01.01.2022 It is with great honour to be brought on as restoration advisers to the 1st Armoured Regiment, as they pursue the restoration and refurbishment of 3 of their gate- guard vehicles surrounding their regional headquarters, within RAAF Base Edinburgh. The vehicles subject to restoration are as follows: Daimler Ferret, Staghound armoured car, and the well renowned "Atomic Tank," a centurion tank that was subjected to a nuclear blast almost 68 years ago, in late October of 1953, in Emu Field, SA as part of Operation Totem. The tank then went on to be reinstated for use in the Vietnam War. Pictured below is the Museum's Vice President and acting workshop manager Mike Jebb, and Corporal Dion Caskey, of 1st Armoured Regiment, following further discussions this morning.
