15.01.2022 Hi all please see the event listed below and share widely. Woohoo. A mini Nariel dance. All funds will be distributed through Rotary Club of Corryong to people in the Upper Murray associated with the festival and who have been impacted by the fires. We may buy them some new instruments too. Hope you can make it to the gig and if you can't please feel free to donate anyway. Cheers Jamie https://facebook.com/events/s/fire-relief-fundraiser-3-narie/169900464279739/?ti=ia
14.01.2022 Hi Nariel folkies. It is with some sadness that I have now left Nariel to return home. A few days of business as usual at the office then back on to Fire Behaviour shifts starting next Monday. It likely to be a long season yet. Thanks again to everyone who have pitched in and helped over the last ten days during and after the evacuation. Many people have come and collected their belongings which is great. Some are missing an eski or other item here and there (including myself...). Its another bad fire day tomorrow so I suggest don't try to travel there for a day or two until the road is clear again. There is still active fire in the landscape there. Follow the advice on the Vic Emergency app and the Towong Shire web site, and VicRoads website for advice about road closures. Late next week is looking like another opportunity to get stuff and Ill provide an update after the weekend on access. Any small items left behind will be stored as lost property until next the festival. Or we may be able to arrange access to lost property some time later. There's a few concerts and fundraisers coming up so stay tuned and donate cash or skills where you can to help the local community get through this. I also encourage you to write down your story and send it and photos to me at [email protected]. What worked well, what can be improved, your timeline of events etc. Also some peeps videoed the briefings I gave and I would like to get copies of these and any other notes made during or after the events that happened. Send to [email protected] with your contact details included. Many thanks. Stay safe you lot and thanks again for your cooperation in evacuating and maintaining the reserve and property there.Hope to see you all back next year or sooner. Lotsa love Jamie See more

02.01.2022 Road block update to post below Hi all. Yes the police have the road blocked locally to stop sightseers. The police should let you through if 1. you advise that you are picking up property from the Nariel Reserve after being evacuated 2. Advise that you are informed that the VicPol MERC has approved, via the Incident Controller, for festival evacuees to collect abandoned property ... 3. Present ID if requested. 4. Advise you are not staying and not sight seeing. 5. Please do not drive up the valley past the reserve unless you are visiting a resident and have advised police of your intention. 6. If there's any issues please ring the incident control centre at Wodonga (02 6071 5300)and ask for the VicPol Municipal Emergency Response Controller. 7. Mention my name. Call me as well if any issues Jamie Molloy Hi Nariel Folks. Fire Update. Things have quietened down a lot in the Corryong area but obviously the impacts will be felt by the community for quite some time to come. The Nariel Folk Festival is providing financial support through the Rotary Club of Corryong directly to some local festival supporters who have suffered badly as a result of the fires. We are also hosting a benefit gig at the Last Jar Hotel in Melbourne on the 8 Feb 5.00pm to 7.30pm. A separate Facebook event will be created shortly for this. We are also considering a free gig in Corryong some time in the near future. Thanks to everyone who has come and collected their belongings from the Nariel recreation reserve. We still have a few tents and bits n pieces remaining and are asking that if you have left things behind to please come and pick them up in the next week or so. We will be gathering up any remaining items next Saturday/Sunday and storing them as lost property until the next festival. Please share this post to all your festival friends to get the messages out there. Thanks Jamie
