22.01.2022 Good news for those living with severe eczema. The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) have announced the recommendation to add Dupixent (Dupilumab) to the list of medications subsidised by the Australian government. Dupixent will be listed as a medicine on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), providing an affordable treatment for those with severe eczema inadequately controlled by topical skin treatments.

20.01.2022 Management of food allergy within schools and early childhood education centers (ECEC) is very different to that in the community due to the educational nature of the environment and in ECEC the need to provide food. The next installment of our All About Allergens e-training will provide schools and early childhood education centres with an important education resource for staff and senior students. 17.01.2022 National Allergy Strategy Camp for Teens With Severe Food Allergy in VICTORIA The National Allergy Strategy (NAS) has received some funding to engage with teens and young adults living with severe allergy and we are excited to have the opportunity to invite you to the NAS 250K Youth Camp. The camp will be held from 22-24 November, 2019 at Merricks Lodge, Mornington VIC. We have chosen this campsite for its excellent facilities and activities on offer as well as its location... only an hour from Melbourne. Campers would need make their own way to Merricks Lodge on Friday afternoon (4pm) and then be collected from the Lodge on Sunday afternoon (2pm). Please be assured that we are working with the camp catering staff to ensure that all food allergies will be catered for. There is no cost to participate in the camp as we have been fortunate to receive a subsidy for this camp. If your child is aged 11-15 and has a severe food allergy, they are invited to participate in the camp. A number of National Allergy Strategy/Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia staff will be attending the camp along with allergists, allergy nurses, dietitians experienced in complex food allergy and the CEO of Australian Camps Association, who will be joining in with the activities. 16.01.2022 Today is World Atopic Eczema Day which is dedicated to improving awareness and understanding of eczema (also known as atopic dermatitis). Eczema can impact significantly on the quality of life for both the person with eczema and their carer. The National Allergy Strategy recently developed new information about managing eczema for our 250K youth project. To support this information, a new video animation has been created, firstly for our 250K young adult website, and a teen ...version will be available soon. The National Allergy Strategy has also developed information sheets to help people with eczema understand how to use bleach baths and wet dressings. 15.01.2022 The National Allergy Strategy 250K Youth Camp was held over the weekend at Merricks Lodge in Mornington, Victoria. We are pleased to say the camp was a success! Thank you to all staff and volunteers who helped to organise and attend the camp.

14.01.2022 Health professionals from the Perth Childrens Hospital in collaboration with the National Allergy Strategy are in Albany, Western Australia, presenting to health professionals, school and childcare staff, food service staff and the community about managing food allergy, anaphylaxis and eczema. This morning Ingrid Roche (Senior Dietitian, Perth Childrens Hospital) presented on food allergy to a group of hospital and community dietitians in Albany and other WA Country Health Service sites that were able to join by videoconference.

The sites now house information about everyday eczema management, as well as helpful tips about managing eczema flare-ups. The team has also developed a downloadable infographic which guides teens through the process of wet dressings and bleach baths for eczema management.
