24.01.2022 HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE! Do you want to avoid the gym? No time for the studio? I am doing something REALLY FUN and NEW - would you like to do it with me? You can do from home! 23.01.2022 This is Sam. She has been seeing me for a while now and I’m so proud of how much stronger she has become. Quadruped on the box requires a great deal of stability, and Sam was able to perform this exercise whilst balancing a Franklin Ball on her lower back. Now this requires real skill! Quirky client fact: Sam and I both realised we are both born at the same time, on the same day in the same year. We both have just moved from the same area to Lilli Pilli at the same time and we also share many interests and views as fellow Gemini’s. I just caught up on my intro to PSM (The Pilates Suspension Method) course with Rebecca Beckler from @pilates949 and I can’t wait to do all the modules and become a certified instructor! These straps just give such a unique twist to Pilates and I’ve found it can be a great replacement for all of the items you may find in a studio - the tower, Cadillac and a great partner for the reformer. I am currently embarking on a PSM journey with Rebecca Beckler from Pilates 949 and I’m so excited to share it with you! Classes will be available in the studio as private 1:1 combined with Pilates reformer sessions and I will also be offering lessons on zoom ... so you can do it from your home on a regular basis. All you need is to buy one of these and get it hung in your space. It’s really quite easy and affordable! If you have always wanted a reformer but not have enough room, then this is a great option. 10.01.2022 Reformer Springs. They help to support the movement and resist and challenge the movement! Which spring to use? I like to say red is a 1 (a whole number) and the green is a 1.5 (1 and a half times red) the blue is a half and the yellow a quarter... which spring to use? A qualified instructor can advise which one is best for your body and where it is at on the day, depending on the exercise. It’s not always about pushing it hard and using the biggest one possible. It’s important to look at your form and ensure you are holding a good integrity of the movement - quality of movement over quantity is essential for optimum results and progress. #pilates #pilatessprings #reformerpilates
07.01.2022 TIGHT UPPER BACK AND SHOULDERS? Try some thoracic rotation. Rotational twists on the reformer. I was feeling right in my thoracic spine today and felt like I needed some good rotation. This one is an excellent one to get the ribs moving and rotating. In every day life we rotate little however our body loves to be twisted. I felt my body being able to move better with each rotation. She is very strong and used to attend the gym many days per week yet still finds this style of exercise very challenging. She has created her own studio at home and joining in most classes. She has bought strap on weights from target and installed her Pilates Suspension Straps in the cabana outside. It’s inexpensive to set yourself up at home and zoom... makes the experience like we are all really there. My virtual teaching on zoom will be of the same standard as if I’m really there with you. My teaching style is very precise and I communicate clearly and in detail how I would like you to move. 05.01.2022 If you are stressed and overworked, and then also do extreme high impact exercise, you may find that things aren’t working as well as you would have thought. This is because your body is in fight or flight mode constantly and putting it under extra duress is counterproductive. When the body is in this highly stressed mode, it holds onto fat for survival. You may like to incorporate more Yin in your life. Gentle exercise like Swimming, Stretching and Yin Yoga can be highly beneficial. Stillness in the mind is important. It gives you power. The breath is essential for good technique and integrity of movement. It provides you with that extra ooomph. Once you learn to breathe like this the penny drops and you can see how important it is in every day life. Joseph Pilates called it the internal shower which nou...rishes all of our insides and internal organs. We can work on our abdominal muscles just by focussing on correct breathing techniques! Even lying down. In Yoga we talk of the breath being the life force. The Prana. We focus on the feeling of the breath, the energy. Also nourishing is, keeping us connected.... Allowing us to BE. Slowing the breath can help us to relax, to take us into a more restorative place. To calm the nervous system. Something so simple, keeping us alive. 02.01.2022 PILATES works every single little muscle in the body, even the ones you don’t know the names of. It works the muscles closer to the bone, and engaging and working correctly. Its like a science. It’s not about pumping iron or working your accessory muscles it’s about drawing them in, closer to your bones to make you stronger from the inside out, stronger core and spine. It makes your posture so much better and sometimes people even find they get taller. We also work on mobil...ity of joints so you can move more freely. It is part of my daily medicine and without it I would feel very stiff, sore and tired. I actually have a bulging disc, and was told I would be in pain for the rest of my life. This has not affected me at all since I started Pilates. I am now pain free. Back pain is not part of my life anymore. But it needs to be consistent. #pilates #movement #movementismedicine See more

There are two women that have done these Yin classes religiously (every single week) over the past 4 months and the results have been significant for them. They have been able to find a stillness they did not believe possible, a calmness and clarity in their lives which has had flow on effects to them in their personal and working lives and relationships. These girls are cool, calm and collected and GLOWING energetically Ded...icating this time to themselves has been a wonderful way to connect within and feel fantastic in mind, body and spirit.
