24.01.2022 Dear members and friends of Native Animal Rescue Group, we need some volunteer help out at Tomboye. This is to assist the Vet nurses, the vets and the helpers to build holding enclosures for the influx of animals we are getting. The first of the koalas has just arrived and there could be about a dozen more yet so we urgently need these things assembled. We are also getting other animals as well. You just have to be healthy and maintain social distance. Wash your hands at the ...gate when you arrive and leave. Wear your mask too if you want.. If you are well and available, we could really use your help. Please call me right now on 0411 375 275 if you can give a few hours today or tomorrow. Thanks, Bill Waterhouse

24.01.2022 Here they come!!! Many thanks to the teams who have come to help us.

24.01.2022 This is the area currently being searched, in a modest way, by the NARG search and rescue team. We are using drones, walkers, Bear the koala dog, tree climbers and vets all stationed near Tomboye. And yes, we are finding animals! Thank you for the interesting photos Jervis Bay Through My Eyes- Maree Clout. Please acknowledge the photographer if sharing! .

24.01.2022 15 koalas identified now. One en route to our triage clinic

23.01.2022 Please share to your art loving friends.

22.01.2022 Welcome to the 2020-2021 Wildlife year with NARG. Dear Friends of NARG Our system was "hacked" last year and we lost all electronic records and, between the drought, fires, floods and viruses, we have only really now got back on deck. We have managed to rebuild our temporary website and have just completed rebuilding our email lists (though we have lost a fair bit of data- addresses, phone numbers etc). We are inviting you all to renew your memberships as soon as you can. ... NEW MEMBERS ARE VERY WELCOME TO JOIN. All memberships are officially due on the 30th of June but because of our technical problems we ask that you complete your applications by the 31st July. As well as popping the modest fee ($30) into the bank we also request that you fill out a membership form so we can confirm all your details. We also need all this info to meet National Parks And Wildlife requirements. It will also allow us to see your interests and abilities so we can plan training events to suit your needs once we get through the current crisis. There are two versions of the membership forms- The first one is a Word Document with fillable sections. All you need do is open it, fill it out, SAVE it to your computer then attach it to an email to [email protected] The second version is a printable PDF which you can fill out with a pen and scan and send attached to an email or mail it by snail mail to the places listed on the form. All payment details are on the forms themselves or you can call the Hotline 48461900 for the account details. Please dont just send your $30 without sending in your form so we can connect the fee to you!! Other donations are always welcome of course but look on the website to do that as it is a special account! If you want me to send you a membership form just put your name and email address into a private message and I will send one out. Best if you send it to me personally at the email address below. If you have any enquiries about memberships, authority to care, licencing issues, operational areas please dont hesitate to ask. Call me on the NARG hotline 48461900 Hope you are well and staying safe and healthy Bill Waterhouse President NARG [email protected]

21.01.2022 Wildlife Rescue work and the Coronavirus. The Australian government has produced a number of COVID-19 public health orders to responsibly limit virus spread an...d mitigate potential public health consequences. In particular, current public health orders directing members of the public not to leave their private residence, without reasonable excuse. So what is a reasonable excuse? The government has provided examples of reasonable excuse to assist in the application of said health orders. Wildlife rescue work following the 2019/20 bushfire crisis is currently considered an essential service despite being undertaken predominantly by a very limited volunteer workforce. To assist in this work a limited team of volunteer professionals: vets, veterinary nurses, native species specialists have been formulated and have worked together for the past few months. Nevertheless, we have implemented sound COVID-19 protocols to limit virus spread as we move this work forward. We have established sanitisation protocols that must be used prior to entering and before exiting the wildlife veterinary clinic site. We require participants to observe the governments personal hygiene requirements re: hand washing, maintaining appropriate social-distancing, and of course behaviour modification (mouth-covering, regularly disinfecting high-traffic surfaces, self-isolation re: relevant symptoms identified). We manage public involvement in wildlife recovery work through the use of remote technologies. Wildlife affected by bushfire requiring urgent veterinary assessment and treatment are currently identified via use of thermal drone technology, reported public sightings and a small volunteer search and rescue team on the ground. The window for rescuing wildlife affected by the 2019/20 bushfires is closing. The majority of animals taken into veterinary care have been identified with poor to critical body condition, the majority suffering dehydration and starvation. This is due to long periods of drought followed by significant habitat destruction. There are many native species struggling to recover naturally from the onset of the fires, which is why this WORK is required. And make no mistake, this is an essential work, that is targeted and being driven responsibly on compassionate grounds - and with an acknowledgement of individual animal survivability and species vulnerability. How can you help? If you see injured wildlife, please call the Native Animal Rescue Group (NARG) hotline on: 0411 375 275 or 4846 1900.

16.01.2022 Hi all . Just wanted to share this as it is a positive story ,and we all need those! This little guy came into care on sunday after being found on the side of the hwy towards Batemans bay . I needed to flush his eye, and had him on 2 medications to get him through. Yesterday I took him back to his rescue site after flight tests proved he was fine to go. I released in a safe area away from the hwy, and he flew straight back across the hwy obviously knowing exactly where to go! This was such a happy release, very rewarding. Keep smiling Pixie

16.01.2022 Hi all, NARG has had three joey kangas come in this morning. These fine cool nights and warm days seem to be getting our local critters on the move so please take extra care driving from dusk to dawn. If you find any injured or recently killed wildlife please move it off the road and check for pouch babies. Ring us for advice or assistance and to report wildlife incidents. 48461900 Thanks

15.01.2022 NARGs landline is dead. There is a system outage somewhere and it might take until the 22nd to fix. Telstra has put a diversion in place. Hopefully it will work. If the diversion doesnt work, For any wildlife emergency try 0411 375 275. Thanks

15.01.2022 NARG cant thank you enough- our two lovely carers Anne and Shannon- well supported by ARC and Select Electrical- Thank you one and all xxx.

13.01.2022 So this little guy came into care yesterday, rescued by a local gal from Nerriga. Weighing in at a grand total of 5 grams, this little critter is a Feathertail Glider. Today was spent building him an escape proof terrarium. Here's a short video of him playing in his new jungle gym. Enjoy!

09.01.2022 The units have gone in, they containers are in and now we are now in the Koala Enclosure build. The work of Alli and the team on the ground has been dedicated, ...engaging and humble. Alli and the team are focused on James and his family to get this done. The prototypes for the Koala enclosures are ideal, the build plans are ready and thanks to your support we can keep working hard with the teams. Thank you everyone for supporting this project.

08.01.2022 Hi all, on behalf of NARG I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Alli and all the amazing people at ARC for helping NARG members with water. My family was impacted by the fires but grateful to not have lost our property, although we did evacuate as it surrounded us. As a result, our water was affected by ash and fire retardant and not drinkable. Many thanks to Alli for providing us (and other NARG members) with water for our macropods and for the wonderful people who delivered it. I have been making bottles and providing bowls of water for all the local animals for months now and it had been so expensive for us to do this. NARG is very grateful!! So am I!! Keep smiling, Pixie #ARC.

08.01.2022 This story is about James Fitzgerald, NARGs koala coordinator. The searches referred to in the article by Olivia, are in the NARG area around Nerriga where James and the team rescued 7 koalas following the 5 James and others rescued in December and January. The 7 NARG koalas are all still in care and doing well. Well done NARG members, the vets, vollies and search teams who came from all over the place to help NARG out during the fires.

08.01.2022 Ken (and Naomi Henry)... great thinkers... great Australians... great wombat guys... long time members of NARG.

08.01.2022 NARG's landline is dead. There is a system outage somewhere and it might take until the 22nd to fix. Telstra has put a diversion in place. Hopefully it will work. If the diversion doesn't work, For any wildlife emergency try 0411 375 275. Thanks

07.01.2022 NARG can't thank you enough- our two lovely carers Anne and Shannon- well supported by ARC and Select Electrical- Thank you one and all xxx.

07.01.2022 This is about James, NARGs koala guy! Several of the Ks in care are NARG babies!!!

07.01.2022 Just a special little thanks to the VIC- Braidwood and Villages Tourism inc for the ongoing supporting as our major outlet for our annual wombat calendar and, just recently, for a very kind donation of $$$ toward our ongoing costs of helping our native wildlife. Thank you Margaret Tuckwell, Georgina Byrnes and team.

07.01.2022 NARG is very please to be able to support local industries while also carrying out our important charity work. Thanks for the prompt attention you gave us. Now all we need is for the bush to grow back!! Thanks RSK Fabrication.

06.01.2022 This may seem an odd sort of posting on a wildlife caring site but these wonderful young Australians were part of the large troupe of players who performed last night to raise much needed funds for NARG and the Braidwood Life Centre community help fund. Great work one and all. Big thanks to Bernie and the team, StageCenta and Masonicare. Revue for Recovery was a great idea really well executed!!! Thank you thank you thank you! xxxxx WombatBill.

06.01.2022 From our NARG member on the team Update for our kind supporters Tuesday at 10:15 NARGs interim emergency wildlife veterinary triage clinic is established. We have a volunteer vet and vet nurses on site. This has been very challenging under the introduction of the Corona virus protocols that has affected our choice of preferred location, sourcing vets, vet nurses, darters, assets and equipment. We have pushed forward with wildlife search and rescue program nevertheless and despite these very real and present challenges. Today we have a thermal drone operator with us for two mornings, and have them scoping out green patches that would take us on foot, so much longer to locate. Your continued support even in these challenging times and uncertain conditions is hoped for as we continue to move forward.

05.01.2022 Thank you NARG member Marcus.

03.01.2022 Thank you to the theatre loving folks from Canberra and Queanbeyan for supporting little ol Braidwood. Much love going your way!!!!

03.01.2022 If you can t come on Saturday night, you might like to help the Braidwood Community Fund And NARG this way.

03.01.2022 Just sayin... thanks for all the help ARC and all our many local supporters!!

02.01.2022 Here is the best news you've had all year!! Orders now being taken!!! An email to [email protected] is all it takes in the first instance. They will be on sale in and around Braidwood and Canberra as usual. You could call 48461900 if you would like the personal touch!!! Two months to Christmas!!!

01.01.2022 Urgent request!!! The NARG wildlife rescue project based at Tomboye and working in the Nerriga area is extremely successful so far!! we have saved several koalas so far in the area with several more found to be brought into care over the next few days. Our vet and vet nurse team is very busy rescuing and caring BUT these volunteer Veterinarians and Vet nurses who are part of the NARG Triage Clinic and Search and Rescue teams need somewhere to sleep!!!! Short term accommo...dation is in desperately short supply in Braidwood and our volunteer vets are sleeping on the floor!!! We are in urgent need of B&B rooms/ flats/ homes for short periods of time in or near Braidwood or to borrow or rent a caravan or two for a few weeks. Folks, we need your support here!!! Does anyone have a caravan sitting idle that we could borrow or hire from you? It would be taken to Ningee Nimble Farm at Tomboye. We really only need it for beds as the team can use the kitchen and bathroom in the cottage so there would be very little impact on your van!! Naturally it would be completely cleaned and disinfected before return. We will happily collect it and return it. It will not be travelling- they are just needed for sleeping purposes. The team members are professional people volunteering their time and are all really conscious of the hygiene requirements at the moment I can assure you. You can rest assured there will be plenty of care taken and your van will be very safe. If you can help with either B&B rooms with kitchen access or indeed a caravan please please please let me know either through Facebook or by text/ voice to 0411 375 275. Thank you.
