22.01.2022 "An illness (maybe even terminal), or a pregnancy, or a trauma can throw us a long way from the course we had planned. It can feel soul-destroying to work hard ...on something whether a business, an education, a home only to feel like your hopes have been smashed. Sometimes they really have been. Fortunately, we don’t have to prove that we’re good enough for God: He already loves us. We don’t have to prove that we have enough value to keep around He knew all of your worth before you were born. When the world around us can’t see it, our Creator knows us completely. 21.01.2022 God’s Plans, Not Ours Alison Keene Intention It’s not ultimately about us and our plans, but God and His plans.... Scripture Teach us to number our days rightly, that we may gain a heart of wisdomPsalm 90:12 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.Proverbs 16:90 Reflection One of the beautiful things about God being in charge, and not us, is this: When it’s all said and done, it’s His plans that count. Media, news, and social media influencers tell us that we need to build our careers, pursue our dreams, fight for our rights, and work hard to prove that we’re good enough. It can feel overwhelming trying to do all the things that the world around us seems to ask of us (and even the church, sometimes). The younger people among us especially hear messages like this often: Don’t just settle for ordinary! Use Your Influence! Change your world! God isn’t one more item on our to-do list. He is our Creator, watching (some of) us chase our tails and waiting for us to look to Him. God knit us together in our mothers’ wombs; He knew each one of our days before any of them came to be (Psalm 139). He loved us and called each of us to be His; He has prepared good works in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). We love Him in return, because He first loved us. He loved us so much that he gave us Christ on the cross. As a mother, the idea of giving up a son is unthinkableand yet that’s what God did for us! An illness (maybe even terminal), or a pregnancy, or a trauma can throw us a long way from the course we had planned. It can feel soul-destroying to work hard on somethingwhether a business, an education, a homeonly to feel like your hopes have been smashed. Sometimes they really have been. Fortunately, we don’t have to prove that we’re good enough for God: He already loves us. We don’t have to prove that we have enough value to keep aroundHe knew all of your worth before you were born. When the world around us can’t see it, our Creator knows us completely. He knew this would happen, and He yet has things for us to do. As we continue to pray, give, write letters, and use the talents God has given us, let’s not forget what James says about not taking tomorrow for granted, and remembering that it’s not us in charge of our lives (James 4:13-15). We plan our courses, but it is the Lord who directs our stepssometimes in ways we don’t expect. When we feel like giving up, He is there with us in the pain and confusion. He takes brokenness and pain and turns them into something better. In all of the discussions about life and death, sometimes we forget that it’s not about our plans and schemes. We don’t have the world on our shoulders. It’s actually all in His hands. Prayer Father God, we thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for the elderly who live among us; thank You for the little ones and everyone in between. Thank You for the contributions you enable from people who the world looks down on; thank You for the way You use each of us, regardless of how the world looks at us. Thank You for the things you do in response to our prayersfor the politicians who have stood up and been counted, and for the pray-ers who have spent time together with each other and with You. Please renew our strength to keep running the raceand please teach us to number our days rightly, so that we will gain hearts of wisdom as we lay aside our own plans and ambitions to pursue Yours. 21.01.2022 Living Waters Flowing Through Us Cheryl Lindley Intention God calls His people to be channels of the living water of His life-giving Spirit.... Scripture Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, flowing with water clear as crystal, continuously pouring out from the throne of God and of the Lamb. The river was flowing in the middle of the street of the city, and on either side of the river was the Tree of Life, with its twelve kinds of ripe fruit according to each month of the year. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1-2 Reflection God’s plan is the release of abundant life for His people and the nations. During the National Solemn Assembly at the end of September, Katie Dunstan prophesied that God was releasing a tsunami of living waters of the Spirit, crashing over Australia, as prayer rose over the nation. In our firehouse of prayer, we have also seen living waters rising up from under Uluru and spreading out across the land. I know others have also had similar impressions and prophetic words over the land of Australia. There is a growing awareness of the plan of God to release revival and reformation throughout Australia and across the globe. Australia’s gates and borders must be open across the nation and into the nations if Australia is to fulfil the plans of God spoken over her. For revival to spread across Australia and for Australia to be a nation that will send forth harvesters into the nations, we must be able to come and go across the land and in and out of the nation. The enemy has risen up in an attempt to halt the good plans of God in the nations. He is shutting down the nations and separating people from one another. However, I sense that this would be similar to when the enemy killed Jesus on the cross. He thought he had won a great battle, but if he had realised what would happen, he would never have killed the Lord of glory! I believe the same will be true in this current situation. God is about to win a great victory. The Lord is using this time to prepare the nation for a release of resurrection life. The power of the Spirit will pour forth from the people of God as they rise to overcome the power of death and release the abundant life of the Spirit. When an eagle is out in a storm, it turns to face the wind and rises above the storm using the storm’s power to lift. We can turn to face the wind, set our face like flint and use the storm to rise and soar over the power of the enemy. As we rise, we release the Spirit of life. We can use this opportunity to release life in everything we do and say: stepping out of agreements with anything that shuts life down; releasing words of life, encouragement, hope, peace, joy and blessing; refusing to agree with hopelessness, doubt and fear; and breaking the cycle of death and introducing a cycle of life in our own world and sphere of influence. Open the gates. Lift up your heads. Let the Lord come through you! So wake up, you living gateways! Lift up your heads, you ageless doors of destiny! Welcome the King of Glory, for he is about to come through you. (Psalm 24:7). Prayer In Jesus’ name, we shut our borders and gates to COVID and we open them for harvest. We release the abundant life of the Spirit of God to His people. Australia will fulfil the good plans of God. Rivers of living waters flow to me and through me, bringing abundant resurrection life. Australia, abundant rivers of living water are flowing across you! You are released out of the grip of death and into life! 19.01.2022 Letting Jesus Into the Centre of Our Lives Betty Harbottle Intention To bring the love of Jesus and the gospel to a lost and dying world.... Scripture Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him and he [shall eat] with Me.Revelation 3:20 (AMP) Reflection In the past, this verse has been used to invite people to ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive their sins and come and live in their heart. However, if you read the whole passage, you will see that Jesus is talking to the church at Laodicea. So it is usHis peoplethat Jesus is talking to. He is asking us to live in close fellowship with Him, not just leave Him on the outer edge of our lives. Jesus understands how easy it is to take our relationship with Him for granted. We can easily just read our Bible and forget that it is Jesus Himself communicating with us. It is so easy for us Aussies to be apathetic and complacent, saying, She’ll be right, mate. I love Isaiah 43:3 (AMP)And I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, Who calls you by your name. When we spend time with our heavenly Father, He shares with us. He also says in Isaiah 33:3 (AMP), Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not knowdo not distinguish and recognise, have knowledge of and understand? God promises to show us what we don’t know. As an interesting example of this, I once saw a list of inventions that had been created by Jewish people. They had obviously come from God Himself. What a blessing for His people and for us all! Start a Fire (Lyric Video) | Unspoken https://youtu.be/wEDIba7ne0A Some years ago, I attended the Hillsong women’s ‘Colour Your World’ conference. Everything was provided for me, so I went, expecting a word from God. Although I listened carefully to every message, there seemed to be nothing special during the conference. My driver wanted to stay for the Sunday service at Hillsong, so we did. Priscilla Shirer was the speaker. At the end of her sermon, she said, God has sent me all the way over here from Dallas, Texas, to tell you He sees you in the secret place. This was a wake-up call for me. Even after this, I can still find myself drifting away from God’s presence. It is so easy to get up late and leave my Bible reading for later on, which tragically never seems to happen. We need to continually be on the alert to guard our time with Him. Studies have shown that our lives can be changed when we read our Bibles at least four days a week. What will God do if we read them seven days a week? When we live close to the Lord Jesus Christ, I believe our lives can become attractive to those people who do not yet know Him. The closer we get to the Lord Jesus, the more we understand that His heart is for those people who do not know Him. Our prayers need to be focussed on the unsaved, and we need to be ready to speak as He leads. Prayer Dear Lord Jesus, will You give me Your love for the unlovely people, and give me Your words to speak to them? I thank You for preparing the hearts of the billions of people who will hear Your gospel in May. Please enable them to respond to You and accept You as Saviour and Lord. I thank You for Your great love for us which brought You from heaven to earth to live as a man, die on the cross, and be raised again by the Father. Thank You so much. Amen. 31 Days Prayer Points 1. 18.01.2022 Praying for Government Teeshan Johnson Intention We must pray for government, because we get the government we pray for.... Scripture Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Reflection Praying for all in authority including the government is a direct instruction in Scripture. It’s something that we as believers should be doing regularly. A dear elderly lady who attended my church many years once looked at me very intensely in the eyes and said, We get the government we pray for. I knew it was the truth and it was kind of a life changing moment for me. If Christians really raise a standard in prayer and supplication to the Lord for a righteous government, we will see that manifesthopefully sooner rather than later. This Scripture also tells us the reason God wants us to pray for all in authority, because He wants us and His church to be able to live a quiet and peaceable life so that people can be saved by coming to a knowledge of Jesus. So does this mean when we have good and godly people in authority it’s the best environment for people to get saved? Yes, that’s exactly what it means! So many Christians pray for revival (and for people to be saved) including myself, but much fewer pray this Scripture regularly. But we should be praying it: it is a key to establishing a righteous Australia, USA and NZ; for nations that are ripe for harvesting. Prayer Lord, I pray for all in authority as Your Word says, that we, your church, may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness. Thank you, Lord, that it is Your will that none should perish and come to a knowledge of You, so I pray that everyone in authority comes to a knowledge of You, along with their families too. We pray the same for everyone in Australia, that this nation would truly become the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit. Lord, Your Word says that righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). We ask for a righteous government in Queensland, the USA, NZ and the ACT and all the other states around Australia. Protect President Trump and all other politicians, church leaders and governmental leaders who uphold human life and Your ways. Lord, thank You that Your Word says that exaltation comes from you (Psalm 75:6), and that you give grace to the humble but you oppose the proud (1 Peter 5:5). I ask you to bring low and remove from government those who are enemies of life and who hate You and Your ways. Send confusion to the enemy camp (Exodus 23:27). I ask for promotion for those who love You and Your ways. I ask for a righteous government. I ask for Your favour and protection over those who stand for life (against both abortion and euthanasia), that they will legislate accordingly to Your ways. Lord, please give us the government that is fitting for the King of kings, your beautiful son Jesus. May Australia, the USA and NZ be sheep (and not goat) nations. In Jesus’ holy name we pray. Amen. 09.01.2022 Knowing the Creator Through His Creation Gerardine Hansen Intent To know the greatness of God... Scripture O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. Psalm 8:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. Genesis 1:1-3 Reflection I’m a creator. We all are. And when I paint a picture with paint on canvas, while those who know me well can see the ‘Gerardine-ness’ in the painting, it is, nonetheless, only paint and canvas not flesh and blood. It is not me on that canvas. I had to be outside of the painting to create it. I am infinitely more complicated, powerful and creative than the picture itself, and I am made of different stuff. This is what God is like. He is outside His creation, infinitely greater than His creation and made of different stuff. But we do glimpse His majesty, through His ‘painting’. The first ten words of the Bible are very insightful: In the beginning [the creation of time] God created the heavens [the creation of space] and the earth [the creation of matter]. https://youtu.be/WXzzsoL7tEI As my painting is limited by paint and canvas but the painter is not, so creation is limited by time, space and matter, but the Creator is not. His majesty is difficult for us to grasp, yet we have impressions of it through His workmanship. While we appreciate creation the artistry of sunsets; the allure of mountains and wilderness; the asset of our water cycle and seasons; the aid of herbs, fruit trees and sheltering trees; the intricacies of snowflakes; the engineering of the human ear; the elaborateness of reproduction and the mechanism of a human mind could we glimpse the vastness, power, might and magnitude of God? Could we imagine His majesty? Could we be fascinated and find Him out in depth and detail? As Eugene Petersen puts it in The Message, God’s glory is on tour in the skies, His handiwork is exhibited from horizon to horizon. Madame Day holds classes every morning and Professor Night lectures each evening. (Psalm 19:1-2). Couldn’t I study under Madame Day and Professor Night to learn of the majesty of God? Couldn’t I sit in the science class of creation to learn about the greatness of God? Studying science is nothing more than an uncovering of Who God is. If I want to know the true nature of God, all I need to do is study, contemplate, and appreciate what He has made. Prayer Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself through Your handiwork. We repent on behalf of our universities and education departments. Lies are being taught and retold. We pray for a miraculous turnaround in education and truth. Lord, we pray for truth for every young child learning for the first time about the world. And we pray for every lost person who doesn’t know the authenticity of creation and consequently knows neither You nor himself and his purpose. Prepare their hearts and prepare our words as we go out in May. God, You sent Jesus out through time and space to speak to us and to die for us. He lived a three-dimensional life and He died a flesh-and-blood death on our behalf. Yet He never belonged here He has no beginning and no end. Open our eyes to the wonder, greatness, power and might of the One outside of time, space and matter. May we know Him and His majesty in depth and detail. Amen. 31 Days Prayer Points 1. 08.01.2022 A Heart of Reconciliation Ps Ada Boland Intention God calls us to restore broken bridgesto be reconciled to him and then minister this reconciliation to other...s. Scripture Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become righteousness of God in Him.2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Reflection There are two key points for us to reflect on in this Scripture. The first relates to us as individuals coming to God, and having our broken relationship with Him restored through all that Jesus has accomplished in His death, burial, and resurrection. The second relates to us being given responsibility to be reconciled to others, and to bring them into a knowledge of being reconciled to God. 40 Stories - Ada Boland, Townsville, QLD https://youtu.be/00CjWtenyHw God calls us to be His ambassadors. We are representing Him in and through our lives to bring the love of Jesus to a fallen world, reflecting His character and His nature. What an honour it is to be building bridges of reconciliation to individuals and groups that He has asked us to reach on His behalf. Wherever you are ateither deciding to restore your bridge of relationship with Jesus, or reaching out to others to build bridges of reconciliationGod will enable you and give you grace to do what He has asked of you. In Romans 1:16, we are encouraged by Paul: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jews first and also for the Greek. Prayer Father, we ask in the name of Jesus for the enabling grace by the power of the Holy Spirit to do all that You require of us. May the conviction of the Holy Spirit bring many to the cross and cause your churchyour childrento not be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for many. 07.01.2022 Jesus Has Every Answer Michelle Gibbs Intention To know what God’s character is like, we need look no further than the fruit of the Spiritlove, joy, peace, lo...ngsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Scripture But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) Reflection There is not a thought, problem, or circumstance that Jesus does not have a victorious solution to, though we must remember: it may take perseverance for it to come to pass. The Word of God has every answer needed, including what is unique to you. The Spirit of God reveals these as we seek Him in worship, prayer, and the Word. Abba will relate to you personally and where you are at with open arms, full acceptance, and approval. He will love you through your darkness, addiction, fear, or anxiety (see Luke 15:11-32). The blood of our beautiful, gracious Saviour Jesus Christ, God’s Son, made this possible. Jesus defeated the worst of sins, sickness, calamities, and failure (see Isaiah 53:4-5). God is peace. Therefore, He will communicate and work with you in peace, beauty, and love. He is not confusion or chaos. God treasures you so much because you believed and asked Jesus to be your Lord. Hence God’s Son, the Christ, lives in you (see Romans 10:9-10 and Colossians 1:27). Because Christ is in you, God is delighted with you day and night in the midst of your struggles and sin. Keep trusting His goodness, grace and mercy to bring you through. SONS & DAUGHTERS (feat. Kyle Howard) | Official Song Lyric Video | Vineyard Worship https://youtu.be/FeRkOgYhxiU Romans 2:4 reads, Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? We bring great pleasure to Him when we step out in faith to speak of ‘His goodness to us’ even when we may feel ‘not good enough’ or ‘hypocritical’. While we tell others of our tender-hearted, forgiving God, it will not only help to bring repentance and freedom to them: it also strengthens our resolve regarding His goodness and victory, despite what we are feeling, seeing, or hearing. We declare the same things that God says about Himself and about ourselves. Amen to the Word of God and the covenant of the cross! If we do not quit, we will have our freedom and victory (see 1 John 5:4-5). Prayer Thank you, Father God. You have freed us from fear of punishment and failure because Your Son Jesus Christ took all punishmentpast present and futureat the cross of Calvary. It is a Father and Son/Daughter relationship that You desire with us. You don’t require perfect performance, but an honest and open prayer life with You. It does not matter how many times we fail and sin; You forgive us. We are safe with you forever. Thank You for Your Scriptures to teach us, direct our steps, heal our hearts, correct us, and most of all, to reveal Jesus, and God’s great love for us. Help us to focus on this unconditional love in your Word, and not on our failings. Thank you Lord. We are so grateful! Amen. 31 Days Prayer Points 1. 06.01.2022 Caring for New Life Jean Seah Intention God entrusts us with an amazing responsibility: the care of new life. May our communities learn to value and nourish eac...h person, especially pregnant mothers and the children they carry. Scripture The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 Reflection Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, to Whom all honour and glory is due, emptied Himself (kenosis), taking the form of a human being, in order to reconcile us with God and redeem us through His sacrifice on the cross (Philippians 2:7). He loved us so much that, although He is infinitely greater than us, He reduced Himself to the form of a helpless baby, dependent on Mary and Joseph to care for Him and protect Him from King Herod's merciless soldiers, who sought to destroy Him as an infant (Matthew 2:13). Even when He was in the womb, Jesus’ mere presence made His pre-born cousin John the Baptist leap for joy (Luke 1:44), and his aunt Elizabeth uttered a Spirit-filled salutation to his mother Mary: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. But why am I so favoured, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? (Luke 1:42-43). By the grace of the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth recognised in that seemingly ordinary visit of her young cousin, that God Incarnate had come to her home, along with the woman chosen to be His mother. Though pregnant herself, Mary had immediately travelled from Nazareth to Judah, to her cousin Elizabeth, upon hearing from the Archangel Gabriel that she too was pregnanta miracle given her old age (Luke 1:36). She knew that Elizabeth would need support, especially in her third trimester. That was a journey of at least 163 kilometres; a slow and arduous trek before modern transport. Yet, out of love and concern for her aged cousin, Mary went out of her way to care for her. In today's globalised world, with many people living far apart from their family members, it can be very difficult for a pregnant mother to cope with the immense transformation in her life, lacking traditional familial supports. Moreover, with government policies subsidising childcare centres but not stay-at-home mothers, and the modern Western expectation that mothers return to paid work as soon as possible after giving birth, babies and mothers are often pulled apart just when they need each other most, in this vulnerable, beautiful season of new life. Worse, with the advent of modern medical technology, the increasing use of contraception (which results in the risk compensation effect, as demonstrated by Harvard researcher Edward C. Green), and new laws legalising abortion, those in the womb are more likely than ever to be ripped away from their mothers before they even see the light of day. Fetus is simply Latin for young, offspring. Our lawmakers and physicians are enabling the wholesale destruction of our offspring within their mothers’ wombs, the place where they ought to be safest in the world. This, in spite of ultrasounds confirming what people have known for generations: the child in the womb is a living, unique human being with a heart which starts beating from 16 days after conception (according to Oxford). May we all learn to recognise and respect the image of Godthat is, Lovein each pre-born child, that they may be blessed with life to the full, and have the chance to know, love and serve God among their fellow men. Prayer Father, we beseech You to save our pre-born brothers and sisters from those who seek to steal their lives, kill them and destroy their tiny bodies before they have the chance to be born. We pray for pregnant mothers under stress, convinced that they have no way forward except to abort their children. We pray for parents, grandparents, siblings and relatives who have lost members of their family to abortion. May their wounds heal. Allow them to receive love and life into their hearts. We pray for legislators to be anointed with wisdom and compassion for the most vulnerable humans in their jurisdictions; we pray for those involved with abortions to repent and turn from their ways. We call upon the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to the glorious humanity of each pre-born child, and we pray that You, Lord, the Giver of Life, will shepherd Your children safely beyond the reach of the destroyer, the Father of Lies, who plants the big whopping lie that abortions are a safe and necessary medical procedure. O God, we entrust to You our nation of Australia, that every child may be born safely; that parents may be free of any sexism, selfishness or fear which leads them to contemplate destroying their own children. We pray for those providing support and care for mothers with crisis pregnancies, and mothers who may be refugees, migrants or fleeing domestic violence. May they be strengthened by Your love and given the grace to continue their work despite all challenges. Thank You, God, for the precious gift of life, and for making it possible for us to share eternal life with You. Amen. 06.01.2022 "As we engage with the Lord, He has given us all we need, and we are in a position to bring the fullness of the good news and life to this nation."
05.01.2022 Jesus Was Once Unborn Too Bill Muehlenberg Intention The Incarnation of Jesus is a reminder that the unborn are people too, and all of us have great value in Go...d’s eyes. Scripture In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord. Luke 1:39-45 Reflection These verses are part of Luke’s larger discussion of the Incarnation of the Son of God. It offers us a terrific glimpse of the biblical affirmation of the personhood of the unborn. The bigger context to the passage just cited is Luke 1:26-56. In it we read about three important things: the foretelling of the birth of Jesus; the meeting of Mary and Elizabeth; and Mary’s song. When Mary visits her relative Elizabeth she is perhaps only several weeks pregnant with Jesus, yet John leaps in recognition of himbearing witness to the coming Messiah (v. 41). And this truth is repeated in verse 44. The obvious reality here is that mere clumps of cells or blobs of tissue do not leap for joy. As Charles Swindoll rightly states, Luke mentions that what was being formed in Mary, the mother of Jesus, was in fact ‘the holy offspring’ (Luke 1:35), not mere ‘fetal tissue’. Or as R.C. Sproul has remarked, however we evaluate this incident, one thing is certain: John the Baptist was an unborn child who manifested cognition and joy. Many other biblical passages can be mentioned here, all of which demonstrate the truth that the unborn are actual persons and that personhood is clearly assumed of those not yet born. But the significance of this passage cannot be overstated. The significance of the Incarnation can never be underestimated by the Christian. In a discussion on abortion and the Incarnation, Christian bioethicist Gilbert Meilaender reminds us that this is not just a doctrinal teaching: Thus, for Christian teaching and imagination, however great or limited our capacities, however momentous or insignificant our achievements, we are allin Paul Ramsey’s suggestive phrase‘fellow fetuses.’ Before God we have no claims or achievements of which to boast, and we can stand with confidence before God only because the whole of our life has been taken up into the death and resurrection of Jesus. We have, therefore, good theological reason to affirm the continuity of life from its earliest beginnings to its last breath. This is exactly right. Being made in God’s image, we all have supreme worth, not based on what we do but who we are. This is not just the stuff of important theological truth, but the amazing moment of one unborn baby recognising another unborn baby, and the greater purposes of God found in that event. Prayer Lord, we thank You that we all have tremendous worth because you are our Creator andfor those who come to you in faith and repentanceour Redeemer. We all have inherent dignity and value because we are your creation, and this value is there from the moment of conception. 03.01.2022 Listen to the Voice of True Justice Ann Browne Intention It is time for us to listen to the voice of God, the just judge, and to take action on behalf of the de...fenceless. Scripture All rise! For God now comes to judge as he convenes heaven’s courtroom. He judges every judge and rules over every ruler, saying, How long will you judges refuse to listen to the voice of true justice and continue to corrupt what is right by judging in favour of the wrong? Pause in his presence. Defend the defenceless, the fatherless and the forgotten, the disenfranchised and the destitute. Your duty is to deliver the poor and the powerless; liberate them from the grasp of the wicked. But you continue in your darkness and ignorance while the foundations of society are shaken to the core! Didn’t I commission you as judges, saying, ‘You are all like gods, since you judge on my behalf. You are all like sons of the Most High, my representatives.’ Nevertheless, in death you are nothing but mere men! You will be laid in the ground like any prince and you will die. All rise! For God now takes his place as judge of all the earth. Don’t you know that everything and everyone belongs to him? The nations will be sifted in his hands! Psalm 82:1-8 Reflection The Lord is asking those who have been given authority to judge and rule, to listen to the voice of true justice. We as His church and all who are given authority are required by the Lord to defend, liberate and represent His Justice. May we join the Lord in praying Psalm 82:1-8 (above) that we have true justice for the defenceless babies in the womb and the elderly and suffering ones. They are excluded from justice in the abortion and euthanasia bills and from the place the Lord has given themto live their lives on the earthgiven full worth and value because we are all made in His image. We are to intercede and take action, for righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. (Psalm 89:14). The Lord is calling the church and leaders of our nation to listen to His voice of true justice and to defend the defenceless and to not allow this bloodshed to continue. It has now been over 50 years since abortion was made legal in Australia. Together, as one, let us agree with heaven that all lives matterthey are given by the Lord and we must stand up now as the church to pray, speak up and take action. Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of life! We stand in agreement with Your Word and pray for true justice in Australia. We humble ourselves and pray, we confess the sins of our nation in our partnering with death. Thank you for the blood of Jesus powerfully crying Mercy! over our land. We ask that you, Lord, to hold to account those who are pushing for the destruction of lives. Establish leaders and a justice system for life, especially for the unborn and the defenceless. We thank you that everything that is being twisted and lied about, everything moving swiftly in our nation for the destruction of human life, is coming under Your mighty sword (Isaiah 27:1). May those who love You keep watch, pray, take action and speak courageously the truth about the impact of abortion and euthanasia. Lord, may the power of Your justice flow through Your people with wisdom, to speak with all those who have been given positions to govern who make decisions for life in our nation. We speak to the mountains hindering justice in the upcoming elections in QLD, ACT, USA and NZ, the Termination of Pregnancy (Abortion to birth) Bill in South Australia, and euthanasia bills. We declare you be cast into the sea and be no more! Lord, let Your truth and light guide Australia to her true destiny! In Jesus’ powerful and redeeming name, Amen. 03.01.2022 Repentance Brings Renewal Kym Farnik Intention In times of great opposition and peril, it is important to know we already have victory and life in the mighty an...d wonderful name of Jesus. Scripture Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time. Revelation 12:10-12 Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ John 14:6 Reflection We have just come from the National Solemn Assembly, held on the 26th-27th September, which has, I sense, brought a fresh rain in the spiritual realm. We have sought the Lord in this season, recognising and repenting of the grievous sins of this nation, crying for God’s mercy and grace. Sin brings death, and these are a few of our sins: the Indigenous are dying unjustly; we kill babies in the womb; we kill old people through euthanasia; we sell our children on the streets through prostitution; and we have enabled by our inaction an anti-father, anti-family, anti-holy marriage, and immoral agenda. As a result, we have cried out to the Lord and thus we expect a wave of conviction of sin and also an uncovering of sin in this season as the truth of the gospel of God’s kingdom is proclaimed. The Lord has called us to bring His life to this nation. This wave of conviction is a reflection of us, the Ekklesia (body of Christ), having a fresh fear of the Lord, and a fresh manifestation of His holiness. In turn, conviction leads to a wave of salvations in this nation and region, as weHis churchrise up in the authority and power of the Holy Spirit. This is the call of God at this Kairos time. It is a great time to go forward in His calling to His victory and His kingdom. However, there are problems as we go forwardnamely, significant opposition from godless agendas. We journey in perilous times. There is also an incredible answer to these problems, which I gleaned and expanded from a discussion with a prayer leader in the USA: 1. Personally, we must be fully grounded in the Word, and completely full of the Holy Spirit (Acts 11:24). This is foundational to how we overcome and have victory in this life and the next. Intimacy with the Lord is essential. 2. Lukewarm does not cut it. We must be hot: there is no other way to live! Lukewarm lives will fail. 3. There is a new thing that is not new; the remnant Bride of Christ entering the rest of the finished work of the cross. This is critical We must do everything from a place of rest in Him and not our own strength or abilities. 4. The Holy Spirit is infusing us with a backbone of steel. We will have no fear of death (Revelation 12:11). We are hidden in the cleft of the rock (Exodus 33:22), covered in His presencethe presence of the Lord Jesus. 5. Body ministry is the way we live and journey together. It is about relationship with the Lord and with each othergenuinely supporting, loving, and all being ministers of the gospel and God’s kingdom, bringing the kingdom of God to earth as it is in heaven. This not just about church services, but rather how we live His life together as His body. This is how we bring life to a dying world. We carry the word of deliverance, healing, provisionand above all, salvation. As we engage with the Lord, He has given us all we need, and we are in a position to bring the fulness of the good news and life to this nation. Prayer Lord, I praise you for sending Jesus into the world to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We know it is your will that we should not perish but come into repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Today, we repent of all our sins and not following your ways. We declare the truth of the gospel of the kingdom of God, and speak Your deliverance, provision, healing, and above all, salvation for Australia. We ask for life for Australia as You, Lord Jesus are life itself (John 14:6). It is Your life we seek for this nation. Amen.
