25.01.2022 PLANNED INTERRUPTION TO WATER SUPPLY IN TRANGIE, FRIDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2020 Council wishes to advise residents that there will be planned interruptions to the water supply in Enmore Street, Derribong Street, Trangie Road, Weemabah Street and Bimble Box Lane in Trangie on Friday 25 September between 10am and 4pm. In addition to the mentioned areas, residents in the general vicinity may experience a drop in pressure, and water discolouration during and up to 24 hours following t...he interruption. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, as road closures and traffic controllers may be utilised. Any residents with special water needs are advised to contact Council as soon as possible on 6889 9999 to allow special arrangements to be made. Residents and businesses are requested to ensure that they have ample water in reserve to cover their requirement during the interruption to service.

24.01.2022 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT Earthworks begin at Narromine Wetlands Council wishes to advise residents that the first stage of construction at the Narromine Wetlands has commenced. This stage includes a carpark consisting of 25 car spaces and an area for bus and caravan parking, excavation of the first primary pond, creation of viewing mounds and pathways, and Narromine water supply rising mains upgrade and replacement.... These works will be undertaken as to minimize inconvenience to road users, however pedestrians and motorists are advised to enter the Wetlands with caution. Lane closures and traffic controllers may be utilised for the duration of the works. Minor delays may be experienced.

21.01.2022 Media Release - Domestic Noise Pollution Narromine Shire Council is reminding all residents about domestic noise pollution. Noise can be any kind of offensive noise including power tools and equipment, lawn mowers, animals, music, domestic air-conditions and motor vehicles. Narromine Shire Council General Manager Jane Redden said, ‘Council often receives complaints in respect to noise in residential areas, there are restrictions on domestic noise and the times during which sp...ecial restrictions apply.’ For instance lawn mowers, power tools and chainsaws are restricted for use between the hours of 7.00 am and 8.00 pm during the week and after 8.00 am on Sundays and public holidays. Ms Redden reminds all residents to consider their level of noise and the impact on neighbours. Councils have a duty under the Protection of Environment Operations Act to serve various notices on people occupying homes and businesses, requiring them to control offensive noise, she added. Breeding occurs during August and September with Magpies actively protecting their nests during this time. Magpies are native species to the Narromine Region and are protected species throughout NSW. 09.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE Restocking the Macquarie River with Native Fish The release of approximately 3,400 Murray Cod and 4,500 Golden Perch fingerlings will take place along various locations of the Macquarie River on Monday 11 January 2021.... The fingerling release is part of a ‘Dollar for Dollar Native Fish Stocking Program’ between Narromine Shire Council, Macquarie Cotton Growers Association and NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI). Narromine Shire Council’s Mayor, Clr Craig Davies said ‘Council has participated in the fish release program for 22 years with about 200,000 fingerlings released over this period’. It estimated that it takes around three to four years for the fingerlings to reach maturity and Council together with Macquarie Cotton Growers Association are working towards maintaining a balanced river ecosystem in the Narromine Shire by regularly stocking the Macquarie River with native fish species, he said. The Dollar for Dollar Native Fish Stocking Program is recognised for its importance to the Narromine region in terms of providing quality recreational fishing, conservation outcomes, employment and subsequent economic benefits, he added. There is an opportunity for Narromine Shire residents to participate in the fish release on Monday 11 January 2020 at 10.30 am Narromine Boat Ramp (Rotary Park), further releases will occur downstream at Turkey Farm Reserve and Trangie Ski Hole.

04.01.2022 Narromine’s Pooch Park on all Paws Narromine Shire Council’s four legged friends can wag their tails in delight as the dedicated dog area at Rotary Park is now completed. The upgrade to Rotary Park is equipped with fencing, a dog bubbler and water bowl, seated picnic area, waste bag dispenser and bins and some additional trees for shade. There is also a series of dog agility equipment with hoops, ramps, jumps and weave poles for the canine athletes.... Narromine Shire Council Mayor Clr Craig Davies said that dog parks bring many benefits to the community, they encourage dog owners to exercise their pets and themselves, meet fellow dog walkers and be part of the Narromine community. At the same time the dedicated area prevents dogs interfering with other activities and events at Rotary Park. Narromine’s canine residents and their human owners now have additional fun places to explore beyond their home, where they can expend pent up energy and have fun with friends, added Clr Davies. The upgrade to Rotary Park was funded with grant money received from the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme. Additional improvements to Parks in Narromine include replacing playground equipment at Dundas Park and upgrades to the surface of the basketball/multi court, netball club amenities, 2 additional netball courts, play area and landscaping at Apex Park. All work is expected to get underway by January 2021.

03.01.2022 TRANGIE AQUATIC CENTRE OPENING HOURS As of 4 January 2021, visitors to the Trangie Aquatic Centre will be able to enjoy early morning swimming from 6am - 8am. This is in addition to the already extended school holiday hours in place as of 21 December. Early morning swimming will be available on weekdays only, between 6am-8am and will be reassessed throughout the season.... Please make sure your pet has ample shade, access to clean fresh water and where possible let them inside to cool off in the air-conditioning. Do not exercise your pet in the heat of the day. Oversize vehicles have blind spots and may not see other vehicles on the road, take extra care when overtaking as many have trailers attached and can be longer than expected. Heavy Vehicles may move slowly please be patient and share the road safely. Electronic message boards have been installed at locations around the region’s road networks and is a timely reminder to us all to drive safely.
