22.01.2022 Information from State. Jude Please see here a letter from Dr Kerry Chant and attached information from Sport NSW, regarding non-essential travel within the s...tate and its impact on community sport. As per Dr Chants recommendations the PCA NSW State Executive will conduct a full review on the viability of this years State Championships and confirm the outcome as soon as possible via a separate communication. However at this it is highly likely that all 2020 State Championships may be cancelled, not just those in to be held in the next six to eight weeks. As per the recommendations club activities may still go ahead under certain conditions as long as clubs have up to date Covid Safety Plans and complete a risk assessment for each activity to determine the risk to attendees regarding these recommendations. PCA NSW recommends that in addition to all Covid Safe Practices including staying home if you are unwell, restriction of participants from affected areas, social distancing and good hygiene attendees that attendees wear face masks when not riding, this includes all spectators and volunteers on the grounds. Clubs must cease any activities that result in overnight stays (camps) due to increased risk of COVID transmission with shared facilities. Ceasing of zone, regional or state championships or competitions for the next six weeks as these activities bring together participants including spectators and officials from different regions of the state. Riders who have nominated for the immediately affected State Championships will receive full refunds and nominations for further championships have been suspended until a risk assessment is completed by the State Executive for the balance of the years activities. Zones hosting Regional Schools, Instructor Schools and Assessments must review their Covid Safety Plans and risk assessments to determine the viability of the activity under these recommendations. As these activities have limits on attendees and do not include overnight stays/camping for participants they may go ahead with extra Covid precautions to be taken, including the wearing of face masks by all attendees when not riding. NEW RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COMMUNITY SPORT FROM NSW HEALTH Due to uncertainty in the continually changing health environment, shown below are new recommendations for community sport that have been advised today by Dr Kerry Chant, Chief Medical Officer, NSW Health. Sporting organisations are requested to commence implementation of these recommendations by Wednesday, 19 August and it is anticipated that they will be in place for the next six (6) weeks. At this stage, community sport may be able to continue as it is currently being implemented providing that it does not require inter-regional mixing including activities which bring together participants (including spectators and officials) from organisations in different regions of Sydney, from a rural area into a metro area and vice versa, and movement between different rural areas. It is essential that all community sports organisations have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place, and are fully compliant with their Plan: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/industry- guidelines/community-sporting-competitions-and-full-training-activities Shown below are some Frequently Asked Questions from the NSW Office of Sport relating to these new recommendations. NSW Health continues to monitor the situation throughout the State, and the Office of Sport and Sport NSW will communicate any future recommendations, changes to COVID-19 Safety Plans or Public Health Orders that impact community sport. 20.01.2022 2021 will be our year!
20.01.2022 Regretfully at Tuesday night’s General Meeting it was decided that this year’s Pony Camp would not go ahead. This hard decision was made due to Covid 19 and the possible risk to our members and visitors. The restrictions which we have to follow make the running of these events very difficult and we felt that at this stage it would be in everyone’s best interest to cancel our camp. We hope that 2021 is a much better year and look forward to a bigger and better camp next year.
20.01.2022 We would like to invite fellow Pony Club members to join us for the weekend on the 28th & 29th of November. Entries will be up soon on nominate.

16.01.2022 **Cancellation of State Championships** It is with enormous regret that Pony Club Association NSW advises of its decision to cancel all 2020 State Championships.... PCANSW had hoped to follow the revised schedule for 2020 to maintain an air of positivity for our sport, regrettably the time has come for us to concede that this is not possible. PCANSW have participated in a number of all-sport briefings with the NSW Government to receive the latest information from NSW Health and the Acting Minister of Sport. The advice at the last meeting was to ‘avoid large, inter-regional championships’. On Monday 17th August 2020, PCANSW received the advice of before the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, which requested that all community sport organisations cease any activities that result in overnight stays due to increased risk of COVID transmission in these situations for a period of six (6) weeks commencing 19th August 2020. Three of the re-scheduled State Championship events fell within the six-week period to the which restrictions currently apply, with further events scheduled to occur with the 4 weeks following on from the current restriction. Acknowledging that this is a dynamic situation and recognising that the present restrictions are likely to be extended further, it was felt that the appropriate response would be to cancel all State Championship events for the remainder of 2020. This decision has not been made lightly as PCANSW recognises the broader responsibility we have to contribute positively to stop the transmission of COVID within NSW. PCANSW would like to recognise the enormous effort that goes into the planning and preparation of these events for organising committees, volunteers, competitors, and families. We understand that there will be disappointment because of this decision, however, it was felt that members would benefit most from clear directives for the remainder of 2020. 2020 has been a year that none of us will forget in a hurry, with drought, fires, flood and now COVID so affecting some many of our members, and now the cancellation of State Championships. PCANSW will now re-focus our activities towards providing further training and development opportunities for members for the balance of the year and planning for 2021.
14.01.2022 Information from State re Rally Day Attendance. Jude Hi all Just a quick reminder that riders may not have had the opportunity to attend rally days this year ...and as such discretion needs to be used by clubs and zones keeping in mind at all times that riders be safe. This may mean that a rider may not have attended the mandatory three rally days prior to the championships but are graded/competent at the level of competition that they are nominating for. Kind regards Kerren Britton Executive Officer Pony Club Association NSW P O Box 2085 Wollongong NSW 2500 02 4229 8977

08.01.2022 Another updated calendar of events with further cancellations and postponed events. Jude
06.01.2022 Our August Rally Day has been postponed due to the current restrictions and guidelines. In view of these restrictions and the hefty fines which we face if not totally compliant we feel that we need to take a step back and reassess the running of our events. We welcome any suggestions or help which may be on offer. We will also have to look at the August General Meeting to see if it is possible to have it.
05.01.2022 Awesome news for associate riders. Jude
04.01.2022 FYI. Latest news from PCA NSW re NSW Health Guidlines and Recommendations. Clarifications from PCANSW Jude Good morning all, PCA NSW attended an all of sport... meeting with the Acting Minister of Sport Dr Geoff Lee where the recent NSW Health guidelines and recommendations were discussed. During this discussion I had the opportunity to clarify the following: PCA NSW members: Must compete and train within their zone as determined by PCA NSW No overnight stays to be held in the next six weeks until at least 30th September 2020 Clubs and zones that were scheduled to hold school holiday camps may look at holding multiple day instruction days with members returning home each day Restriction of travel for those members of clubs not currently located within their Local Government Area (LGA) Clubs and zones must complete a risk assessment and Covid Safety plan for all activities including competitions, rally days, multiple day training activities, regional schools, instructor schools and NCAS assessment and submit a copy to the state office for insurance purposes. Risk assessments should include details relating to the whole activity not just those relating to reducing the spread of Covid, the example below in the download section can be used to start this process Keep a copy of the completed risk assessment and Covid Safety Plan on the grounds to provide to NSW Health authorities (fines may be applied for those clubs who do not have or are not following Covid Safety Plans of $1,000 each) in the event that they conduct a spot check, these plans should be reviewed and updated after each activity to streamline the process Exclusion of anyone who seems unwell or has recently traveled to ‘Covid affected areas or hotspots’ as list on NSW Health website Clubs and zones must monitor NSW Health website and revise and update these plans accordingly regarding restriction of attendees from Covid hotspots Communicate clearly to all members your expectations on their attendance including but not limited to the following: Nomination process Restrictions relating to parent/caregivers to one per rider only where possible Providing contactless options to nominate, provide Covid self-declarations, canteen orders etc. where possible Communicate new practice surround gear check (still contactless as per example risk assessment) Communicate details of PPE available noting that members should also carry their own personal hand sanitiser and we strongly recommend that attendees wear face masks including riders when they are not riding Provide signage at the venue to remind members about social distancing and good hygiene practices The major change here relates to mandated wearing of face masks at activities and events and the most recent NSW Health data reflects that community sport has continued to maintain very low contract tracing spread of the virus. PCA NSW recognises that these restrictions place an added burden on Club Committees and would like to thank our volunteers for the outstanding work that they have been doing throughout these unchartered times. Stay safe and well Kerren Britton Executive Officer
