05.01.2022 MEMBER UPDATE Dear NRA Members and Committees As we get close to six months since the COVID-19 enforced suspension of all NRA affiliated rodeos I thought it timely to provide an update on the current state of affairs.... Although we have a couple of events now confirmed to run over the next few months, under Industry and government approved COVID Safe plans, there is still no certainty as to when restrictions will ease enough to allow the full return of all of our events. As such the NRA Board have made the following difficult decisions at our Board Meeting this week. 1. There will be no Champions awarded in the 9 Open events for the 2020 season. All points accumulated so far this season will carry over to the 2021 season. 2. All Rookie/Novice competitors in the 2020 season will receive an additional Rookie/Novice year. All points accumulated so far this season will carry over to the 2021 season. 3. Champions will be awarded in the 5 Junior events for the 2020 season due to the age groups meaning that competitors may not be able to carry over points to the 2021 season. A Finals Series will be organised for these Junior events. 4. Membership Fees for the 2021 season will be discounted for those who were members in the 2020 season. The amount of the discount will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and will be advised when Membership Reminders are sent out. There were many different options discussed and the above were difficult decisions to make but these are difficult times in which we live. We hope that all members will understand and accept these decisions. The Board also voted to introduce two new categories of All Round Rodeos for the 2021 season. The Super All Round Rodeo and the Mega All Round Rodeo will see the minimum prizemoney raised to $1000 and $1500 per Open event respectively and 1.5 and 2 times points awarded respectively towards the end of year titles. These categories are optional for Committees but it is hoped that they will see the benefit that these categories offer in attracting better quality competitors and thus producing a better quality event. More details will be released in the coming weeks. Finally I would like to thank all of our Event Directors, Stock Contractors and volunteers for making the series of NRA Rodeo Clinics held over July and August a resounding success. We hope to see many of the students competing in the 2021 season. Thanks for your understanding and patience as we continue to navigate our way back to normal. Regards Jason Hall Chairman
