture he helped create. Good luck Cam! Young are so lucky to have you. We love you and we can't wait to come visit you and your country centre

08.01.2022 Have a look out for the new traffic patrol around Naremburn The Gumnuts have been loving dress ups. Dress ups is a fantastic way for children to further develop their vocabulary and build confidence. Dress up play also allows children the opportunity to role play and story tell, providing them opportunities to understand how the world works !

07.01.2022 On Saturday our amazing team celebrated in true Naremburn style we had the best time at the greens in north Sydney! We have the best team and just want to say thank you to each and everyone of them for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year!

07.01.2022 Talking about doggie Due to childrens recent interest in animals, some of our families and educators brought their doggie friends to the centre. We were just so excited to see the real doggies playing with us. Normally children just talked about their own pets at home, but now we had the visual support to concrete childrens learning about animals. We learnt colours, names, feeling, literacy from playing with doggies, because Naremburn Early Learning centre always believes the best learning experience of children is from play.

06.01.2022 The Willows have been very busy exploring their new room over the last two weeks and have shown a HUGE interest in the insect area. We created a learning environment using both processed and natural materials for the willows to explore both with their hands and with their magnifying glasses.

06.01.2022 Last year we planted some tomatoes in the garden and the children kept a close eye on the plants, watching and noticing the changes! When the tomatoes ripen, the children made delicious tomato toastie! Yum! What veggies do you think we should plant next?

06.01.2022 NELC are now a registered COVID safe business. We've been working hard to ensure our children, families and staff are as safe as possible while we continue to provide the highest quality of care and education. We're so grateful to our families for their unserstanding and support, and we're glad to be making it through this together with a smile on our faces :).

06.01.2022 Today our Nursery Room helped celebrate Mardi Gras by creating a beautiful rainbow flag made out of different coloured tissue paper. The Gumnuts applied glue to a large piece of white paper, then chose an array of different colours to stick onto the page, further developing their fine motor and creative skills. Families come in many forms and we value and recognise all families in our community. NELC wish everyone a happy and safe Mardi Gras weekend

06.01.2022 Due to the recent bushfires and drought Australia is going through, the children of the Gumnut Room have been learning about sustainability and being socially responsible (especially when using water). The children have been using recycled water taken from the centres collection points, to water our hedges and vegetable garden.

05.01.2022 During the last several weeks, we have been exploring sensory play in our nursery room 1. Whilst developing our fine motor skills, the children have been experimenting with ice painting and creating some gorgeous art works to display in our room. What better an activity to do in the summer heat !! The children love to play with the melting ice, and its wonderful to see their artistic juices flowing as they explore texture, temperature and colour!!

04.01.2022 Of Adventures During Christmastime: Lots of families have been having fun adventures during Christmastime and there has been many interesting conversations amongst the children about where theyve been, including the zoo, chocolate shop, camping, beaches, on holidays overseas and to the farm. We read the book, Places to Go as an extension to their conversation. Malcolm brought in a tent and the Willows got busy helping to set it up! Fantastic helping! The children loved b...eing in the tent just chatting away and enjoyed reading! Have you had a recent adventure? Tell us about it in the comments below!
