22.01.2022 Navigating the early stages of your separation can be an overwhelming process. Aside from parenting arrangements, one of the major points to consider following a relationship breakdown is the splitting of assets. It is important to note that obtaining a divorce is not required in order to secure a financial settlement and that a financial settlement can occur at any point during the separation process, whether you were married or in a de facto relationship. Reaching an agreem...ent with your former partner with respect to property, without going to court offers many advantages, such as reducing the financial and emotional costs of legal proceedings. It is possible to agree with your former partner on how your property should be divided without going to court, through either a financial agreement or an agreement formalised by consent orders. For further information on financial settlements, please refer to the Family Court of Australia website or contact our office.

17.01.2022 Divorce and property settlement are two different family law matters, which are commonly confused as one single matter. You do not have to wait until you are divorced to negotiate a property settlement with your former spouse. A property settlement can take place any time from the date of separation until 1 year after divorce for married couples or 2 years from the date of separation for de facto couples (some exceptions may apply). A property settlement is the division of th...e couple’s combined assets/liabilities and are often dealt with by way of consent orders, which are lodged with the Family Court. Alternatively, a divorce is an order by the court that officially ends a marriage. For further information, contact our office.

09.01.2022 Wills & Estate Planning When discussing your wishes, the solicitor will require details from you to understand your circumstances. This will help the solicitor provide you with the best estate planning options for your situation. To assist with the process, we have come up with 5 questions to ask yourself, in order to begin thinking about your Will: 1. Who do you trust to carry out your wishes?... 2. Who would you like to leave your estate to? 3. Would you like to leave any specific gifts of assets or personal items? 4. If you have children who are minors, who would you like to appoint as guardian of your children? 5. Would you like to specify any burial directions? Contact our office on 02 4476 5300 or [email protected] with any questions.
09.01.2022 2020 was a year for adapting to new procedures, learning how to work online when required, and it even brought changes to legislation to allow for solicitors to witness the signing of documents remotely. If you do not live locally, or you are unable to visit our office to discuss your matter chances are we can still help through the use of electronic platforms. With Zoom, DocuSign and WebVOI, we can complete your conveyancing or estate planning matter from start to finish without your attendance at our office. Contact our office on 02 4476 5300 with any questions.
02.01.2022 What clients have to say about our service. Thankful for the positive feedback, it means so much to our business!
