25.01.2022 Dear Valued Customers, Unfortunately, Australia is experiencing unprecedented shipping issues which are now impacting the arrival of many products across all Australian markets. The impact of Covid-19 and Industrial actions has severely disrupted International sea freight into Australia.... Union issues in Sydney during September 2020 resulted in port strikes with vessels being unable to dock for more than 18 days. Many of these vessels chose to leave Sydney (rather than remaining idle) for Melbourne and Brisbane causing tremendous port congestion. Union action has now resulted in many shipping lines (including Maersk) deciding to pull out of Sydney port entirely. Some of their largest customers (Woolworths, Westfarmers, Toyota and Nike) have all had to divert containers and have added more than 5,000 containers per week to alternative routes already at capacity. Adding to this, the International Marine Organisation (IMO) have now enforced stringent global regulatory limits on sulphur used in fuel oil. This has forced many older vessels to be decommissioned resulting in fewer vessels being available for shipments. This has resulted in fewer containers available in Asia to load goods and huge demand on shipping space. Thailand is currently experiencing a backlog of more than 40,000 containers ready to be shipped once capacity / shipping space becomes available. We are trying our best to make sure we have sufficient supplies of all our products for this upcoming busy season.
