24.01.2022 Narrandera Golf Club Summer Teams 2020-21 Round 11 The Summer Teams Committee hopes that everyone has had a lovely Xmas and a joyous New Year.... With many away on holiday, we only saw 90 players take to the course for Round 11, with 107 cards being submitted. Please remember to take a sand bucket with you on your round and fill any divots that you create in your play. Also, if you know how to, please also repair pitch marks on the green, if you are unsure of how to make these repairs, there are several members who can assist. Top 5 team scores for round 11 are: Party Central 112 nett; Mulligatawny 2's 113 nett; Mulligatawny 1's, Gee"Gee's 2 & Cruisers 117 nett. Best Individual scores for the week were Fiona Gawne 24 nett; Joe Grinter, Kerri Quilter & Tom Steele all on 25 nett; Colin Burrell & Lee Longford on 27 nett. Balls went to 29 on a count back. This week saw 8 birdies, with Jono Schofield getting 2. We are now at the halfway mark, and there is a tight tussle for teams vying for a place in A grade for the finals, a few good rounds from these teams could see them sneak above the line. Do not forget the Narrandera Golf Club is open for their Friday meals, let’s face it who wants to cook on a Friday night. Many thanks to the sponsors for this year, please invest in their future as they invest in ours. See you on the green The Summer Teams Committee

20.01.2022 On Sunday (13th December) Jake, Kurt, Tom, Phil completed the Longest Day in aid of the Cancer Council. That’s 72 holes of golf in a single day, they teed off at 5.45am and sank the final putt at 7pm that night for just over 13 hours of continuous golf. Kurt floated the idea to the team , there wasn’t a second of hesitation, they were all in. The guys originally set a goal of $4000 but because of your support changed to $4500 then $5000 and now sitting at just over $6000 and... donations are still open until mid January. The guys would like to thank Narrandera Golf Club & Function Centre especially Gary Shandly and Dunc McLay for the carts and lunch, didn’t expect that at all so thank you. Thank you also to Margaret Jensen for the 5.30am tee off photo shown below, Sharon N Russ Anderson for the morning coffee and Kathy Robinson and David Robinson for the bread rolls that turned into dinner - we all appreciated it greatly. As mentioned above, donations are still open so don’t be shy, help add to the total and make a difference. If you are unable to donate on the below link, pls contact Kurt, Jake , Tom or Phil - I’m sure they will help you thru the process A huge congrats to these 4 young guys - seen regularly playing at our course and have put their golf skills to support a very worthwhile cause https://www.longestday.org.au/fundraiser/AJPC

13.01.2022 A dinner was held at the Narrandera Golf Club on Saturday night to celebrate 50 years since the new Clubhouse was opened. A brief history was given as to the destruction of the old Clubhouse. The Rescue Club had been organised to replace the roof and all materials were on hand to complete this work, however due to what may have been an electrical fault, the Clubhouse and all the supplies were destroyed. Although the local Fire Brigade was on the job almost immediately nothin...g could be saved from the fire. With no Clubhouse Mr. Wal Mulholland and crew came forward and completed a new shed in a day for premises to be used for the time being. The contract for the rebuilding of a completely new Clubhouse was then awarded to K.J & A.M. Lean and is what is used today. Three of the longest playing members, namely Mrs. Joan Durnan (Life Member), Mrs Pat Hayllar and Mr. Wal Mulholland were invited to cut the cake. See more
