30.01.2022 May 2022 bring all more love, light, kindness and joy and less "Groundhog Day".

25.01.2022 Wishing everyone a love and light filled mid-summer/winter celebration. Our horses have already enjoyed their special breakfast and are interested to know what is for dinner.

25.01.2022 Client Notice COVID-19 - As an essential animal health practitioner, Glen is continuing to attend horses and will continue to do so unless he becomes ill or the Government directs vets and farriers to cease work. In order to keep Glen, other clients and equine health practitioners he works with healthy, we ask clients to utilise the biosecurity protocols recommended by authorities for humans and similar to those for horses during the Equine Influenza outbreak of 2007, which G...len successfully worked. If you have COVID-19 or have recently returned from overseas, please get someone else to attend the horse or let him know you are unable to attend. Prior to his arrival, please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and remove rugs but do not brush or rub the horse/s. You will need to handle the horse yourself. If you are unable to attend the horse Glen will use his own halters and leads. As he is under the horse with limited ability to move, it is your responsibility to maintain social distancing. A biosecurity recommendation is to minimise cash transactions, so please discuss with Glen electronic funds transfer prior to or on the day for your safety and his. Julia is not available due to being on emergency mangement duties (again!), so please ring Glen rather than e-mail or message. Depending on her schedule, it could be some time before messages are seen. If you plan to ride, always keep in mind a primary cause of stride faults like tripping and forging, body pain and a rough ride, is hoof neglect, so keeping your farrier healthy is important to you and your horse's safety and well being. We are all in this together and the simple things make a huge difference as to whether you have your farrier or vet available when your horse needs one.

25.01.2022 A favourite view from the office.

24.01.2022 Well Julia achieved this while I was away over the weekend, which is part of her emergency management skillset along with her health coaching certification achieved in December. While she intends to mostly teach online or as part of her emergency services volunteering, if any Covan Creek locals would like some equine assisted Qigong classes in the garden (the horses usually join class), she will run some free classes as part of her 30 hours of practice teaching.

23.01.2022 Thought for the day. When you support a small business, you support someone's dream to create a life they love. When you support an Australian small business, you support an Australian dream, an Australian job, and ensure the product is available when you need it.

19.01.2022 Community Service Announcement

18.01.2022 How proud can a bloke be of his wife? Not pausing for congratulations on finally earning her Degree, now straight back into her Traditional Chinese Medicine studies.

18.01.2022 After a very busy bushfire season, Nashama Equine is back in to work. Thank you to all those fire fighters who gave up their Christmas break and downed tools to get on a truck or go into an incident management team, to other support services such as Police, Ambos, SES, ADF. Government and Council workers and NGO's, and all those that donated time, money and goods. We cover a large area of NSW, from Moss Vale to Wagga to Canberra to Braidwood, and a great deal of it was affected. Glen deployed to truck for 9 days and Julia for 50+ in community liaison. Thank you to all those amazing clients who worked with us to enable that level of deployment. We could not have deployed without your willingness to accommodate our RFS schedules.

18.01.2022 This old photo still makes me smile. Nashama has just been roused on advising Glen that there are MONSTERS (neighbour's donkey braying) in them that Marulan woods who were going to get his herd. Glen going 'Well, I don't care, you need to have your hooves trimmed! Now BE NICE!'

16.01.2022 RIP Rhydian 01/10/1991-27/052021. The Grey Marauder trotted over the Rainbow Bridge at 11.45am for his next life. Leader of many a raid on haystacks, orchards and feed sheds, Super Nanny to our young horses, teacher to many horse health care students and saviour of over 300 abused children's souls. He never won a ribbon but was worth more than diamonds. Glen has been owned by Rhydian since Rhydian was a yearling and is devastated to lose his mate after a 28 year partnership.

15.01.2022 Acupuncture is an ancient medical science and the more the new kid on the scientific block (Western science) researches it, the more it is verified as extremely effective. Our horses love acupuncture and line up for their turn when the magic equipment case appears. https://theconversation.com/this-ancient-chinese-anatomical

14.01.2022 Happy Birthday, Glen. 21 today (again)!Happy Birthday, Glen. 21 today (again)!

14.01.2022 Black Range is finally out.

14.01.2022 It's founder central in the region at the moment, and another set of "plastic fantastics" go on a very sore horse to relieve his soles and reduce concussion. As holistic horse practitioners, we swear by these shoes on our own horses and ponies on the rare occasion they need to be shod, no matter what the reason so always have them on-hand. Grass sugars are very high in the Goulburn region so watch your horses and ponies closely.

13.01.2022 Veolia Arena in Goulburn is open as an evacuation centre. Please try and get to an evacuation centre rather than a neighbourhood safer place if you need to evacuate.

13.01.2022 This gorgeous young fellow is an English donkey foal named Dusty, having his first trim.

10.01.2022 EMERGENCY WARNING - Charleys Forest (Queanbeyan-Palerang LGA) For people in the areas of Nerriga and Tomboyn, including Oallen Road, Nerriga Road and Charleys F...orest Roads, it is too late to leave. Seek shelter as the fire approaches. Seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

09.01.2022 A busy time around here with founder season for Glen. Julia is back soaping, her training as a Qi Gong teacher is progressing well, and she has revived her soaping page. #handmadewithlove https://www.facebook.com/nashamaindustries

09.01.2022 Happy Dance time.

08.01.2022 For those interested, The Spanish Riding School will post their broadcast to their page.

08.01.2022 To be a farrier is to know pain... Of all the years I've spent and of all the lives I've helped save during my career as a first responder it has paled in comp...arison to the joy I feel helping our four-legged family members take the first few comfortable steps they have felt in months or even years. However, when you work with the kind of complicated cases I do you quickly realize for every great battle fought and great victory won there is always the risk of devastating defeat lurking just out of sight. Despite my tireless efforts this past year I have endured far too many defeats, which has made me realize that to be a farrier is to know pain. Physical pain from the grueling labor of the job and pain from the terrible blows to your body when a horse lashes out, angry or frightened at their own pain and suffering. The mental pain from all the late-nights pouring over case studies, the endless miles, time, and treasure spent attending clinics, and all the planning, research, and collaboration done in a endless effort to prevent the next tragedy. Lastly there is the emotional pain of losing the battle and a life (a life we all too often have grown to love as much as their owners), of losing clients who all too often become friends over the years, and the pain of all the time with friends and family forever sacrificed on the open road. So please, be kind to your farriers. Their day has often been more difficult than you know... #erequine #farrierlife

05.01.2022 The horses seem to have discovered now she has finished University, Julia is practising equine and canine acupuncture with select clients, well, when she is not undertaking Qi Gong teacher training or working as an engineer or emergency controller. Previously she has only done our own, rescue or special veterinary cases such as the horse below (he was a bit of a mess after a float accident), so there are some lucky recreational horses booked in for the weeks ahead. Julia has over 15 years experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, photonic therapy, cranio-sacral therapy, massage therapy, microcosmic orbit and Buddha Hand, 40 years in Western herbal techniques, and is a Reiki Master! #acupuncturerocks

03.01.2022 Thank you, Trooper.

03.01.2022 Rain drops keep falling on my head, Just like our teams who were wishing they were still in bed. With the current severe weather affecting the Liverpool area,... NSW SES Liverpool unit are responding to various calls for assistance. We have three teams in the field and one team in the operations centre. Roads are being affected by flash flooding, and fallen trees. We remind motorists and residents to be cautious when driving and NOT drive through flood water. If you require NSW SES assistance call 132 500, if your call is life threatening call triple zero (000) IMMEDIATELY

02.01.2022 Lately I am seeing a lot of horse equipment being marketed as "fire retardent" and "fire safe". To date, no rugs have been tested as fire safe in Australia to the point where they are approved by the NSW RFS or any other emergency service authority. Before you part with hard earned cash straight after a horror bushfire season going into the next, please consider the following facts about a bushfire fighter's PPE. Fire fighters wear only natural fibres i.e. COTTON PPE which i...s specially treated with a chemical called PROBAN. If they are in a flashover event, inside the truck they pull woollen fire blankets over themselves and activate sprays on the truck, using WATER and WOOL. They divest themselves of any metal or synthetic fibres they have on them. After a flashover you will see on the truck floor tools, phones, keys, synthetic bras, etc., where the crew have got rid of anything they have on them that will superheat or melt and burn them. Female fire fighters hunt down cotton or wool bras and knickers like bloodhounds. the things you really need in a bushfire situation are FREE on the NSW RFS website and Facebook feeds - MyFirePlan, HowFireproofIsMyPlan, and the FiresNearMe App for your phone. As always, the best plan is to have a plan and leave early. Before you part with your money, ask yourself "Am I putting on my horse the same thing my local firefighters are wearing?" Julia.
