25.01.2022 The Genealogical Society member, Ellis Treleaven, will be on SBS ‘Every Family Has a Secret’, on Tuesday 22nd September at 7.30pm. Ellis Treleaven has realized that her real identity has been kept from her for more than half a century. Ten years ago, Ellis discovered a birth document which reveals her father was not her dad and that she wasn’t born in Amsterdam, but in fact in a Czech ‘concentration and transit camp’ with her father listed as ‘unknown’. Ellis will travel to the Netherlands and discover why her mother lied to her, who her father is and how she came to be born in one of the most dangerous places on earth.

21.01.2022 Court rules alleged serial pedophile Malka Leifer mentally fit for extradition to Australia. In a pivotal ruling, the Jerusalem District Court has determined that alleged serial pedophile Malka Leifer is mentally fit for extradition to Australia, where she is charged with 74 counts of child sex abuse. I decided to accept the expert panel’s opinion, Judge Chana Miriam Lomp says, referring to a psychiatric board that unanimously ruled in January that Leifer has been feigning mental illness in order to avoid extradition to Australia, and which assessed her as fit to stand trial.

Queen Esther is the very essence of what International Women’s Day is about - women who do what needs to be done, even when it isn’t easy; women who know when to say, No, and understand there are times when we have to cease immediate gratification for the sake of the bigger picture. We have to harness the lessons of the Purim heroines, as we celebrate how far we have come, and what it means to be a strong Jewish woman.

We all need to adhere strictly to the advice of the Australian Federal Government together with the Qld Government. We also need to look after each other, especially and in particular for our vulnerable and elderly members of our community.... If you are elderly, disabled, living alone or unwell and need some assistance we do have qualified carers as well as volunteers who are able to assist with shopping/doctor etc. We don’t want anyone to fall through the cracks, so please let us know if we can assist you. 17.01.2022 Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Her name was Frieda Jungst. She was 5 years old when she died in the gas chambers of Auschwitz, in 1943. She was one of 1.5 million Jewish children murdered.

08.01.2022 STATEMENT FROM NCJWA The National Council of Jewish Women of Australia expresses concern and dismay at the recent ruling in Israel regarding the Malka Leifer ca...se. This hearing, number 57, saw the judge rule that another psychiatric panel is needed to assess Leifer. This ruling enabled her defense team to apply for bail which they are scheduled to do today. The NCJWA believes Malka Leifer’s extradition process should not be delayed any further and is deeply troubled by this seeming backward step, and fully supports Dassi Erlich, Nicole Meyer and Elly Sapper in their quest for justice and their campaign to bring Malka Leifer back to Australia to face the charges awaiting her. #bringleiferback See more
