16.01.2022 From my US techie friends. This is the state of Georgias requirements to re open in the post COVID 19 world. For me theres not too many changes for me to implement if we have similar here, I already have pretty good hygiene protocols. But I do think with these regulations, cheap, no appointment needed nail bars maybe a thing of the past. Its going to be interesting, I think in Australia if the authorities dont get onto these nail bars & they go back to what theyve always done, well get a cluster outbreak & that will stuff it up for the rest of us.

There are still some appointments available from the 24th of November to the 16th of December. I will be closed from 25th of December to the 3rd of January.... 16.01.2022 Ok, I see this in my work day in, day out. Clients go to a discount salon & think they are getting the real deal. Discount salons are loaded with fake products, why? Because they are cheap. No one checks or polices this either, once again it’s up to the consumer to do their research. If you can’t remove your shellac easily at home with acetone, there’s a pretty good chance you don’t have a regulated gel polish product on your nails at all. In Australia, Shellac costs salons around $30 - $40 per bottle, you have 50 colours, then that’s quite an investment. That’s just the colour, they then also need to purchase the base coat & top coat & the correct lamps to cure the product optimally. Lamps normally go for $300 - $500 for branded products.

16.01.2022 COVID-19 Up Date. So far so good, Queensland salons & workplaces other than the Hospitality sector can remain open. Queensland had little to no community spread, it's mostly those returning from overseas. Sydney & Melbourne have both had untraceable community spread. So I am still operating, let's all pray Queensland can flatten the curve.

11.01.2022 Currently trialling Light Elegance new soak off Jimmy Gel, which allows our Buttercream colours to be used as a gel polish. Ive been doing lots of heavy gardening, so well see how they wear. They arent a replacement for hard gel, but will so far I think theyll wear, better than Shellac, but like Shellac they can be soaked of at home. Im liking them, but having nail beds as flat as pop sticks, I miss my hard gel curves & length.

08.01.2022 Well folks, Queensland is smashing the curve. Thankfully we have some federal politicians in our corner pushing to let us reopen. Hairdressers & barbers have been operating nation wide without a single transmission case. Fingers crossed, I'll be back behind the desk very soon.

08.01.2022 COVID - 19 UP DATE NSW shops & salons apart from essential services will be shutting down within the next 48 hours. VIC nail techs & shops are shutting down in the same way as NSW. With Queenslands soaring positive cases, a complete shut down is inevitable in my own business. I'm in the high risk category myself, as a local outbreak becomes apparent, I will be shutting up shop when the time comes, most likely it will be sooner rather than later. The government have just anno...unced support for business to ride this storm out. These shutdowns are likely to last for months. How's that for Murphy's Law, I'll have to close & I'm not even sick this time around!?!? But on a serious note, I want to still be around to do awesome nails in the future. I am planning to be open this week (if I'm still allowed). You will need the following items to maintain & gradually file off /remove your hard gel nails if needed. Files & buffers, Nail glue Cuticle stick Clear nail varnish/top coat Colour polish if you like it Acetone/nail polish remover. I have most of these items in stock if you want to pick some up asap. Pharmacies will remain open, big ones like Priceline, Terry White, Chemist Warehouse etc, also stock these items. Please don't buy some unknown product online & attempt to do your own, from other clients prior experience this ends in disaster especially for the wellbeing of your own natural nails. None of us will be going anywhere, spare a thought, your grown out nails won't look anywhere near as bad as my newly blonded hair with 3 inch dark salt & pepper regrowth. Stay safe everyone, let's do this for our nation's people. We don't want a repeat of Italy here!! Watch this space & your mobile text messages for updates.

04.01.2022 Well, so far we are still not allowed to trade, we will wait with baited breath until next Friday when there are any further lifts. I will be downloading the COVID Safe App, I strongly consider you do the same. We either follow the path of Taiwan, South Korea & Singapore, they don't need to have high app usage as their surveillance is everywhere, you cannot pick your nose in those countries & not be on footage. That's possible when you have a big population in a tiny space. W...e are too spread out for that, so we have to rely on the app. Also testing, please, please if you have ANY respiratory symptoms of any sort, stop, isolate & get yourself to a COVID Clinic ASAP, they are open 7 days per week. This coming cold & flu season we are going to have to be super, duper vigilant. Please don't shrug it off as 'just sinus' or 'just a cold', get tested! We can follow our Asian neighbours & accept surveillance & tracking & test, test, test, or the other option is the carnage of Italy, Spain, the U.K. & the US here. It's your choice Australia.
