23.01.2022 Great first session for 2020! Word to Nasubukang Arnis x
22.01.2022 An excellent stick session this morning in the Nasubukang Arnis class. We worked on long range entries using body work, cylinder domination and full body power.... The principles we use in Nasubukang are exactly the same that we use in our other classes. Find the commonality in what you do and the skills and understanding you gain will spread into all other parts of your life. Try less, do more.
22.01.2022 Classes now on Thursday nights, and Sunday mornings. It's so much more than just stick fighting. No, my face won't look like that in class, I'm a lot happier : )
21.01.2022 Wow, 15 minutes and 6years ago :-)
17.01.2022 A piece of FMA history - the much talked about fight (then and since) and disputed result between Cacoy Canete and Esin Atillo in 1983.
17.01.2022 Your thought process is your greatest weapon.
17.01.2022 I thing like stick fighting in the morning : )
11.01.2022 A most excellent session this morning. We worked on forehand and backhand strikes as well as understanding when to use blocking and evasions. I even managed to squeeze in some foundational movements for good posture and increasing your sphere of balance. On a side note I have to stop breaking sticks on people, especially Paul : )
11.01.2022 The following was taken from an exchange of opinions with another instructor here on Facebook which I felt was worth repeating as it relates directly to Nasubukang Arnis and our training method: If the drill doesn't improve your timing, measure and footwork, is just a waste of time. Nasubukang Arnis: I disagree. There are so many more attributes one needs to improve upon through the practice of drills than just these three. For example, timing, measure and footwork are all...Continue reading
09.01.2022 Just beautiful to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch
07.01.2022 Form, Focus & Function - The Foundation Blocks Of Nasubukang Arnis FORM: It was GrandMaster Abner Pasa who first made me aware of the importance of Form. I’d never heard any other teacher refer to it prior to that - just as I’d never heard any other teacher of the Filipino Martial Arts refer to the importance of affecting the balance of your opponent whilst attempting to apply a lock, disarm or tie up as he did. Up until that point I’d only ever heard about the need to disr...Continue reading
04.01.2022 I'd like to take this moment to congratulate Jim on being awarded his full Instructorship in Urban Combatives by Lee Morrison this past week. Asides from being an Instructor in Nasubukang Arnis and co-founder of Raw Combatives (along with Jeremy De Silva), Jim also represents Senshido International and is the only Australian Instructor for Protect Self Defence. With close to four decades of training and teaching in the martial arts, I can honestly say that Jim is without a do...ubt one of the finest practitioners and teachers I've had the pleasure of knowing - truely world class. His level of understanding with regards to body structure, energy and power generation is second to none and whats even more impressive is that it's all knowledge that's been self taught. I'm so happy to see Jim getting the recognition he deserves now, not just in Australia but on the worldwide stage - it's been a long time coming. Well done mate and I know you'll be a fine Ambassador for Urban Combatives just as you already are and continue to be for the other methods you so capably represent. See more
01.01.2022 I decided to repost the following (in response to points raised by friends, Aiodhan and Brian from an earlier post) due to the fact that, somehow, an advert had annoying attached itself to the original post which I couldn't remove. Aiodhan: "But what is a fighting system? Is it the art or is it the person applying it?"...Continue reading
