24.01.2022 It gives the committee great pleasure to announce and welcome aboard newly appointed U18/1 coach Jawed Hussaini. Jawed has been with our club for many years now, first as a junior and into our senior ranks regularly playing in our first XI. We now see him take on a volunteer role giving back to our great club mentoring our young players. Last seasons U17/1 coach Vikram Chandel is coming onboard again as Assistant coach to the U18/1.... Vik and Jawed will make a great team as they work towards preparing our oldest junior cricketers in their final years as juniors, playing U18s cricket Sunday Mornings on turf.

23.01.2022 Narre South Cricket Club Women’s Coordinator Gina Smith is thrilled to announce SHANNON SMALL as coach in our inaugural season. Gina believes that Shannon’s cricket knowledge and experience is invaluable and states he is the perfect fit. Gina recently welcomed Shannon by way of interview. GS - What attracted you to this role? SS - I’ve seen and heard the amazing work the club has done in developing its female cricket program. The development and pathway of female cricket... is something I’m very passionate about and to see the investment Narre South has made in this area is very exciting. To contribute to this was certainly an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. GS - How long have you been involved in cricket? SS - I played my first game when I was 6 (26 years ago)and have worked full time in the UK and at Cricket Victoria the past 5 years. GS - Name your favourite three female cricket players? Give reasons. SS - Elyse Perry- terrific role model and hard worker Sophie Devine(NZ)- I think is the best player in the world, attacking batter and bowler Sophie Molineaux- star of the future, local Dandenong girl who played for Australia the last two world cups. GS - Do you have a ritual or lucky charm when coaching? eg. Lucky socks. SS - not really, I’ve always liked to coach with a smile and tend to walk a lot of laps during play. GS - What do you love about cricket and coaching? SS - I believe cricket brings people together and builds friendships more than any other sport. As a coach, I love being able to help people improve and see them get great joy out of it. GS - What three words best describe your coaching style? SS -Empower -Enjoy -Improve GS - Name your favourite tea break snack? SS - Scones with jam and cream, not a good mix on a hot day. GS - Would you encourage beginners to come down and give it a go? SS -Absolutely!! I really do encourage anyone interested to come down. This team will be about having fun and improving, while being part of a great family club. The women’s team are recruiting players, no experience required. For further information please contact Gina via email [email protected] or on 0420391803 See more

20.01.2022 Good morning everyone (message from DDCA) We have been notified that VICPOL will be patrolling local Cricket club facilities and will be issuing $1,600 individual fines as at today. It has come to their attention that groups of people are using Club Cricket Nets to practice.... Given the current cluster in the City of Casey they are keen to stamp out any illegal gatherings. Some of these groups are related directly to some cricket clubs, so please get the message out there to everyone at your club that under the current S4 lockdown, people can only meet socially with one other from the same household, they are not permitted to have training sessions at the club nets, in fact they need to stay home. The Police have been warning groups, but from today they are going to issue fines. A big concern to the DDCA is that these gathering could affect council allocating ground to clubs, thus causing our competition to be compromised. John Brooks Secretary DDCA

20.01.2022 Hi Members and Friends, If you are getting ready to focus on your fitness post lockdown, see our friends and partners at Priority Health and Fitness.
