25.01.2022 Jay Vine of Nero Continental had his game face on early with his start time of 6.36 am, but scorched his way through the dawn cold to set a time that few approached! "It was a bit of a rough surface," said Vine. "I tried to get as low and as aero as possible and go as hard as I could. I'm pretty happy with the result. I've done a lot of work on the time trial of late, targeting the time trial nationals in February. "That was on the time trial bike, this was on the road bik...e, so it was a little bit different. Really good to see the form is actually there, there's only so many Zwift races you can do to compare yourself. Noone's shown up to this to participate, they've all shown up ready to go, so to pull out a result like that is really good to see." Riley Fleming of Oliver's Real Food Racing was second, 27 seconds adrift, with Jesse Coyle making two on the socially-distanced virtual podium for Nero Continental!

23.01.2022 A long post-up celebration for Cam Scott! A late break by Lionel Mawditt (Cyclehouse) threatened to steal the stage after some action-packed climbs in the finale, but Cameron Scott and his ARA-Pro Racing Sunshine Coast teammates were able to bring the race back for Scott to jump clear to take the win in convincing fashion. "Yeah, lucky for me it came down to a sprint at the end," said Scott. "There was one guy off the front at the end there and lucky for me I had still had tw...o teammates coming over the top of the climb and they did a really good job to get that rider back and without them I wouldn't have won today. "I'm just really happy, especially after yesterday's shock. It gave me something a bit extra in the legs." Brendan Johnston retains the NRS individual lead with his third-placed finish on the stage, while Team BridgeLane strengthened their position in the overall teams' classification. Their lead is now 258 points, their 918 points accumulated ahead of second-placed ARA's 660. 1. Cameron Scott Australian Cycling Academy 2. Elliot Schultz MEMIL Pro-Cycling 3. 23.01.2022 The final lap had the peloton looking to complete the catch on two-rider breakaway Nicole Frain of Sydney Uni - Staminade and Danielle De Francesco of Specialized Women's Racing, but they couldn't manage it, with Frain powering clear to win with a comfortable margin. "I'm pretty stoked," said Frain. "My teammate Georgie (Whitehouse) came up to me and 'Bridge! Bridge across'. So I did and we managed to stay away." "Those last few laps you really don't want to get caught at th...at point, you've worked so hard for so long. I tried to get the jump on her into the roundabout and I got a few bike lengths on her. Then on the final corner I had three bike lengths and I committed to the finish." Josie Talbot lead the bunch home for third.
22.01.2022 Another Gigantic performance! Sarah Gigante showed her climbing prowess and time-trialling chops again on the Bilambil loop, the exact same loop, run in the opposite direction, that had featured ahead of the summit finish of Tomewin on Day 4. Gigante this time measured her efforts early, before jumping away with former teammate Justine Barrow Roxsolt Attaquer p/b Liv & SRAM and then dropping her with just over a lap to go on the 17.3-kilometre loop. ... That proved enough space for Gigante to again put in a long solo effort that distanced her chasers, winning by three minutes and 22 seconds over second-placed Justine Barrow, who picked up her third podium spot of the race. I thought that it would be easier to get the gap if everyone was a bit more tired. I’ve been training tons, so the harder the race and the longer the race, the better. If I’d tried to get away on the first hill, I probably wouldn’t have been able to, but by the second last lap everyone was looking pretty tired. The route featured over 400 metres of vertical gain per lap, a tight and winding 17.3-kilometre route around Bilambil that skirted the Tweed River and featured steep climbs and technical descents. That was a brutal course, I absolutely love it, said Gigante. Everyone says nationals should be moved, I love the Buninyong course, but if they do have to move it, I wish they’d put it here. It’s just fantastic. Always climbing, so many steep parts as well. 1. Sarah Gigante (TIBCO-SVB) 2. Justine Barrow (Roxsolt- Attaquer) 3. 18.01.2022 Neve Bradbury goes solo to claim Roxsolt Attaquer p/b Liv & SRAM victory! After an initial breakaway of Emily Watts Subaru-Giant Racing Team and Bree Wilson of Roxsolt established themselves a handy advantage, the pace was driven hard by Sarah Gigante on the second lap. Gigante shut down the breakaway's advantage and the race re-established with a group of 9 riders, including four Roxsolt. The team used their numbers well, launching Bradbury clear and marking moves. ... Bradbury soloed into Mooball to win comfortably! "I don't really know what to think," said Bradbury. "This is my first podium. I was just hoping to be up there this Tour. So to win is amazing." "Up that last hill it was pretty slow, I just went to the front, my teammate was behind me and let me go. I wasn't doing many watts. I thought 'well I'm here now' and just kept going. I thought go 110 per cent to the top of the hill and then if I can't see them, I'm good for the win." 1. 17.01.2022 Happy as a Lyons! Angus Lyons was the winner from the early breakaway in the men's Day 6 of competition to make in two wins in two days for Oliver's Real Food Racing. There was a lot of skirmishing early in the race, before the break got established and pushed out their gap to over 4 minutes. A concerted chase from MEMIL Pro-Cycling and Australian Cycling Academy brought the peloton to nearly catch the escapees on the line, but the move stayed away on the final descent, all...owing Lyons to take the win. "It's been a long year, so to come away with something, and the something being a great stage like that, I'm pretty happy. "It was either the break or the side of the road at that point. Absolutely smashing it for the first 10-15 minutes to get the break out and away. Once we heard it was out at three minutes we relaxed a little bit and went from there. "Out of that group, coming at the end of a long day, I'll back my sprint, it's sort of what I do! I was pretty happy with that situation." 1. Angus Lyons (Oliver's Real Food Racing) 2. Matt Dinham Team BridgeLane 3. Mat Ross Cycle House Full results: http://results.auscycling.org.au//NATCUPMEN_Stage6_Result.

15.01.2022 Dating back to 1930, the Tour of Tasmania has long been a proving ground for Australia’s best cyclists. The inaugural race was won by Sir Hubert Opperman, after whom Cycling Australia’s prestigious Oppy medal is named. 2011 TDF champion Cadel Evans won it twice in the late 1990s. In October 2008, 23-year-old Richie Porte took the title and now sits on the edge of a Le Tour de France podium!
15.01.2022 Jensen Plowright had his Team BridgeLane teammates to thank after a sterling leadout in the final laps saw him delivered to the final corner first to sprint to line and win by a sizeable margin from Nick White and Cam Scott! "They (Bridgelane) rode the front for the last 25 laps and to finish it off for them feels great! ACA are strong with some big hitters there, we managed to box on there and push them out of the way. To beat Cam Scott... he's a magnificent rider and it's a huge win for me." With 1-2 finish with Nick White in second, Bridgelane will go to the top of the NRS team standings!
14.01.2022 Ben Carman Nero Continental took out a brutal day of competition around a climbing-heavy loop of Bilambil. A hot pace from the start saw dual race-winner Jay Vine on the attack on the first lap with Carman and Sam Jenner in tow. A furious chase brought the trio back eventually, 55 kilometres into the race, with more attacking groups trying to go clear from the ever-diminishing peloton. More hard laps at a furious tempo brought the population of the peloton below 20 riders, ...with a steady stream of riders being ejected from the rear of the main group. Eventually an attack stuck, with Carman, Sam Hill, Nick White (both Team BridgeLane) and Lionel Mawditt Cycle House forming a strong group off the front. With Mat Ross (Cycle House) and Elliot Schultz MEMIL Pro-Cycling trying to bridge across, the quartet at the front eventually became five with Ross. Schultz, unfortunately, suffering a mechanical. Carman was the man that was first to the line on a final lap filled with attacking, his winning move launched on the final ascent of the day, hurtling down a technical descent to finish as the solo winner of the race. It’s really cool," said Carman. "It’s up there with my favourite wins. Our plan was to tear the race apart from the gun. That worked way better than we expected to be honest with essentially Jay, myself and Sam Jenner off the front for the first two and a half laps." "Jay (Vine) just did a great job keeping me fresh and setting me up. From there the race was in pieces and I just followed, followed all day. I knew that, aside from Jay, I was one of the better climbers here, so I tried to keep as fresh as I could until that last climb where I knew I had it in me to go over the top and come in solo. 1. Ben Carman (Nero Continental) 2. Lionel Mawditt (Cycle House) 3. Nick White (Team Bridgelane) Full results: http://results.auscycling.org.au//NATCUPMEN_Stage7_Result.
14.01.2022 A race stoppage, sweltering conditions, steep hills and two talented rivals couldn’t stop Gina Ricardo Sydney Uni - Staminade from sprinting to victory on Day 5 of the women’s National Road Series ahead of breakaway companions Sam De Riter Australian Cycling Academy and Bree Wilson Roxsolt Attaquer p/b Liv & SRAM. "It wasn't really the team plan, said Ricardo. "We were going to light it up for Georgie (Whitehouse), our team sprinter, or Nicole (Frain) for the breakaway. But i...t happened that I got in the move." "Sam and I were praying that she wouldn't attack us on the hills. Luckily for us she was pretty cooked from yesterday's stage. She kept in under control and we were able to sit on her wheels up the hills, then it came down to the sprint!" There was an odd moment in the race, when the women's peloton was caught by the men's race and the commissaires opted to neutralise the women's race by having the riders and convoy pull into the carpark of the Margaret Olley Gallery while the men's raced passed on a busy section of the route. "It was a strange race," said Ricardo, "we had to stop and take a breather as the men's race passed, which actually I was quite grateful for as it was really hot out there." 14.01.2022 Bre Vine Step FWD I.T. Suzuki after winning the sixth and final stage of the 2020 National Racing Series on Zwift. "I was really excited to take the stage when and I think more so because Jay was so excited. I think it's been a long time coming with how much I raced on Zwift and it has been really nice being able to tick that one off after COVID took away in real life racing." #NRSoZ #NRS20
13.01.2022 Congratulations to Karin Jones who has been appointed as the Race Promoter of 2021 Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic and with it, becomes the first female promoter in the Classic's 104-year history. #NRS #M2W
13.01.2022 Jay Vine was the pre-race favourite, and showed that he deserved every bit of that hype as he launched clear on the imposing final climb of Tomewin, winning by 34 seconds ahead of a Team BridgeLane trio of Ben Metcalfe, Sam Jenner and Matt Dinham. Vine's Nero Continental team had done a lot of work to ensure that Vine was in position to win the stage, closing down a breakaway of Ben Van Dam, Mat Ross, Tom Benton, Zack Gilmore, Jesse Coyle and Riley Fleming, who had formed off... the front after early aggression on the hilly laps around Bilambil. "It means everything. I had my eye on this for three months now, every since it was announced." "We checked out the course, the 17 kilometre loop on Saturday and knew this was a really tough day. If we could just get it to a minute at the base, I knew I could do my job. Dylan sacrificed his own chances to rip it at the base, then Ben also riding a ripper did a 1200-metre two-minute burner then exploded, but he did his job really well.| "A tiny bit of questioning (of whether I could win), then with about 1500 metres to go I passed Ben Van Dam and he said 'Go Ben' to Benny Metcalfe (Van Dam's Bridgelane teammate). I checked over the shoulder and it was the first time he'd let a wheel length go. I decided to hit the gas again and the gap pulled away."
13.01.2022 Following her win in stage 05 of the NRS on Zwift we caught up with Nicole Frain from Sydney Uni Staminade for a quick chat and to hear her thoughts going into the final stage of the series this weekend! #NRS20 #NRSoZ

10.01.2022 Green and gold atop the standings to kick off the nine-day NRS decider at the National Tour! Sarah Gigante stormed home into a brisk headwind along the picturesque surrounds of Pottsville Beach to claim a 38-second win ahead of Danielle de Francesco of Specialized Women's Racing with Nicole Frain in third. "It's been a long 266 days," said Gigante. "This feels so amazing to be here, seeing everyone and giving my all with a race number on my back... it's pretty special. It's... nice to see all that Zwifting and hard work during the lockdown paid off!" Full results at: http://results.auscycling.org.au//NATCUPWOM_Stage1_Result.
09.01.2022 Congrats to Jay Vine of Nero Continental! Closing the series out with a dominating display; attacking early, to then break away solo and never look back. Jay not only took the win but also secured him the GC for the NRS on Zwift! #NRSoZ #NRS20
09.01.2022 Ruby Roseman-Gannon showed a combination of climbing legs and finishing power to win Day 3 of the women's NRS in Tyalgum. "I looked at this course today and I thought that it really suits me as I like the punchy climbs to weaken off the pure sprinters. I felt really good on the first lap, then on the second there were a few attacks and I felt I could hold them. It's probably the first time in the NRS that I've crested a climb with the climbers. To be aroudn riders like Justin...e (Barrow), Sarah (Gigante), Lizzie Stannard... I don't belong here. "On the descent, I didn't want to do too much as I needed to freshen up for the sprint and no one was too keen to work and the bunch caught. I took the inside line of the corner, unfortunately, Josie (Talbot) dropped her chain there but Sarah and I avoided it and I sprinted around Sarah at the end." Grace Brunton-Makeham animated the early stages of the race, but the peloton brought it all back together on the second lap of the Tyalgum loop. There were fireworks when the riders reached the steep, short climbs near the finish, with Bree Wilson of Roxsolt Attaquer p/b Liv & SRAM starting the attacks. A select group of climbers emerged over the top of the second climb, with a fast run into the finish from there, with Roseman-Gannon taking the win! 1. Ruby Roseman-Gannon Australian Cycling Academy 2. Sarah Gigante 3. Justine Barrow Roxsolt Attaquer p/b Liv & SRAM Full results: http://results.auscycling.org.au//NATCUPWOM_Stage3_Result.
08.01.2022 An early misty start gave way to hot conditions and Team BridgeLane fit the theme of the day, scorching to a very fast time of 32 minutes and 14 seconds, finishing the day 18 seconds clear of Australian Cycling Academy just beating Nero Continental by six seconds into second place. A 27.2 kilometre flat course saw the men's teams post some flying times, the top three teams all averaging over 50 km/hr!!! Bridgelane have a stranglehold on the National Road Series team standings... with 2474 points after a series of strong, consistent performances, well over their nearest rivals Nero at 1308.
