24.01.2022 One day a junior tennis player, whilst riding in the car with his coach to a tournament, was discussing his match and the tactics he needed to employ to beat hi...s opponent. The match was played on clay and it was a match he was favoured to win. His coach told him "Today I wan't you to serve and volley every point" The player proceeded to look at his coach with bewilderment as he never serve and volleyed and replied "What? But I can beat this guy if I play my game from the baseline" His coach was adamant that he wanted him to serve and volley every opportunity. The match was played and the junior lost and was very upset afterwards and even held some resentment towards his coach. As they drove home the coach turned to the player and said " Well done. today you showed me why you will be a champion. You trusted me we're prepared to go out of your comfort zone and showed me we can work together as a team" That player was Rafael Nadal. Was a great story told to me by Emilio Sanchez a few years back at his academy as to what makes Rafa so great. One thing parents and players must ALWAYS remember is that it is a long developmental journey and results can take too much of a priority over developing a player to reach the long term goals that are set. Whilst building the right foundations technically, tactically and physical are of upmost importance it's the look in the eyes and the desire of a junior to be willing to do whatever is required, and be prepared to take a fall. Like Rafa, when someone is put out of their comfort zone, that is truly when a person's true character is on show. And that's part of the reason why Rafael Nadal is arguably the greatest and fiercest competitor in world sport today!

20.01.2022 Dear Tennis NSW Community, Since 15 May when we saw some easing of restrictions by the State Government in NSW, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank our te...nnis family in acknowledging and implementing the recommended guidelines. We’re also pleased to hear that the resources provided have been well received and that they are assisting you as you have re-opened or plan to re-open your venues and welcome players back to our sport. As you may be aware, further changes are being proposed by the NSW State Government from 1 June. As always, we appreciate that many of you will have questions surrounding what this means for tennis and any possible further changes to the guidelines. Our team are working through this now, together with the State Government and Office of Sport. Our Guidelines are likely to be updated to include the following changes: Clubhouses re-opening, further easing of restrictions to on-court coaching and with the resumption of regional travel, then we would be considering what local and regional tournaments and match play may look like. All of these changes will have to be considered alongside any updates to the Public Health Orders as well. In regards to the resumption of TA sanctioned AR tournaments (AMT’s, JT’s and JDS), until all borders are open and the ranking system can operate freely, there is currently no date for the resumption of these tournaments. We will be communicating shortly on how Tennis NSW intends to provide competitive opportunities for our playing groups in the next week. All of our collective actions in the past few weeks have led us to a point whereby we are able to resume our sport far quicker than what many of us envisaged a month or so ago. May I thank you again for your support and assistance in helping us achieve this. Regards, Lawrence

17.01.2022 Dear Tennis NSW Community, Further to the Prime Minister’s announcement today and the Federal government updating restrictions in relation to COVID-19, at this ...stage there is no movement at a State level for us. As our Premier Gladys Berejikilian advised, no NSW restrictions will be lifted this weekend. Therefore our guidelines are unchanged and you can find them here. We will continue to monitor the position of the State and Federal governments and provide you with a timely update once a decision has been made to ease the restrictions in NSW. Thank you all for your continued cooperation and support, Lawrence https://www.tennis.com.au//TNSW-COVID-19-Community-Tennis-

17.01.2022 Group lessons resuming today Please note that Narrabri Tennis and the Narrabri & District Tennis Association are adhering to the NSW government guidelines about outdoor public gatherings and the Tennis NSW guidelines about group size. The smaller groups will operate on 1 court with a 4:1 ratio.... The larger groups will be operating across 2 courts with a 4 player to 1 coach ratio. This means 8 players maximum with 2 coaches equals our 10 total venue maximum. So when our venue limit is close to being reached we are asking parents to please watch their children’s lesson from the car park, as soon as the this restriction is lifted your welcome back to watch from court side. Thanks for your understanding.
