16.01.2022 End of Day 1 of workshop. The iron pot is full of fabric bundles and students have opened their first paper bundles. Great results all!

16.01.2022 I put a heap of stuff in the pot yesterday. As I had left leaves soaking too long and needed to use them up I was playing with various remnants I had stashed in the studio. I remember there were bubbles in this piece of silk when. I decided not to remove them and I'm so glad! When I lifted it out of the pot I found this wonderful bubble pattern on the outside, between the string line.... And inside! Bubbles! Bubbles! Bubbles! 13.01.2022 Also in the experimental pot was a hank of silk yarn I'd forgotten in the bottom of a box. Unfortunately the images of unrolling it and its wrapping cloth (languishing next to it in said box) aren't in focus. I was a bit excited. Here are the 2 of them drying. ... If any of you have ever wondered why I have those pegs with hooks on the top they are multi-purpose. Perfect for hanging up hanks of yarn to dry! #ecoprint #ecodyeing #silkyarn

11.01.2022 Last weekend when I went to start my first brew at the workshop I discovered one of my giant pots had developed a hole. Matt came to the rescue, running a replacement down the hill. That night when I told Mum she said: "Your Grandfather used to seal leaking water tanks with a nut, bolt and washer." Next morning Matt and I fitted the smallest bolt I had into the hole and the pot worked hard all day... 04.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who came to the Open Studios last night. And thank you to @outerspace.ari for this opportunity which has been so productive for us all. In the final hours I managed to get one more shirt done (seemed to find myself saying "Needs another white shirt" regularly) and rearranged the web wall because it was no longered balanced. I found a wonderful old photo album (empty this time) while Op Shopping with Mum last week. It proved the perfect home for the 2 s...titched collages and I have more ideas to fill it, which in a way tell the story of the Disembodied clothes. @kymtextor came to visit, by chance wearing the brooch I'd sewn from offcuts of the original "back to the seams" artwork (which can be seen far left in first image) Meanwhile in the next room @ameliajmcleish in total contrast, presented the memory of the ARI with a minimalist, collective approach. Do love a hidden memory artwork. And through the wonky window the screenings looked like an Orwellian meeting. They weren't of course, they were wonderful. @dar_tist @danielsherington @dhanamerritt I'm sorry I didn't get (usable) images of your work. I loved hearing each of you talk about your work. Everyone created such well developed concepts in such a short time.
