25.01.2022 The NSC is aware that two hours ago SSAA Victoria issued a communication that it is aware of cases where LAFO's have had their licences suspended and or cancell...ed for alleged breaches of Covid 19 restrictions. SSAA Vic has in its communication indicated it is receiving legal advice and is apparently willing to engage in legal action. Despite recent history between SSAA Vic and the NSC, the NSC thanks the SSAA for its announcement and expresses its hope that the two organisations will be able to work together on this issue in a spirit of goodwill and mutual cooperation to stop this newest attack on licensed shooters and our sport. We also thank Shooters Union Australia for its support on this matter and welcome their announcement to join in fighting this abuse of power by the Victoria Police Licensing and Regulation Division - NSC Executive Committee.

25.01.2022 Here's some good news - a funding program for clubs in Victoria. We encourage every club to check it out. The news page says it all - but the link at the bottom of the page doesn't work, but you'll find full details at: https://sport.vic.gov.au//shooting-sports-facilities-progr

25.01.2022 The NSC first exposed this story and it smells worse as time goes by! Truth please...

25.01.2022 Here's a follow-up that we organised with the Brisbane Times on the Queensland Police data stuff-up.

24.01.2022 PETER ZABRDAC is a seasoned political operator. Here is his view on the future of hunting in Victoria in the current political climate - which could affect the future of hunting elsewhere

23.01.2022 GREAT NEWS: We've reached our halfway point of $5k to raise $10k to help Ron who is up on firearm charges ONLY BECAUSE he wanted to protect himself in a dangerous situation while giving first aid to a neighbour. Ron's actions probably saved her life. We just hope the justice system will see that, and throw the charges out. Help us make that happen!

23.01.2022 OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS, there will be three directions hearings in the WA State Admin Tribunal on WAPol's decision to deny licences for the Ruger PC Charger. These actions were started by the NSC in what is 'round 2' in our battle with WAPol who caved in first time around. Yes, it's a long, slow hard slog, but one we're not only equipped and happy to run with, but one which we believe will end up producing the sort of positive results we need for shooters. ... This is in addition to two other calibre issues we're running in WA, another Ruger reclassification in Tas, the fight in Vic to help a security guard keep his business - and helping our mate in Alice Springs to fight charges for simply giving someone first aid. So to help those of you who hear detractors ask what the NSC does, that's what.

23.01.2022 Bev sticking up for Shooters again! Go Bev..

23.01.2022 Another win for shooters. 'Onya, Peter Z!

22.01.2022 ATTENTION all gun clubs and shooting businesses - We want to help you keep your doors open!

22.01.2022 WHAT DO YOU THINK about the NSC? If you like what we do, then would you mind leaving a rating out of five for us on Google? Just open up the Google search engine, then type in "National Shooting Council" - then you should be able to add to the "Google reviews" on the right hand side. This will help other shooters know who to look for!

21.01.2022 ... and we've got more coming your way ...

21.01.2022 Yes, shooters in Vic ARE copping suspensions simply for COVID breaches...

21.01.2022 We won! However there are more chapters to this story that we'll be telling you about in the next few days

21.01.2022 First the SSAA boasts that it can help defend its members all the way to the Supreme Court - and then this!

20.01.2022 OPEN LETTER:The action that the NSC is taking in WA on the reclassification of 8 firearms is taking on a greater importance than we had previously thought. This fight is no longer about just those firearms, but the future of the industry west of the border.

19.01.2022 You may have seen this before but here is a petition for those of you in COVID-free Queensland to allow recreational shooters being permitted to own and use category H, C and D firearms for pest control. The NSC has a related items on its list of 5 items it is putting to every candidate at the state's October election. Sign the petition - and don't forget to follow the NSC for updates in the lead up to the election!

18.01.2022 NT ELECTION - EARLY RESULTS As you may be aware, the NSC's National Election Strategy covers every state, territory and federal election. The first of those was the NT election held on the weekend. To help shooters, we provided voting advice for every seat. While results have not been finalised, there are a couple of highlights which look good for shooters ... Independent Kezia Purick looks like retaining the seat of Goyder despite a full on attack from the majors. Kezia is not only staunchly pro-gun, but a member of the NSC. The ALP looks like holding government in the NT but it is possible that it might not do so in its own right - in which case Kezia may be one of two independents holding the balance of power. If that happens, then it increases the odds of securing what Kezia has been pushing for - a 50 cal range! The CLP's Jo Hersey - Country Liberals for Katherine, who we supported a proposal to help secure land for the local pistol club, looks like she has picked up her seat of Katherine. We'll be going through our scorecard when all results are in - PLUS we're now gearing up for the ACT and Qld elections in October. Well done Kezia and Jo!

18.01.2022 WHERETOSHOOT: Here's a fantastic new resource for those of you who want to know where you can go shooting - and if you want to promote your range

17.01.2022 Looks like Lisa Neville doesn't want to answer hard questions. The NSC have worked tirelessly to expose the truth. Thank you Bev McArthur!

16.01.2022 OzArms has become the first dealer to sign up as a NSC affiliated dealer under our GunKeeper program which 'opened up for business' yesterday. Several more dealers and clubs will also come on board as the week progresses so we're off to a great start. Welcome aboard, OzArms. Make sure you support them, as they support the work we're doing at the NSC!... https://www.ozarms.com.au/ See more

14.01.2022 Lisa Neville usually has plenty to say lol!

14.01.2022 At least VicPol CCP Shane Patton , had the decency to appear publicly. Where was Police Minister Lisa Neville???

14.01.2022 COMING SOON: We all know that people and businesses are doing it tough - and the shooting industry is not immune from that. That's why the NSC will soon be announcing what we're doing to try and help our dealers and gun clubs keep their doors open.

13.01.2022 VicPol spends your money to fight Shooters and the NSC....

12.01.2022 Another happy customer...

12.01.2022 We'll be having more to say about this later...

11.01.2022 RECLASSIFICATION is the bane of the shooting world. It allows bureaucrats to arbitrarily change the classification of otherwise legally held firearms, to make them illegal to continue to hold - all because of 'how they look'. It's 'policy on the run' and needs to be stopped. The NSC has just won a key legal fight in Western Australia, and we're going to fight every other reclassification to make the point that there is no place in our world for bad gun laws.... Check this out & support the NSC at nationalshooting.org.au

10.01.2022 THIS TIME LAST YEAR we launched membership to the NSC. In our first year, we Got the fake National Cabinet story into four national papers Launched six legal actions, on gun shop closures and reclassification - and were sponsoring a 7th one that is still current Had questions about the twenty five million dollars allocated by the Vic Govt on semi-auto firearms raised in parliament... Two MPs became members Helped four shooters get their licences suspended over COVID back; and Made voting recommendations at three elections state & territory elections. .. and now we're starting year two...

09.01.2022 GUNKEEPER CLUB: The NSC now has its first shooting club - the Hunters & Shooters Soc of Au on board under GunKeeper, and we've already made our first payment to them as our little bit to help them through these difficult times. We will be bringing more clubs and businesses on in the next few days, so if you run a club or shooting related business that could do with a helping hand, then make sure you join GunKeeper!

09.01.2022 WA GUN BANS: Our fight in the WA State Admin Tribunal on the decision by WAPol to reclassify several firearms continues. Here's the latest update.

09.01.2022 NATIONAL ELECTION STRATEGY: Here is the first ship to roll off the dock - the voting recommendations for the NT election, to help shooters up north work out who is 'safe' to vote for. #NTVotes

09.01.2022 VICTORIA POLICE have threatened shooters with licence suspensions, cancellations and disciplinary actions if they breach COVID restrictions. No-one is advocating breaking the law, but it is unacceptable to think that shooters can be singled out in this way. It's deplorable. To make the point, the NSC has commenced legal action on behalf of young shooter whose only 'crime' was to visit a mate during the stage 3 lockdown. Police have suspended his licence and taken his guns - despite the fact he has not yet even be fined! So, we're going to do what we can to make the point that this is not good enough. Check out this story and help support the fight today!

09.01.2022 Come Clean On Your Deal Daniel Andrews. ------------------------------------------------- Daniel Andrews, ... Victorian Duck Hunters are under no illusion that the Labor Party is divided on duck hunting. Your Government has recently passed laws regarding the extension of the State of Emergency Powers with the support of Samantha Ratnam (The Greens), Fiona Patten (Reason) and Andy Meddick (Animal Justice). Andy Meddick is a known supporter of bullies and criminals known as the Hunting Saboteurs, a group of criminals that assault and harass law abiding hunters and families. Duck hunters are worried you have done a deal with this man. Duck hunting is a sustainable activity that contributes hundreds of millions of dollars to the Victorian economy. But it’s more than that. It is a tradition; a culture with its own ethics and traditions that ties a hunting community of tens of thousands. 2021 is shaping up to be a great duck season and can help recovery in regional Victoria. Victorian Duck Hunters want to know if your Government has made a deal to BAN, MODIFY or REVIEW the Victorian Duck Hunting Season in exchange for support from the Greens Party, Reason Party and Animal Justice Party. Please confirm your continued support for duck hunting and its traditions and tell us you have not done a deal with the extremist Andy Meddick. --------------------------------------------------------------- FIGHT FOR OUR TRADITION www.vicduckhunters.com

08.01.2022 GUNKEEPER GROWS! The NSC is continuing to receive applications to join GunKeeper - which puts money in the pockets of gun clubs, and customers through the doors of our shooting businesses, with NO strings attached!. If you run a shooting related club or business, then check out what we can do to help you at: https://nationalshooting.org.au/gunkeeper

08.01.2022 So glad the UK govt is cracking down on crims with flintlocks. Six fatalities since 2007? Seriously?

07.01.2022 GUNKEEPER - PAYMENTS START NEXT MONTH! The NSC recently announced the start of GUNKEEPER which will provide clubs with donations and sponsorships, and gun dealers with incentives they can offer their customers - all in the name of doing our bit to help our industry through the pandemic. Payments start in September - so if you are an office holder of a club or run a shooting related business, then sign up now!... Simply drop us a line at [email protected] See more

07.01.2022 SHOOTERS IN KATHERINE TAKE NOTE! If you're a shooter in Katherine, then you need to check out this announcement by Jo Hersey - Country Liberals for Katherine who is helping the local pistol club find and secure a range, with funding and government support to help this get up. Katherine is a marginal seat so if you are enrolled to vote there, support Jo so that she can help the local pistol club.... Don't forget, polls close 6pm Saturday!

06.01.2022 AS SOME OF YOU may be aware, the NSW registry is seeking force clubs near the NSW state borders to affiliate with NSW based associations, rather than associations in those adjacent states who are geographically better suited to their needs. This has a range of implications including insurance, ability to participate in competitions and pathways to international competition through nationally affiliated bodies such as Target Rifle Australia, Australian Clay Target Association,... Pistol Australia Inc., National Rifle Association of Australia and so on. We want to hear from those associations in the ACT, Qld, SA, and Vic which have been affected by this, as we are working on a solution. If you are on the executive of one of those associations, please drop us a line at [email protected]

06.01.2022 VICTORIAN REGISTRY'S COVID THREAT: As many of you may have heard, the Licensing and Regulation Division of Victoria Police has announced that it will now reprimand, suspend or cancel the licences of shooters or licenced security guards if they are alleged to have breached the current COVID restrictions in Victoria and are issued a fine. This follows previous similar ‘threats’ to shooters who get caught speeding under ‘aggravated circumstances’ (which includes driving over th...e posted speed limit), and their more recent behaviour earlier in the year of threatening - rather than helping - handgun licence holders unable to meet their participation requirements because of the restrictions. The NSC is not here to just ‘talk’ about our problems: we act on them. The NSC has sought preliminary legal advice and if you are a shooter or security industry guard who has had his / her licence affected by the LRD, please let us know what happened by contacting us at [email protected]. If we find ‘the right case’ then we’ll be commencing legal action in either the Firearms Appeals Committee (FAC) or Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) immediately and add to the list of actions against the heavy handed way that those in charge of the registry think they can get away with!

06.01.2022 Another great effort by Tim Quilty MP!

06.01.2022 GUNKEEPER: Dealers who signed up to our program are now sending in new member applications which have helped them sell guns. In fact today we heard from a dealer who sold two guns to a customer - so the dealer has made a double headed sale, the NSC has picked up a new member and the customer is even happier! So if you're a dealer and would like to know how we can help you close that sale, check out our GUNKEEPER page now - getting involved costs you nothing!

05.01.2022 RUGER PC CHARGER UPDATE: As many of you know, the NSC is taking legal actions to help WA shooters keep their guns. The two actions we have filed both relate to the Ruger PC Charger handgun which WA Police has reclassified to category D. We are aware of concerns of similar moves in South Australia and NSW. Our enquiries with registries in both states have not yet revealed the making of any formal decisions, however we will continue to monitoring the situation closely, espec...ially in light of the actions which are taking in WA. We are waiting for further information to come to hand and will let you know what is happening when we can, and what if any further legal actions may be necessary.

04.01.2022 By now most Victorians with a firearms licence will have seen the disgusting threat from LRD to cancel the licences of anyone who gets a fine for breaching the ...CHOs diktats. It is completely outrageous. Outrageous overeach. The government has assumed extraordinary powers under the emergency declaration. And then they wield that power like a drunk teenager who has stolen their parent's car keys and gone for a joyride. This can't be allowed to continue. We will oppose the extension of emergency powers. And we will hold the government and LRD to account for this abuse of power and their ongoing attacks aimed at responsible firearms owners. https://www.bordermail.com.au//outrageous-overreach-shoo/

03.01.2022 Here's something EVERY shooter in NSW should be concerned about...

03.01.2022 ScoMo has JobKeeper: we've got Gunkeeper. As we all get past the pandemic, there is a risk that some gun clubs and businesses that service our industry may not be able to survive. We need them to keep their doors open.... That's why the NSC has been working on packages to help our clubs and businesses bounce back. We don't know if we'll be successful - but we're going to do our best to see what we can do - and it will cost them nothing. So if you run a club or business that could do with a hand to help it get through this, then let us know. Drop us a line at [email protected]

02.01.2022 Another registry leak...

02.01.2022 COVID LIES: Victoria's Police Minister, Lisa Neville, has now responded to a parliamentary question that Tim Quilty MP asked - and once again the government is saying they aren't targetting shooters over COVID breaches. Yes, they are. https://nationalshooting.org.au//covid-lies-victorian-mini

02.01.2022 QUEENSLAND ELECTION: The NSC has sent surveys to all known candidates at the Qld election being held on 31 October. We're asking candidates to turn their minds to several issues of concern to shooters in Queensland such as the recent gun shop closures, costs of permits to acquire, enabling category D for the security industry, farmer access to category H firearms and the fact their firearms act is called the "Weapons" Act!! We would like to thank the Shooters Union of A...ustralia for their help in developing the list and their help in preparing for the election. Importantly we'll be working with them - and relying on their expertise in several electorates - in shaping our How-To-Vote recommendations to provide a united front to help shooters in that state. This is part of our National Election Strategy which started with last month's NT election, and continues with the ACT election (also in October) and then other states to follow.

01.01.2022 Here's what we're doing to STOP Victoria Police from using COVID as an excuse to take licences off shooters.
