24.01.2022 Potatoes are the new super food. Yep, you heard my right and its not just the latest fad.To be more specific they need to be cooked and cooled, that way they have a high level of resistant starch. . Resistant starch promotes fermentation of short chain fatty acids, which then promotes the production of a compound called butyrate, which plays a key role in promotion of gut health and general well being Benefits of Resistant Starch- promotes intestinal barrier integ...rity Decreases toxin absorption Decreases abdominal pain wand IBS symptoms Enhances insulin sensitivity Upregulates mitochondrial function, therefore it increases metabolism Reduces inflammation Increases weight loss . I love adding cooled cooked potato with herbs and spices into salads. For more info check out my blog on the Benefits of Resistant Starch. See more

23.01.2022 In winter do you sometimes just don"t feel like yourself? We've had some amazing beautiful sunny winter days in Perth lately. It made me realise how flat I was feeling when it was raining, dark and cold for days on end. I actually love all the seasons with what each brings. Winter I love drinking warm teas, slow cooked meals, snuggling up and watching movies with the family. Its a time to withdrawal and reflect. But it can limit some of the thing...s that can make you feel great. Socialising is limited, getting out an exercising can be a bit trickier when its blowing a gail outside. Also the lack of sunshine and light can darken our moods. I think this is quite a normal response for most people but if you find that this melancholy deepens into something more debilitating then you may be experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons SAD begins and ends at about the same times every year. If you're like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the Autumn and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. Less often, SAD can cause depressive symptoms in other seasons. According to the Mayo Clinic, symptoms for SAD include depression, anxiety, fatigue, social withdrawal, overeating, oversleeping and loss of interest in things one might normally enjoy. For some tips on how to combat this drop in mood see my link in bio to my latest blog post. . See more

23.01.2022 Blastocystis hominis and Dientamoeba fragilis are two common parasites that are found in people’s gut. They have often been blamed for many gastrointestinal issues, like IBS, pain and fatigue. I have both these parasites and in the past have blamed them for many symptoms that I’ve had. But the evidence is now showing that they may not be as bad as what we thought and the research shows that more with healthy gut function have these parasites than people with poor gut function.... Food for thought!! I had always believed that we do whatever we can with our naturopathic tool kit to kill these bugs. But again evidence shows we may be doing more damage than good. Believe me I’ve had many moments when I’ve done a 180 on what I thought was true. That’s why it’s so Important to stay open to the latest research. So if you do have these parasites and you do have gastrointestinal issues chances are it’s something else creating the problem. Loved to hear peoples thoughts....... See more

20.01.2022 At the the @fusionbizbabes Lorna Jane event @ljclarkson with my beautiful side kick Storme. She kept me on track on giving out samples and not getting carried away with chatting to everyone. It was such an amazing morning and thank you for everyone who came to chat and sorry if I forgot to give you a tea sample. Xxx

20.01.2022 I sometimes feel like Im grinch and the bearer of bad news but the reality is that this is the case for so many people. Its so ironic that people consume copious amounts of kombucha and fermented foods and believe they are doing something good for themselves, which in most cases they are but for a few, kombucha and fermented foods can have debilitating effects. Kombucha and fermented foods are very high in histamine and Im noticing more and more that people are becoming very ...intolerant to histamine. . Examples of foods that are high in histamine are Alcohol Fermented foods and drinks Matured cheeses Smoked meat products salami, ham, sausages Shellfish Beans and pulses chickpeas, soy beans, peanuts Nuts walnuts, cashew nuts Chocolates and other cocoa based products Vinegar Banana, strawberry, avocado, tomato . People that have histamine intolerance can have the following reactions when they eat high histamine foods: headaches/migraines diarrhea congestion/runny nose hives Asthma eczema/psoriasis itchy sensation vertigo fatigue flushing abnormal periods tachycardia anxiety I know when I eat too much chocolate, cheese and definitely red wine, I can get a few of these symptoms. Anyone else feel like they may have histamine intolerance? . If people do have histamine intolerance the goal is to reduce the amount of histamine containing foods in their diet and then address the underlying issues such as leaky gut, poor digestive enzymes, infections, inflammation, other food intolerances and Mast Cell Activation syndrome. . When the underlying issues are resolved your ability to consume histamine containing foods improves. See more

19.01.2022 Gotta love summer holidays. Im taking a couple of weeks off from clinic but still around if any one has any questions or just want to touch base. January is nearly fully booked but there are 1 or 2 spots left. Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas.

19.01.2022 Its amazing how many people dont realise this. It takes time to turn your health around and it takes time to maintain great health. . You need to make your health a priority. When your health starts going down hill everything else in your life starts to follow. . Everyone is busy but the healthiest of people make the time. ... . Get up earlier, find time at lunch to go for a walk, find 10 minutes to meditate, find time on the weekend to plan your meals. . Happy Tuesday xx See more

18.01.2022 Did you know that most people with Coeliac disease have no gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal pain or bloating? * Coeliac disease can be tricky to diagnose as it can manifest in other symptoms that include nutritional deficiencies, neurological symptoms, joint pain, skin disorders, mental health issues, infertility, headaches and fatigue. * Removing gluten from the diet can help with these symptoms to a point. Thats why it is so important to have holistic therapeutic approaches that addresses immune dysfunction, modulates inflammatory processes, supports gastrointestinal function and integrity, and correct nutritional deficiencies.

15.01.2022 Endometriosis is so much more than what is going on in the uterus. It can be removed temporarily with surgery but it doesnt address the underlying drivers. In most cases it will return unless a holistic approach is taken, where all the underlying causes are addressed. Thank you @natkringoudis for spelling this out.

14.01.2022 Ending the weekend and the school holidays with gratitude. Had amazing relaxing school holidays but also happy schools back tomorrow . Some of @jamie_gonzalez wisdom

12.01.2022 Please.......or more accurately get your ferritin levels checked. Ferritin is the main storage form of iron in the body. . So many times I see people diagnosed with different conditions including mental health issues without comprehensive investigations. When it can be as simple as an Iron deficiency. . Signs and symptoms of Iron deficiency include:... ADD/ADHD Anxiety cognitive decline Depression Fatigue Impairment of memory and new learning Hair loss Heavy periods Palpitations and anxiety Restless leg syndrome . Do any of these sound familiar? Correcting an Iron deficiency can be a game changer for peoples lives. I want to see a minimum ferritin level of 50ug/L, ideal 100ug/L. . Nat xx See more

10.01.2022 Im finding people are getting so overwhelmed with all the healthy things that they should be doing. (Let me just say some of these things and fads arent so healthy). Either way with so much information out there it makes people actually give up because they believe they need to to it all and then do nothing. Just start with one health habit at a time. Like focusing on drinking more water. That in itself is a game changer. Being healthy doesnt need to be complicated.

10.01.2022 Have you been giving your 2 homes lots of love lately

02.01.2022 I know I've posted this one before but its my favorite. This reminds me so much of my daughter Storme. And I do recall this being me when I was younger. I have to remember to bring her more to the surface. This joy is whats lifes all about. We need to remember this as we get bogged down with day to day stuff. How do you experience joy?
