17.01.2022 As on June 2018 Mylan Australia is now supplying a generic adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjector as well as EpiPen. Both devices work in the same way, so the only difference is that the generic device does not include the EpiPen brand name. Emerade adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjectors: ASCIA has been advised by Link Heatlhcare that they will be supplying Emerade adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjectors in Australia and a limited number will be available around mid June 2018. ...A short video, poster and information about how to administer an Emerade is provided on the ASCIA website: www.allergy.org.au//anaphylaxis-resour/how-to-give-emerade A generic ASCIA Action Plan for Anaphylaxis will be available later this week on the ASCIA website www.allergy.org.au/anaphylaxis which can be used with Emerade and any other adrenaline autoinjector brands. It is important to note that Emerade has a needle shield that needs to be removed before it is administered for 5 seconds, whereas EpiPen has a blue safety release on the non-needle end that needs to be removed before it is administered for 3 seconds.
17.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) ADVICE National First Aid takes the health, safety and working environment of our team and students very seriously. To support these efforts, we are working proactively to identify and mitigate any potential risks. As cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed around the world, including Australia and the situation continues to evolve, we ask that all students and prospective students stay engaged with updates and take steps to minimise the ris...k of exposure of COVID-19. On 15 March 2020, the Australian Government put in place new measures for people arriving in Australia. a) every person that arrives in Australia from an international destination is required to self-isolate for a period of 14 days, including returning Australian citizens and residents. You are also required to self-isolate if you: a) have been diagnosed with the coronavirus (COVID-19) are under medical assessment for coronavirus (COVID-19) b) have had close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) We are monitoring the situation daily and following the latest government advice via the Australian Government website. 16.01.2022 After visiting many third world and poorly developed countries such as Cambodia, parts of Thailand and Vietnam, I am saddened by the extreme difficulties facing so many under privileged people. I am very privileged to be able to give back and help those suffering and in need. Nepal is among the poorest and least developed countries in the world, with one-third of its population living below the poverty line. It is a landlocked country with rugged geography, few natural res...ources and poor infrastructure. NFA supports the Pahar Charity, Nepal which was started 25 years ago. The founders are handing out back packs to school children. The packs contain pencils, crayons a drink bottle, food containers and other items. The children are so proud of their packs! NFA has generously donated a brand new Cardiac Defibrillator the only one in their village. Kym Eden - Managing Director of NFA

15.01.2022 Over the weekend Kym received a message from one of our customers, letting him know that they had saved a life over the weekend. Hi Kym, just letting you know that we used the defibrillator last night and had a retrieval. Patient brought back to life and air lifted to Melbourne." The patient was a 67 year old male who went into cardiac arrest, CPR commence and defibrillator attached, 4 shocks delivered and sinus rhythm returned. Minutes later he arrested again. A further 2 s...hocks delivered. Due to the remote location the Ambulance took almost an hour to arrive. The patient survived and was in surgery today having stents put in. This customer invested in 2 HeartSine - 500P SAMARITAN Defibrillators back in 2015. Their investment has just saved a life. Early recognition with early intervention and early defibrillation saved this mans life.
15.01.2022 Help beat Australia's BIGGEST KILLER! Make it your aim to know CPR, and increase survival rates before emergency services arrive.
